Just happened to be in the neighborhood. Started by: Eleonora_Luciano on Sep 14, '18 04:47

Eleonora had been doing quite a bit of traveling since she had began this new life.  It all was so exciting, but there was one place that she had fairly neglected.  Las Vegas and Los Angeles were home to her, Detroit held her father and sister, Philadelphia…  Well she very much found that she liked it there.  She had even begun to visit Seattle and New York a little bit.  But there was one city that held someone important to her, two someones in fact, and yet she rarely visited it…  So it was that she had planned a little visit.  Just a couple days but still it would be nice.  Her plane touched down in the early afternoon and so she didn’t hesitate to head right on over to the recipient of her visit.  The Godmother herself.

Ellie smiled quietly to herself as she headed on up.  She idly wondered if she’d run into her sister or father here.  But if not, that was alright as well.  She had wanted to come to visit Marie and her new baby sister.  Under her arm she carried a pair of gifts.  She didn’t want to come empty handed.  One package smelled like baby powder and the other like a bakery.  But as she drove closer to the Godmother’s home, Ellie suddenly realized she had neglected one key detail.  She hadn’t told the Godmother she was coming.  She hadn’t remembered that she had forgotten that either.  Typically it was a bad idea to just show up at someone’s house without letting them know you were coming…  But still Eleonora forged on.

Once she reached the beautiful home of her mother-in-law, she wandered right up if allowed, and knocked upon her door.  If Marie was at home, or deigned to receive her guest, she would find her lovely little daughter-in-law done up in a festively spring green dress with a slightly darker sweater to ward off the early autumn chill.  She smiled softly to herself as she waited to be acknowledged before she headed on in.  That was only polite and despite her wish to deepen relations with the Godmother and her mother-in-law, Ellie had only seen the woman a handful of times.

Hopefully she’d get a chance to remedy that.

(Marie_Lucania for reference.  <3 Hope you don’t mind!)

The door was opened almost immediately by Rand, Marie's head of security.  He greeted the woman cordially and offered to take her sweater and the gifts.  Though draped in civility and politeness, the taking of the gifts was also a security measure.  Rand would examine them before giving them to the Godmother.  Ever since the incident with the nanny, Rand had tighten security even more around Marie.  He trusted no one accept the Godfather of Detroit, and the made men of Marie's crew.  "Marie is in the sitting room with Aurora.  Ginny will show you the way."

The young maid curtsy slightly and speaks pleasantly, "This way Miss Luciano, if you please."  Turning around she lead the way out of the foyer and to sitting room that was just off to the left.  When they enter, the maid announces Elenora to the Godmother.

Marie was reading a large, black, leather bound book with no markings on the outside.  When she sees Ellie she smiled and sat the book on a small table next to her chair.  Rising she went to greet the young woman, "Ellie it is so good to see you.  I did not know you were in town."  Marie kissed both checks of the woman and then took a step back to regard her.  "How are you?"

Aurora laid sleeping in a wooden cradle on the other side of the chair Maire had been sitting in.

Eleonora jumped a little at the prompt response.  But at the sight of her Mother-in-law's bodyguard a bright smile lifted her features considerably.  She was thrilled to see someone home!  She knew she had run a risk in dropping by without calling first.  But that seemed to be her thing.  Ellie was as free as the breeze and in all reality, she went where she pleased, whenever she pleased.  She had become accustomed to earning quite a pretty penny for her family at the same time, but in reality she was a very flighty thing.  "Hey Rand!  It's so nice to see you!"  She enthusiastically greeted the man as he relieved her of her sweater and the gifts.  She hesitated only slightly as she had wanted to give the gifts to Marie herself, but she didn't say much as she was beginning to understand the need for all the caution.  "Please be careful...  There are some cupcakes in there that are fairly fragile..."  Although she didn't seem too horrendously concerned.  The lovely thing about baked goods is that even if they were a little squashed, they still tended to taste the same.  And the blanket wouldn't be harmed by some rough treatment, it was made to withstand a growing baby after all.

