Interpersonal relationships and communication is the key. Having a good set of hands that work closely as a team with the crew leader and communicate with the rest of the crew to get their opinions on situations makes for a happy crew

I think another interesting question could be: "Why should the CL's feel the need to stand out?"

True, from an OOC perspective:

- CL's could feel the need to benefit the game's user retention by taking a proactive role in reaching out to new players.

- This, arguably, is their OOC duty to the game and community.



Yet, as far as roleplay goes, it is totally ridiculous. Neither crewleaders, right hand men, even made members, did not pander to the plebs in hope of gaining their services. It was exactly the opposite. Shit flows down hill, money and respect goes uphill. To go out of your way to prove to some nobody how good you are is counter intuitive, you are gracing someone with respect they have not earnt.

The community is an absolutely integral part of making this game what it is. People can say all they like about the unique nature and set up of the game; the onus on roleplay et cetera, but it's ultimately our community that sets us apart from other games. However, people do not arrive here thinking 'I want to be part of a great community', they join thinking 'I want to pretend to be a mobster'; for me, that is the most enjoyable aspect of the game.

So to add another question; to what degree should one integral aspect (accurate RP) take precedence over another (the community itself)?

As far as I'm concerned, the people who do *not* stand out and merge a lot more are the ones who survive longer. In the Mafia, any form of "press" is bad press. If you're drawing attention to yourself then you wont last very long. That's one of the main lessons I've learned over four years of playing this game. Why do you think Iota lasted so long, the fat lazy git?

You know.. on the outside, I dont do a lot that is different.. other than keep it mob related, in game and realistic as possible. On the inside of the family, I do my best to notice the small things others wont.. a goomba promotion.. etc.. I might not spend the time in the IRC chat room talking to the world, but you can be damn sure I talk to my family.
