Leo the Lion Started by: Adonis on Nov 05, '18 21:21

In his mind, he was fierce. He felt like an unstoppable force of nature as he walked along the common streets. Like he owned the sidewalk. People moved as he sauntered on by. Some seemed a little curious as to why he was out here. Others, a little scared they were on the same side of the road as him. In all, it didn't matter how they felt or what they thought. He was the king of his domain and he just didn't give a fuck.

Why should he? He was all grown up. When you reached maturity, people saw you differently. Especially if you looked the part. If your days weren't wasted away in front of a bowl of food, or sleeping, being apathetic to the world around you on account of your pack leader's cancerous influence. If in the right hands, environment, training regime, one could really turn into all they were bred to be.

The people he passed looked the same. Beyond the getting out of the way or attempting to make small talk with him, which didn't go over too well, they were like cookie cutter examples of what not to become. Civilians. The hopeful hopeless that had their ideas and ideals set in stone, carved by a social engine that gave no fucks about them or the crumbling of the world around them.

They all spoke the same gibberish. Their lips revealing they really didn't know their ass from their elbows. Who trained these people? Who put the minds into them, the ideas and thoughts that spewed out in meaningless drivel? If he cared to understand their words, he'd end up chasing them away with a fierce rebuttal, regardless if question or statement.

But it wasn't the words he looked for as he passed more of them. It was their body language. And if one had the nous to dig deep enough, their energy. How did they feel? What kind of vibes were they giving off? It spoke louder than anything. It showed their true character. And it was what he went for when he bypassed their incoherent attempts at conversation. Straight to the jugular, but drawing out their level of spirit instead of blood.

As his paws tapped away on the concrete, his ears perked back at the sound of a call. This human he knew. And knew well. He let out a bark as Adonis beckoned him over with a sharp whistle. Off he flew, down the sidewalk, bouncing in and out of the silly lifelike objects to his target. They looked alive, but unless they were truly living their personal legends, they were all but, just more noise pollution that would rot away soon enough. Because unless you had access to your soul, you were never free. Just another spoke in this ever turning wheel of madness they called society.

Not free like Leo the Lion. His loyalty wasn't a choice. His character was ingrained through centuries of evolution. He couldn't feed himself, couldn't walk himself. Hell, he couldn't take a shit without being let out of the house. But the one thing he had that many humans didn't, was that inner freedom. And although by all accounts he was but an animal, he was more so a teacher. Because if you could love something unconditionally as man's best friend did, then you had that same freedom that came with compassion.

"Come on boy, let's head home." Adonis said as he gave Leo a rub behind the ears whilst clipping the leash to his collar.