She nodded eagerly as he stated the whereabouts of Marie and the baby.  Her gaze turned to the maid who would be leading the way and she shot her a brilliant smile before looking back to Rand.  "Thank you.  See you around!"  Sure the familiarity that Ellie seemed to show to everyone was a little strange, but honestly, who could hold it against her?  In any case, she'd follow the maid called Ginny.  "It's nice to meet you Ginny."  But there was not much time for pleasantries as they were already headed to the sitting room.  Ellie would shake off her awkwardness and smile sweetly as she was announced.

Her gaze quickly found Marie and the cradle off to the side.  There were no sounds of unrest, so she figured the baby was likely sleeping.  She heard babies did that a lot.  Her attention quickly centered upon the approaching Godmother, and her face split into a wide smile of clear pleasure at seeing the woman.  It was a blessing and a curse with how expressive her face was.  Her intent was often clear.  This tended to help her be trusted, but goodness did it give her a terrible poker face.  In any case, she would return Marie's greeting quite eagerly before beaming at her, eyes meeting her own.  "It's very good to see you Mother- Marie- Godmother..."  It was the return of the awkwardness and Ellie fairly tripped through the list of names.  She had only seen the Godmother a handful of times and the place that the woman held in her life was quite confusing to Eleonora.  On the one hand, she eagerly accepted Marie as a mother figure.  But in all honesty they hadn't broached that topic all that clearly.  So even if she really wanted to just embrace Marie in such a position, she had no clue if the woman wanted to be embraced as such.  Marie had been nothing but kind to her, so she wasn't certain that she would mind in the least.  But as much as Ellie wanted to take everyone at face value, she was learning never to assume.  Even so.  She gave the woman a warm smile and nodded in response to her words.  "It's wonderful to see you as well.  I didn't know I would be until a few hours ago!"  She gave a soft but clearly amused laugh.  Her flight had been a last minute decision as she had heard of a business opportunity that was quite time sensitive.  Yes, that was typically the story anyway.  In any case, she was here and had wanted to visit her mother-in-law and baby sister.

Her question brought a warm smile to her face and she nodded a little.  "I'm doing well, my family is thriving, my businesses are doing well...  I get to travel wherever I want, whenever..."  She grinned a little bit at her and tilted her head looking covertly over to the baby cradle.  "How are the two of you doing?  I'm sorry I haven't visited before this!  Time has gotten away from me...  As is typical."

"It's very good to see you Mother- Marie- Godmother..."

"Oh please call me Marie in private."

It was the return of the awkwardness and Ellie fairly tripped through the list of names.

Marie smiled and looked back at the bay, "We are doing well.  She has finally grown out of the colic and is starting to settle into a more normal sleep pattern.  The godmother chuckled and looked back at Ellie.  "Which has been a good thing for me."  Marie gesture to one of the chairs as she began to move to pick up the baby, "Would you like something to eat of drink?"

She grinned a little in a near sheepish manner as Marie stated she should call her Marie when they were in private.  She nodded understanding perfectly and would try and remember to call her as such in the future.  But Godmother would certainly be what was used in public.  That much was for sure.

She listened intently as Marie spoke of little Aurora and how she was settling out and some relief found it's way into her gaze and she nodded.  She hadn't ever had babies herself, but she remembered babies in the home that she grew up in.  Colic was the worst!  Although her caretakers found that she had a knack for dealing with colicy babies...  Perhaps it was her gentle demeanor, or perhaps it was the fact that she had the patience to walk with them and rock them through the night, or perhaps it was her creativity in finding just the right odd detail to help each one's ailment...  Either way, she had made herself very useful growing up to be sure.  But she shook her head a little.  "I'm sorry I didn't visit before, I have been told I have a way with colicy babies..."  She laughed lightly, but nodded with obvious care in her eyes as she looked upon where the little one lay.  She nodded with another soft bubbling giggle of obvious delight at Marie's statement that the babie's new phase was good for her.  "Certainly helps if you get more sleep."  She nodded.

