A sudden death in the Family Started by: Glaurung on Nov 13, '10 17:57

Glaurung stared down into his lap, which the picture of his dearest mother sat. A single tear rolled down his cheek. He felt like he was going to vomit. Though, the rocking ship didn't help the feeling one bit. Four years it's been since Gluarung left back for the old country. Leaving his mother and two brothers and sister. His younger brother, Timmy had died two years ago. He just heard word that his mother was shot and killed in a mob war, that took place in Time Square.

He forced himself to take his eyes off the picture, he couldn't think about it, he had to think of something else. Laying down in his bunk, he quickly fell into a deep sleep.

The jerk of the ship is what woke him up. He blinked a few times, sitting up and grabbing his luggage. He knew that the ship had stopped in New York. Making his way to the deck, he adjusted his eyes. He'd been in the dark for god knows how long. The bright sunlight burned his eyes, he stammered up the steps, shielding his eyes. The wait to get off of the boat seemed to last an eternity.

As all of the immigrants got off the boat, American's threw rocks, spit, cursed. "They can be so agressive." A man walking near Glaurung said. G nodded. Shoving his way past a few Americans, he noticed one face that differed from his crowd. "Nina." Gluarung whispered as he ran to his baby sisters side, giving her a hug.

"How've you been?" Glaurung asked through a heavy Italian accent. Nina shook her head slowly. "I miss her." Nina said, a tear in her eye. Her english was much better than Glaurungs, he noticed from her first words. He nodded and hugged her again. "Let's go see Michael." She said, leading Glaurung through the crowd and to her car.

Though they hadn't seen eachother in years, the car ride was silent. Not a word was said, until the car came to a stop. "Here we are." Nina said, turning the car off, and opening her door. Michael and a few family freinds stood outside in the cold, talking.

Glaurung gave his old friends a hug, saying hello. It was Michael who hadn't even acknowledged him. Glaurung stared at his brother in disbelief. "What, no hello? No hug?" Glaurung asked, obviously irritated. Michael scoffed. "Don't worry about him, G. He's still upset about your mother." Jimmy said, trying to break the tension.

"Yeah, well she was my mother too!" Glaurung shouted, which finally got his brothers attention. "How could you say that? Were you here these last four years? Were you sitting beside her as she bled out with a bullet in her chest?" Michael exlaimed, inching closer and closer to G.

Glaurung shoved Michael back, causing him to retrieve a .357 magnum from his coat. Aiming it directly at his brother. "We've already got one dead sibling in this family!" Nina said, trying to convince Michael to put the gun down.

The two men stared at eachother, Glaurung knew Michael would have easily pulled the trigger and went on with his life like any normal day. Not wanting any more trouble to be caused, G got back into Nina's car, beckoning her to come over and drive him to his apartment.
