At midnight, Jack, they said. Here I am, sitting in this shitty bar, waiting for this guy to bring the money. It's already pass midnight and this blonde is keep talking to me even if I don't give her much attention. Is not that I don't like how she looks or how she talks, she is just fine. But on the other side of the table is this naughty young lady who seems her legs have an attraction for my lizard. The guy I was waiting for just walks into the bar, I have recognized him by the grey coat and the green hat that they told me he will wear. I am not sure if that was his style to dress or he was just trying to make it easier for me to recognize him, but I didn't care much at that moment. It was my first job for the family. They didn't care about the money, all they wanted from me is to prove that I'm trustworthy. An envelope on their desk in the morning would have been enough. And it was. |

The jazz music booming from inside the bar poured out of the entrance. It caught Vela's attention immediately, and reassured herself that this was definitely the place that she was requested to visit. Going back a few moments ago, Vela had been requested to show up at a bar - in Seattle. That was obviously quite a distance from New York, but this was an offer she couldn't refuse. Upon hearing the request, she booked a flight to Seattle as soon as possible and caught the nearest tab to the bar where she would be notified of further instructions of the task. And now as she stood in front of the attraction, her eyes travelled to the ladies and men walking in and out of the doors. It was midnight. Usually places like restaurants, book clubs and record stores would be closed. This was a bar though, and Vela expected for it to be quite crowded. Drunken faces and dazed expressions was included in Vela's forethought. She saw the man she was supposed to meet in the corner of the bar. He sat patiently at a table with his eyes drawn to the glass of whiskey in front of him. Gotcha. Vela started to approach him in a cautious manner, but was suddenly bumped against the shoulder by a man dressed in a grey coat and an obnoxious green hat. It was a fashion no-no. "Watch your step, mate." Vela rolled her eyes, not even caring to look at his face after responding, before continuing on her way. |