Ellie's gaze turned raptor sharp as Marie moved to pick the baby up.  She felt a sudden longing but would hold her tongue for a few moments.  As she was offered food or drink, she shook her head lightly.  "I'm alright...  But...  If she's going to awake, may I...  I mean if you don't mind of course...  May I hold her?"  She looked up to the woman, eyes shining with a light hope that she would be permitted.  She did love babies, almost as much as she loved animals after all.

Marie smiled at Ellie as she gently slipped her hands under Aurora and lifted the baby adjusting her so that she was cradled in her arms.  Her intent had been to allow Ellie to hold her when she went to pick the child up, but the woman's desire amused her.  Babies had a way of doing that to a young woman.  It was natural.

"She may or may not wake up, but you can hold her."  Marie walked over to Ellie and gently placed the child into the woman's arms.  Aurora made a face that indicated she was not happy about the jostling interrupting her sleep.

Her eyes danced with clear joy as Marie showed amusement and no hint of nervousness or anything with the idea of her holding her.  She tried to bridle her excitement as Marie picked her up carefully without waking her up.  To say that Eleonora was impressed was an understatement.  She was fairly certain that babies didn't like to be picked up when they were sleeping.  But the little one was moved carefully and quickly placed in her arms.  She accepted her carefully in her arms and as she began to fuss and squirm a bit, expressing her displeasure just a tad, Ellie would hold her close making gentle and soothing noises to her as she began to rock her gently.  Many people would seize up and not know what to do in a situation like this, but Eleonora looked like she'd been raised around babies.  For the most part she had.

She smiled warmly as Aurora nestled in and fell right back to sleep against her.  The young woman fairly melted and sighed a little.  "She's absolutely beautiful..."  She spoke softly, looking at her with no small amount of awe.

Marie took a seat and smiled at Ellie.  Speaking softly she asked, "Would you like a family of your own one day?"  The answer was fairly obvious, but she found a desire to learn more about Lucky's middle daughter.  Marie knew so little about her and it was high time she fixed that.

She held the little one tenderly in her arms, a subconscious hum coming from her as she soothed the little one right back to sleep.  It seemed that Marie might be hard pressed to get her daughter back any time soon at that moment.  Then again if asked, naturally the baby would be relinquished.  But as the Godmother moved over to sit beside her, her question brought Eleonora's gaze right back up to her face.  For the moment, a look of utmost tenderness filled Ellie's eyes.  It was clear she was very fond of this baby.  Then again why shouldn't she be?  The little one in her arms was her sister and a natural family bond was felt by her.  She smiled almost shyly at Marie's question before mulling it over for a moment.  "Someday..."  She spoke softly as she thought about the young men that had come and gone in her life and those that still stood strong.  Very few had she told her father about, and only one had she allowed to pursue her.  Sure there were not many, but each one held a certain special place in her heart and yet she didn't know how easy it would be for them to win over her father.  Again, she had only tried once.  That had started to go over well but...  That situation confused the dickens out of her.

"This life of ours is so uncertain Marie...  One minute you can be on top and feel safe and the next?  Sleeping with the fishes..."  She shuddered delicately.  One would question if Ellie truly was cut out for this life despite her sunny nature and take on the world attitude.  Eleonora had an approach that was all her own.  She wasn't brash, she wasn't bold, and yet if you looked in those expressive eyes, somehow you knew that all was not completely as it seemed.  There were teeth behind those rainbows...  Even if their deployment was saved for very rare cases.  And behind the teeth?  Well...  There were few that could be completely certain as to what lay behind those.

"Even so...  I guess the answer is yes.  I would love to have a little one of my own...  But first I have to find a man that I'm sure Father would approve of."  Her eyes glittered a little at this as she remembered stories from her sister and her urgings to just be up front with their father.  "I'm not sure it's as hard as I think though... I know there will be someone."
