Get the shovels and bury the past Started by: Eddie_Stobart on Oct 29, '18 23:51

Taking a sip from the cup of coffee he was holding, Eddie takes a look at the scenery around him. He was sitting outside of the local cafe, in the morning, drinking coffee and reading the morning newspaper.

The headline reads "Six dead in mass shooting in New Jersey"...

Jesus what a fucking dump. You wouldn't get that type of mediocrity here in Philly. Professionals who knew how to get a job down without attracting a load of heat, that's how Eddie viewed the people from Philly. Classy as fuck you could say.

Eddie takes a look at his watch. He didn't need to be anywhere for a couple more hours at least. Time for another coffee and a smoke. Maybe he could sit and reflect on past events that made him into the wealthy guy he had become. Heck he'd made that much of a name for himself that even the politicians came to him for advice or for a favour.

A couple of hours pass by and Eddie was still sat at his original seat outside of the cafe. He found himself wondering, why the fuck did he even need to go anywhere? The only person who ever had an order for him was Jack Mezzo, and even he knew to leave Eddie to his business. Because his business was making the guy rich.

Having no sense of urgency right at that moment, Eddie began thinking a little more to himself. What would life be like if he left his past behind him and went legit full time? He had enough money to retire and enough connections he'd made through The Race Street Company to keep him well protected from any hits should he retire. Like the old saying goes, the only way out is in a box. Truth was Eddie didn't have no plans on dying. Not any time soon anyway.

What would retirement be like? He wouldn't have to lay low after a job no more. That was something Eddie was beginning to grow tired of. Pulling a job then heading off to the old country was great, but it was coming back and looking over your shoulder that was a pain in the fucking ass.

Would retirement turn him into a nobody? Or would people still remember his name and need him to get stuff done for them on the political scale? Then again would being a nobody be such a bad thing? Maybe he'd done enough favours for people over his illustrious career that just maybe he didn't feel like he owed anyone else a damn thing.

Retirement... It's a scary but beautiful topic to think about. Maybe it's something Eddie would do in the very near future. That's probably not something he could answer for himself. Perhaps it was best to let nature take it's course and to see what could happen. But one day for sure, Eddie wanted to get the shovels and bury his past behind him.

Eddie stood up and drained the last bit of coffee he had in his cup. He looked at his watch once more before deciding it was time to make a move. There was money to be and he could still do with some more money to go into his stash for when the big day came.
