Once Kaeden came back Lydia grabbed her two beers, one in each hand. She took a sip out of one then the other, there was no point in putting either of them down or was there? It may have been a good idea to keep one hand free in case another foul ball came in her direction. The thought of that ball flying towards her head infuriated her as she put the beer in her right hand down in the cup holder in between the two. That’s when Kaeden tosses the wallet on her lap. “What do I want with this thing? I already have all the good stuff.” Kaeden with a beer in one hand and his glove on the other turned to her with a look on his face. It was a look of whatever, whatever that kind of look is like. “Well my hands are full, just put it in your pocket for now. We will figure out what to do with it after these round of beers, ok?” Lydia shrugged then took another sip of her beer, the wallet still sitting on her lap was a bit enticing. She definitely was more interested in it then the game. Maybe there was more in the wallet, something she missed. The thought of that spread like wildfire in her mind, she chugged the remaining bit of beer and tossed her cup on the ground. Suddenly a cheer roared through the crowd and nearly everyone stood up and cheered, Lydia looked around to see what was going on but between the people standing all around here and her lack of care she locked her eyes back onto the wallet. Lydia picked it up off her lap, holding it in her hands she looked to her left then to her right before opening it once again. The money was obviously gone so those pouches were empty, the ID was still in place. Lydia took it out and gave it a look over before tucking it back into the spot it was in. The next pocket had a picture of a couple kids, must have been his. Still it was nothing important. The last pocket had a couple business cards in it, again nothing special. She was about to close the wallet back up until she noticed something, it was a slight defect in the wallet or so that’s what it looked like. She picked her head up and gave a look around once more, everyone but herself was fixated on the game so she went back down into the wallet. She pulled and the defect which opened up a secret pocket. There was a piece of paper in it, which she pulled out and opened. 8-21-9-65-3 It was a lock combination. Lydia nudged Kaeden with her elbow. ”Ouch! What?” Lydia handed him the piece of paper, he looked down at it then back at her. “What’s this?” ”What’s it look like?” ”Well it looks like a really long lock combo.” ”Bingo!” She waved the wallet at him then chucked in underneath the seat in front of her. “Well I guess that’s one way to get rid of it but what do you think is in whatever safe that combo is for?” ”A combination that big it has to be something good, right?” |

"Oh snap. We gotta find out what lock or safe that code is too! Mayor of Chicago, it could be anything! Now I am dying to find out!" Kaeden sat there daydreaming about all of the possibilities while sipping his beer. It could be a bank vault, maybe its a personal safe at his home? Or his office? Maybe the city keeps a bunch of money locked up somewhere for emergencies? The possibilities were endless. Kaeden looked over at Lydia and she seemed to be in deep thought as well... he could tell the same thoughts were running through her head. 'Well, one way or another we are gonna find out! Who would have thought your habit of finding trouble everywhere we go would pay off so well?!" Kaeden said. "I would. I would have thought that's who!" Lydia responded crossing her arms and sitting back in her seat. Before Kaeden could respond Riggs Stephenson smashed a three-run home run to straightaway center field for the Cubs to tie the game 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Kaeden jumped up to his feet and raised his arms with the rest of the crowd. Lydia meanwhile remained seated with her arms crossed and muttered something under her breath about the 'stupid Cubs team'. "I don't understand how you can cheer for that team. They tried to kill me!" She said as Kaeden sat back down and grabbed his second beer. "Oh come on, I told you that wasn't on purpose. Chicago is home now, gotta support the hometown team! Besides, the Phillies suck!" Said Kaeden with a laugh. Kaeden finished his beer before speaking again, he was still thinking about the mayor's combination Lydia had found. "So, how do we find out what that combination you found unlocks? We can't really just guess can we?" |

Lydia sat back in her seat to give it some thought, she really had no idea where to start. It could have been anything, anywhere and in a city like Chicago it could take them forever to find whatever safe that combination was for. Was it to the safe for the city? Just imagine it was, the amount of money in that thing could set the pair of them up for a lifetime. Hell even if it was his own personal safe it still probably had a shit ton of money it, either way it was probably loaded. Lydia looked up at the scoreboard, it was still only the 7th inning. “Ugh there’s still a couple innings left?” Kaeden glanced over to Lydia then to the scoreboard. “Well it could more actually.” ”More?? What the fuck, why more.” ”Well you see the game is tied 4-4 and well the game keeps going until someone wins with the most runs. Someone could score now and it could end in 9 or someone can score in the 18th and win that way.” ”Hold up 18 innings? That’s...” She did some quick math in her head. “11 more innings from now, really that’s like a whole other game. If that’s the case I’m gonna need more beer and lots of it.” She picked up the one remaining beer she had and chugged it, tossing the empty glass on the ground and wiping her lips with the back of her hand. “So, more beer?” |

