Testing the Boundaries | Started by: JackMezzo on Aug 30, '18 12:20 |
Under and overcast sky, Jack found himself on the pier once more. Heavily dressed in a thick woolen coat, the wind bit at the exposed areas of all present. The crowd had gathered on the pier once more to witness another round of fights in preparation for the opening of Purgatory Gym. the main event was coming, but first Mezzo was ironing out the rules of play. "Thank you for joining us my friends. On this breezy morning in Philly, Race Street is bringing you another bout between two of our communities up and coming fighters. "In the Orange Trunks, we have a Boss from the depths of Corktown, Detroit. Random!" As the announcements are made, both fighters are entering the ring. "And in the Purple Trunks, a Seattle Soldato, Swap!" Jack steps back as the crowd erupts, watching the two men prepare themselves for the upcoming bout. |

"Round one! Fight!" The bell rang for the first round, Jack stepped back to allow the crowd to watch the clash. The two fighters touched gloves then assumed their respective stances. Of the two, Random appears much more casual and confident, a distinct swagger in his step. At first he presents no guard, and Swap dives in for the shot. The two dance around the ring, warming themselves up, Swap begins to jab and make contact several times with the now defending Random. His efforts are not enough however and after some probing, a powerful right breaks through the guard of the Detroit man and sends him stumbling backwards. Swap aggressively follows, presenting a balanced approach for both his attack and defense. The bell rings, both fighters retreat. The Detroit man will need to step up if he wants to take back the advantage. |

As the wind breaks against the pier, the clang of the bell can be heard again. Jack hollers out across the crowd and the second round begins. Both fights raise with vigor, Random is the first to his feet, closing in quickly on Swap. The pair maintain focus on their guard, resulting in very few exchanges. A slight jab, a probing strike. It isn't until the round edges to a close that the fight picks up. Swap attempts to break his opponents guard, but it remains solid. Random advances, his jabs turning to strikes, strikes to uppercuts. His efforts do not come without reward, as Swap braces for the increasing number of hits he soon attempts to strike back. A painful mistake, as exposes too much and Random delivers a hay-maker to the Seattle mans jaw. Swap is shaken as the bell rings, he had a balanced approach however it wasn't enough. The Random man from Detroit brought more punch to this round, but is he at risk of exhausting himself? |

"Round Three, ladies and gentlemen, round Three!!" Jack winds up the crowd from the side of the makeshift ring on Race Street Pier. The bell rings and the two fighters raise. Swap in the first to strike, moving in quick on the Detroit Boss. Random has brought some of his trademark swagger to the round, once again pacing with no guard around the ring. He soon engages as Swap advances, though it's too little too late. The Seattle Soldato is out to prove something following his slip last round and cannonballs into Random. Random fail to break his defense as Swap repays his efforts with several winding body blows. The strikes cause Random to stumble and a confident Swap pursues him. A round of heavy beatings for Random follows, before the bell recalls both fighters. Swap is clearly showing signs of fatigue at this point, where as Random just sports injuries associated to a car accident. |

The air is tense as the fourth bell rings. The only ones calling out from the crowd are those with money riding on the result. The air is otherwise quiet. The fighters meet, Swap has focus on his defense, while Random is looking confident. Swap sends a splattering of jabs which break on the gloves of Random, he swoops low to reach under his guard, but is swiftly stopped as the two fall to a clinch. As they part, Swap continues to make attempts to break the Detroit man's defense, however soon finds himself on the returning end of a powerful volley. Both fighters are nearly their limits, however Random is pulling no punches and maintains a heavy domination over the Seattle man. There is little respite, and Swap is saved only by the bell. The crowd breaks into a roar as there is everything to play for in the final round. The pair prepare themselves for the fifth. |
