| Luna En Route To Philadelphia | Started by: Luna on Sep 28, '18 03:49 |

It was almost time to go. Luna finished packing up the rest of her suitcases and she headed outside of her bedroom to greet everyone her final farewell. She was going off to Philadelphia - the wonderful city of Philadelphia. Luna was heading there for a number of reasons, but the most important one was that she felt like she could expose herself to more opportunities of career advancement there. On her previous travel to Philly, after a tasty little hotdog lunch - she hauled a cab which took her to the Philadelphia Municipal Airport where Adonis' headquarters were based. The main reason she came to Philadelphia in the first place was to congratulate him on his new success on being given the chance to finally have a company of his own. Luckily for her, she also got to meet one other spectacular person. Her name was Ilaria. Luna was given the warmest hug and cheek kiss ever when she first saw her in the broad daylight. After being given a grand tour, Luna had felt a surge of happiness flow through her veins, and it didn't stop flowing until she had left the premises. She felt truly comfortable around Adonis and Ilaria. Moments prior, she had thought of retiring from the life of crime. Luna felt like she had nothing better to offer anymore, and the typical, insecure lady she was - subjected herself to the self-deprecation that was brought upon her. After her latest OC mission with Farquaad and Ratatouli, she had come to realize that maybe she just wasn't fit to be the gangster she wished she could be. Of course - she had expressed her concerns to Adonis, but she didn't quite get the response she expected. Luna thought that he would agree with her decision. She sounded so eager and determined to quit, but Adonis was good. Real good. She was swayed to come to him instead. The thing that also caught her attention was that she was given no strict boundaries. No one ever mentioned her or told her she was being too hard on herself, but maybe that was just because she liked to keep her thoughts to herself a lot. Luna felt like Adonis could see right through her. That alone was terrifying, but also comforting to say the least. She knew he'd understand. Luna accepted his offer right away, but then it all came back to her on the taxi trip back to the train station. She'd be leaving Chicago behind. The driver was eager to spark up a conversation but from the look on her face which was in deep thought, he left her to her worries. Luna remembered resting her head against the window and taking her mind back to the first day she arrived to the streets of Chicago. Godmother Marie had been so kind enough to welcome Luna into her family. Luna would be forever grateful, but in the midst of feeling happy about where she was - there was no denying that she was underestimating her talents and capabilities. A life in Philadelphia would better suit Luna. The Pier seemed to be a vibrant, joyous, and well built location for the locals. Luna had dropped by the pier on that day. It wasn't hard to tell that business was really booming for the shop owners in Philadelphia. One day, she too would like to open her own shop. She was aware that it would come with careful planning and consideration, but Luna was up for a challenge. Luna clutched onto her pastel pink suitcase and headed out of her old bedroom that was given to her. She was out of the room now, and she took one last look at the room she had spent two or so weeks in. Most nights were spent contemplating whether she was in the right home, whether she truly deserved it or not. She intended for nothing to come between her or the other members. Luna closed the door behind her swiftly and took a deep breath as she turned around in the direction of the people. "I will be forever grateful, Marie." The moment was unforgettable and bittersweet, but it was time for Luna to change the direction of her goals. Despite feeling somewhat nervous during the trip to Philadelphia, there was something she knew for sure. She was headed in the right direction. Luna spent so much time stalling on her dreams, but when she was presented with the chance to rediscover herself in a new city - she took it. There was no other day where she felt more confident and willing. Charlie, a good friend and former member of Chicago was already there. She had wanted to arrive to Philly at the same time as Charlie so that she wasn't alone, but she had slept in and was already past noon when she had woken up. Nonetheless, she finally arrived and showed up to the newly built airport searching for Adonis. Luna wondered if he had a main office, or if he had an office at all. Was there a seperate division she didn't know about? Luna had come here to see him before but her memory was foggy and it all felt like a foreign place all over again. She turned another corner, and suddenly noticed the back of Adonis' head. He seemed deep into a conversation. Maybe there was discussing business, so she sat patiently at the airport waiting area and waited. It would've been quite rude to interrupt, and plus she didn't mind to wait. |

Business. The rolling sea of green. The ebb and flow of the bank balance. The shining stars of professional relationships. The mountainous ups and downs of the daily grind. Trade was as natural to the world they lived in as daddy issues were to prostitutes. And in a way, everyone that chased the dollar sold themselves. Their souls weren't theirs anymore. Not when you made it all the way to the top. Adonis looked out of the airfield from an elevated position. A Boeing 247 private aircraft was slowly moving down the runway. Joe imagined it to a bird. A metallic bodied and winged songbird. The two front engines hummed as it moved. It's wings outstretched, like it was awaiting a gust of wind to take it to heights others only dreamed of. And that was the way he saw things, and what had him with such a smile on his face this day. He'd made it. He'd wrestled his demons. Got shot. Twice. Loved and lost. And loved again. But above it all, he'd found his calling. Being a professional in this life meant you had to be adept at taking one thing, and making it another. That was money in a nutshell. It didn't grow on trees. It grew out of ambition. You rolled back your sleeves and massaged it out of the ether with elbow grease. He'd taken the barred reality of a prison sentence and opened a pool hall. Made connections that made sense. And some that didn't. Some he had to walk away from with a heavy heart. But through it all, it was his zeal for exploring the unknown that got him to where he was. Which became another starting line. The difference being, he wasn't alone. And as he watched the plane begin to retire into a hangar, he remembered. A face once met that came to him. Wanting to call it quits. A man approaching snapped his attention back to the moment. The hill was at a far side of the airfield. A nice spot to watch the comings and goings of the Midas fleet. After a quick word, they made their way back towards the operation center. Business, again. It called to him. Day after day, it rang his number. Picked up the collar on his shirt and punched his digits. Twenty-Four-Seven. Three-Sixty-Five. Always on the grind. Always doing the Flexx-Mitchell. And before he could relax into a drink or two, he had to check out the beginnings of what would be their bread and butter moving forward. Once in the hangar, he was instructed on what would transpire day to day. Planes in and out. Narcotics, in and out. Simple. And that's the way he liked it. There was more to it. More to the ever growing branches that Midas would wrap around the country, tightening its grip on the drug trade. But for now, simple would suffice. And there was that memory again, slapping at his mind as the technical jargon bounced in one ear and out the other. It would be a proud moment. Joe and Arturo had dreamed up a vision. A scheme. And even though he'd gotten more than he bargained for regarding the people around him, there were more joining. Most recently, two of the brightest. They reminded him of Zeus. In that they were also protectors. The Greek God, of humanity. Them, the art of creativity. If you hadn't heard of them you were literally living under a rock. Maybe six feet under or close to it as their names were a constant. Barbershop quartets sung their stories. Barbers scissored their tales into clients minds. You couldn't not know of them even if you didn't know them personally. And one of them was waiting. His friend. His comrade. Finally, they could build something together. Something to rival Olympus. She was a Goddess in her own right. The name alone a throwback to the Roman deity. A myth, much like Adonis. And in the same way his name reflected his character, hers spoke true. Feminine energy personified. Joe got a telling nod from one of the grounds workers who slowed his rambling about what would work given the space and the men at their disposal. Someone was there to see him. Before Adonis even turned, he smiled. It must be her. The newest member of Midas. The ineffable. Luna Baloona. |
