The Lesson of a Young Goomba Started by: Marcus on Nov 01, '10 21:17

The wind howled as it whipped over the open water. Chicago's harsh weather had already set in about a month ago, but winter was creeping just around the corner. Marcus pulled his heavy coat closer to his body and took a cigarette out of his pocket. He lit it and inhaled deeply, it had been one of those nights. While looking down the shore Marcus noticed that he could see Navy Pier's lights from here. They twinkled in the twilight and were a nice replacement for stars on an overcast night such as this one. Just as he found a moment of clarity his attention was quickly pulled away.

"Hey Boss" The hitter called for him, Marcus kept his eyes on the the lights and the reflection they made on the water. He knew the situation that was going on behind him. His hitter's colt 1911 was pressed firmly into the betrayer's left temple. The betrayer sat, crumpled in on himself with his hands tied behind his back waiting for his end.

Yes?

Marcus turned around to look at the hitter. He was a young guy, nothing over the age of twenty-five with a good head on his shoulders. He was a hard worker and ultimately loyal to his family and his boss and Marcus highly appreciated both of those things. Which is one of the reasons Marcus took this specific hitter with him tonight.

"Still on the plan we had earlier? One or two shots?"

The betrayer flinched at these words, he looked like he sunk even further into himself if that was even possible. There was already a slight scent of urine in the air, this guy was scared shitless. One of Marcus's guards chuckled behind him.

"Just make it quick, JUST MAKE IT QUICK!"

The betrayer shouted as if these would be his last words. Marcus looked at him, looked at his dirty red hair, his small vermin face. He frowned at the man, at the coward and flicked his cigarette into the lake.

On second thought..Marcus looked back to his hitter.Let's do something different...

Earlier that evening.

Girls, Girls, Girls, read the sign above the double black doors. The neon lights buzzed above Marcus's head as he entered into the building. Two of his guards followed suit behind him. He motioned for one to wait at the bar and the other to follow him further into the club towards the peep show boxes. When one of the club's bouncers tried to stop them from going into one of the occupied peep rooms, Marcus had his other guard pull muscle allowing him to enter.

This is where he knew he would find Declan O'Reilly. Declan was a little Irish fellow. He was always up to no good, but Marcus was in the business of crime, this came standard in most of his family members. He never really had a problem with the ginger goomba until he broke one of his top rules. As Declan sat there enjoying the show and pushing dollars through the slot Marcus grabbed him by his collar and yanked him out of his chair. He threw Declan into his guards waiting outside and proceeded to leave the gentleman's club only stopping once to tell Cherry not tonight.

Cherry, not tonight.

Declan, the betrayer, was thrown into the back of Marcus's town car. One of the guards got into the driver's seat and the other sat in the back right next to Declan, keeping him in place with a gun jabbed firmly into his rib cage. Once the car pulled away from the curb, Declan decided it'd be a wonderful time to open his large mouth.

"What this be 'bout boss?"

Declan managed to stutter out. He choice of words, his prominent use of slang annoyed Marcus. Where did this kid come from? Marcus shook the thought away and got into business.

Declan would you like to tell me about your deal with your friend or would you like me to explain it?

Declan averted his eyes quickly, any where but his bosses face. The gun was forced harder into his ribs.

"Oh, so, oh, you found out about that now did ya?" Declan twittered his thumbes. "I don't believe there needs to be much said 'bout it now."

Marcus almost gave the order to have Declan be shot right then, but he didn't want to think of the blood staining the inside of this fine automobile. Instead Marcus turned to his guard.

Bob, would you like to hear the story of why Mr. O'Reilly is gracing us with his presence tonight? It wasn't a question to be answered. Marcus continued. Our good friend Declan had the bright idea to pass sensitive family information to one of his friends. This was only an act to help his friend out, what a good friend our Declan is. Wrong information to mess with though, wrong boss to mess with. As this friend who isn't in the family, has nothing to do with the family and is probably working for someone else's family.

If Declan wasn't already sweating he was now. His eyes mostly stayed on Marcus, but they fidgeted around the car. He looked like a rabid squirrel, contemplating ways to get out of this new trap.

Bob, what have I always told our family? That family comes first. Always first. Marcus used short fragment sentences to stress the importance of the subject. Bob, what do I do to people who turn their back on their family? Yes, that's right Bob we go to the docks.

With that Marcus pulled a cigarette pack out of his pocket. A match was struck and a flame burst to life, Marcus inhaled the smoke greedily.

"Just make it quick, JUST MAKE IT QUICK!"

The betrayer shouted as if these would be his last words. Marcus looked at him, looked at his dirty red hair, his small weasel face. He frowned at the man, coward and flicked his cigarette into the lake.

On second thought..Marcus looked back to his hitter.Let's do something different...

Marcus had his hitter put his weapon away. He called his guards over and had them throw Declan into the trunk of the car.

The next morning.

Marcus had called everyone from the family into the run down warehouse across the street from the family's headquarters. It was the only place large enough to fit them all and one place he didn't need to clean up a mess. He had his guard pull Declan out of the trunk and drag him into the middle of the circle that his family had formed. Marcus shoved Declan onto his knees, placing his gun behind his ear.

Once a great man, a Godfather who became a legend to many people spoke these simple words to my ancestor.

'I'll slaughter any sheep to save the herd.'

Marcus pressed the gun harder into the back of the betrayers head.

Just like my ancestor Gaius listened to Godfather Premeir speak these words and held them true, so will I.

The gun immediately discharged in Marcus's hand as he finished his sentence. The wound was severe and not only did blood splatter, but also flesh. There was no need to check if Declan made it through this. Marcus knew he didn't need to warn his members that these were the consequences if any of them wanted to fall in line with Declan. He lit another cigarette and inhaled once again while leaving the warehouse.

SINGERROURKE listened to the story that Marcus had spoke. It was one of the better Stories about the Mafioso and being a part of it somehow gave SINGERROURKE this greater sense of pride. SINGERROURKE did a lot of research on the past Godfathers and Godmothers of the nation and there was no doubt that Godfather Premeir was one of his absoulute favorites. SINGERROURKE noted the storys main point of the importance of the family.

I cant say how much i enjoyed this story, what i can say is that after hearing this I feel a greater sense of loyalty to my city and crewleader.

SINGERROURKE walks away after having nodded at the crewleader from chicago. He hops on the nearest train to go to Detroit.

Sits back in his office chair.. his feet kicked back, both of them placed on a fur foot rest, a cigar in his hand and a beautiful woman rubbing his shoulder.. Tony sat there, listening to the story, thinking about how real and true the story was in our world

In the world we live in, sometimes the only way people can learn is the hard way, but others sometimes learn watching others learn - can be the best teacher of all. In this world, like the story the family must be put first, especially when one have such blatant disrespect for our ways, it makes the decision easy.

I hope the young mobsters read this, and soak it is and realize that a lot of people put in work in the family.. and they are all willing to fight and die for you, but you must follow a few simple rules and do the same for them.

Takes a few notes to be passed down to the low line gangsters and goombs so they can learn from the experience
