Luna had been given some time off from her duties at Midas Air airport. She now felt like she was off to a great start on her attendance at night school because now she could really put all her focus on the tasks that had been assigned to her by Miss Woodley. "You're a hardworking lass. Don't worry too much about the outcome because I know you'll do just fine." Even though what Miss Woodley said had given Luna even more doubts about her success, she appreciated the subtle message she was giving that she'd turn out just fine. Perhaps she was just overthinking. Luna was grateful that Adonis understood the circumstances she was in as she wouldn't have been able to Midas Air her full efforts if she was stressing about night school at the offices. She was taking a course for tourism hospitality and management - something she'd definitely apply to her flight attendant duties. Luna had visited Ilaria's office before to express her interest in catering to passengers and helping out with the transportation of narcotics. It seemed to be the right for her seeing as that working in the security department wasn't something that peaked her attention. She opted to go with the department that would best appreciate her cheerful and upbeat manner. For seven consecutive days, she had been going off to night school and coming back home around midnight to finish off the homework that she was told to complete before the next week. Apart from the stack of homework, she would also have to complete an internship by the end of the course so she could apply the skills and techniques learnt to her real life. Luna could breathe. Luckily, she didn't have to look too far and wide to find a suitable work environment because she was already with Midas Air. She'd just have to check in with Joe and Ilaria if it's okay for her to complete her internship there. Miss Woodley had extensive research in the tourism industry so Luna was lucky to have her. One night when Luna was just about to exit the vicinity, she was stopped by a question that was directed at her. It seemed imposing at first but Luna welcomed it into her thoughts and kept an open mind. "I wished people actually took the time to go back to school and finish their education rather than waste their life on illegal activities and sinful behaviour. What ever happened to providing a safe space for our future children?" Her blonde hair covered her face as she spoke while her chin was rested in the palm of her hand. Luna looked towards her in a sympathetic manner before carefully approaching. "Miss, look around you. Where are we in right now? A classroom. This is the place you're most comfortable in right? This is the place that suits your personality and skills best?" She knew she was going to take quite a while to help Miss Woodley understand, so she proceeded to pull up a chair across from her then sat on it. Luna set her backpack down on her lap and looked down at the ground for a moment to assess her thoughts. "Everyone is different. We all grew up a certain way, and some took a more harsh beating than others. What I mean by this is that sometimes people don't have a choice, and in that case they may have to resort to violence for long term survival. It's sad to say but it's the truth, Miss. Some people grew up in the ghetto neighbourhoods, and so maybe they lived to be more comfortable around thugs and mobsters. Just like how you work better in a class environment, others - get along better in underground organizations where they don't really have a teacher - but do have someone to answer to." Luna noticed Miss Woodley tilt her head, and it took her a second to respond back. When she did, it came out very slow and silent - like she was afraid someone was listening. Perhaps she was paranoid, but Luna didn't see any reason for why she would be. Civilians were never to get in the mix of things related to the underground world so Luna reassured her with a soft smile. "Luna, do you think - they're watching us right now? Looking, listening.. to our conversation?" The terror in her voice made Luna let out a low giggle to which Miss Woodley was confused by. "Oh, no ma'am. I'm not fussed about that. We aren't the government, that's for sure." Luna winked and left Miss Woodley to her own imagination before waving farewell for the night. Coincidentally, her two guards had been standing outside the classroom for a while now. Luna was facing their backs as she walked down the hallway before she made her presence known with a mighty hello. "What's up gals?!? Sorry about the wait. Couldn't resist having an interesting conversation with my teacher." Her guards looked back at her in an amused manner and proceeded to walk with Luna outside. She was glad to have these two. Their names were Lux and Lei. Two of her most prized possessions because Luna not only thought of them as her guards but they each had a mutual understanding about their strong bond. These two never left Luna's side. How they met would be another story to tell for another day though. |
