The Bus Stop Started by: ArturoStrigliori on Oct 05, '18 22:02

On the corner of two decently well up-kept roads, a little glass and metal enclosure stood. It provided cover on a wet day, a reprieve for the weary traveler. It didn't provide warmth, its occupants did. Papers and other trash would occasionally roll down the road in a gust of wind, providing some action for the patient commuter. Philadelphia was 15 minutes away. Typically a moderate sized crowd would gather on a work day, depart, and then arrive back by the end of the 8 hour day. Occasionally some would linger longer than others, having missed the early bus or merely chatting with an acquaintance.

A constant bustle it was not. Sporadically throughout the day people of all occupations would sit down or wait by the curb for the next bus. They came in waves when they did, a cluster of a few here and a few there. On this particular day, a man stood. He wore an overcoat and a hat, both looked of refined, but modest, taste. When the bus came, he did not get on. He watched as the travelers parted around him, fish in a sea of shuffling movement.

He couldn't help but wonder what caused him to not be living that life. It was entirely plausible, many people did. Guess he was just one of the lucky ones. Would be a shame to squander that opportunity. As he drifted out of his thoughts, he realized someone was approaching him. A familiar face? It was hard to tell. It really could just have been anyone. They sure weren't one of the typical travelers.
