The Deserted Streets. Care about This Thing? Respond! Started by: Kurtz on Oct 03, '18 21:48

Colt chuckled at the same his friend Adonis did. He strongly agreed with him and his main points.

Kurtz, I do agree with Adonis and everything he's said so far. To add a my own 2 cents, people will never be happy. Here you are now, complaining The Streets are too "safe". If you look back in the history books, people back then complained about "not being able to talk their minds without being shot". It'd simply a matter of regimes shifting and different values and moral.

Colt put his hands back into his pockets and walked away, whistling.

Coltrane, when and where did I mention the Streets being safe?

Mr Kurtz, I have a strong suspicion you are the kin of Kuku, if true, please ignore every word I have to say as I have no intention of ever engaging that linage again.

If you are not, however, I'd like to contribute some considerations.

Perhaps rather than question what isn't happening, engage in what is happening. My line has done the street discussions before. They have triggered them, engaged them, flamed them, been trolled and shot for them. I'm not going to resort to the same old format as my ancestors, and I'm not going to subject the people in this world to it, either.

If there is a healthy discussion or topic, sure, I'll engage.

There is more going on in this current climate though that you can be involved with, rather than pining for "The Speakers, the legends" that were fortunate enough to walk the streets when there was a wealth of material to talk about.

"What Made Means to You."

"Pick-Pocketing Etiquette."

"Blood-lining."

Do the people want us to just churn these out? I believe not. Plucky individuals like yourself who are fond of the streets being an active place would sooner call us out on the repetition.

Currently in place, there is:

  • A country wide tournament on which has the cooperation and participation of all seven cities, using a method we have developed with the support of multiple individuals from across many crews.
  • Chicago and Seattle are working with Philadelphia to put together comprehensive yet understandable gambling systems so everyone can be involved in the events.
  • Two Godfather Chairs are personally helping promote the event.
  • New York and Philadelphia have interactive business district systems in place which offer the opportunity to engage in the world, make money or further your careers as mobsters.
  • And My members are going to extremely admirable reaches to bring other features to life, be they competitions or events.

I can of course go on, and even then I can only quote what I have seen with my own eyes. During this time of peace and development, efforts are being made to maintain interest and engagement.

I'm not against your comments, discussions are an integral and functional part of our life. I am however not going to fall into the comfort zone of recycling discussions and pacing the streets when there isn't anything else to say. The world is quiet, there is little drama, there is no paranoia to stoke, what is there to talk about? I'm using the opportunity of contentment to bring new ideas to life and offer something else. Maybe try putting a bet on, or visiting one of the gyms for a sparring fight and try something new. There are many activities available in Philly alone.

If they're not your speed, it doesn't position you well to heckle on us for not doing what you want us to do.

JackMezzo

You say "My line has done the street discussions before. They have triggered them, engaged them, flamed them, been trolled and shot for them"

Why not tell us more?

"efforts are being made to maintain interest and engagement."

And this is to applauded - but, surely, in order for this to be done, those that lead should...  Well, lead?  We are, after all, a community of suspicious souls.  Why aren't murders and attempted murders discussed?  There are, of course, many avenues to discuss these events, but the Streets are our shared commons and should therefore be given precedence, no?

"If they're not your speed, it doesn't position you well to heckle on us for not doing what you want us to do."

You seem to me, JackMezzo, a man of honour, so let's test it.  I didn't heckle - you know fine well that I didn't heckle.  So, with all due respect to the high and undoubtedly deserved status that your title gifts you, why are you talking out of your ass?

I dont always think that people should just look to the ones in charge to keep the streets alive is all I am saying. Why should the leaders of the cities be held accountable for the liveliness in the very place we are standing when there are so many more people than just them in the cities. I would assume you are solely going on the basis that they set a good example for the men and women that work for them to try and give it a go for themselves?

Or set tasks, Cable?  Or financial/ranking inducements?  That sort of thing?

I think those ideas are good, however Im not too sure how many people would implement those ideas, I would assume they would be a bit hit and miss, with people worrying about the turnouts to them.. Saying that JackMezzo has had some fantastic ideas that seem to of worked very well like he mentioned. Maybe we just need more JackMezzo's. I love a good old JackMezzo personally.