Kaeden held out his hand waiting for Lydia to give him some cash for the beer he was apparently going to get, she just looked at his hand like she didn't understand though. "Oh come on, if I am going for drinks the mayor is paying!" Kaeden said, keeping his hand out as he spoke. "Oh, well... fine. I thought you were trying to hold hands or some shit..." Lydia said as she fished around in her pocket for some money. She put a few dollars in his hand and went back to rooting for the Yankees. Kaeden was pretty sure she wouldn't mind the Cubs winning at this point, as long as it didn't go into extra innings. He took the money though and headed back up to the concession stand. It was an uneventful journey there and back this time, he headed up, ordered and paid for four more beers and took them back down to the seats. As he sat back down Lydia immediately grabbed two of the beers and started to drink one of them. "Hey, thanks!" She managed to say between gulps. It was the bottom of the 8th inning now and the score was still tied. This was going to be a good finish so he really hoped Lydia made those two beer last long enough. With his luck she would send him on another beer trip right in the middle of the 9th and he would miss the finish. Just as that thought was passing through his head he heard a familiar sound at his feet, it was the clanking noise an empty plastic cup made when it was tossed onto the hard ground. Kaeden looked at his two beers, both still full and untouched, and placed one of them in Lydia's cup holder. "I think you're going to need this before I do..." He said as he put it down. Kaeden put his glove back on and focused on the game again. His mind kept wandering back to the lock combination as he sat there watching though... it was all he could focus on. He nudged Lydia with his elbow to get her attention. "So, any ideas for how we can find out what that thing unlocks? I'll just rob his house and his office until we find out if I have too... that would be far from ideal though..." Kaeden was interrupted suddenly by a huge roar from the crowd, apparently the Cubs had just scored to take the lead. He had completely missed what had happened but he assumed the fella jogging around the base paths had just hit a solo home run. The scoreboard now read 5-4 for the Cubs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th. Kaeden stood up clapping as the Cubs player rounded third base. "Woohoo go Cubs!" He shouted. Lydia gave him a disapproving glare and she stood up beside him. "Booo! You suck! Booooooooo!" She screamed down as everyone in the crowd around them gave her dirty looks. |

The crowd silenced a bit as the runner went back into the dugout, people sat their asses back down and continued to watch the game. Lydia and Kaeden also sat back down, she picked up the beer Kaeden had given her and took another big gulp. By this time she had lost count on the amount of beers she had but they were definitely starting to take affect on her. She wasn't drunk but she was feeling good. She sprung out of her seat as the Yankees caught a fly ball to end the inning. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, LETS GO YANKEES!!!!" Kaeden reached up grabbing her by the shirt pulling her back into her seat. "Would you stop that, we don't need you bringing any unwanted attention to us." "Unwanted attention? I have a something that will stop unwanted attention." She reached for her waistband, Kaeden knew exactly what she was reaching for as he quickly stopped her hand and directed it towards more beer. "I think you've used that thing enough today, plus this isn't the most ideal place to pull that thing out." Lydia gave him a look before a smile, then grabbed the beer taking another sip. "Ok, ok... Oh and regards to that combination I have the slightest idea where to even start. I can go find him and just ask him, you want me to go do that?" |

"Go find the mayor and ask? Seriously? How's that conversation gonna go?... 'excuse me, sir, I stole your wallet earlier and found this combination inside of it, can you tell me what it unlocks so I can rob you again?'... yeah that sounds like a wonderful plan." Kaeden took a sip of his beer and continued to think until Lydia interrupted. "I could totally get him to tell me I just need to..." Kaeden cut her off mid-sentence. "No that's a horrible idea, we'll just have to tail him for a few weeks and see how much we can find out about the guy. It'll be worth it if that combination unlocks what we think it does." Kaeden said as he tried his best to follow what was happening in the game. "You're no fun. Fine, we'll do it your way." Lydia said sounding a little discouraged. It didn't take long for Lydia to cheer back up, a few more sips of beer and a Babe Ruth home run later and she was standing up screaming again. Kaeden didn't even bother pulling her back down into her seat this time, he figured she looked like she was having way too much fun all of a sudden. She was the only one in the entire stands on her feet and was really enjoying rubbing it in the hometown fan's faces. She finally sat back down and turned to Kaeden as it was heading into the bottom of the 9th tied 5-5. "You know this baseball thing isn't too shabby. I could get used to this!" She said with a big smile. "Well I am glad you're enjoying yourself, does this mean I am fun again?" He responded. As the players came out onto the field for the bottom of the 9th inning Kaeden's focus shifted back to the baseball. He had actually grown up a pretty big Cincinnati Reds fan, he figured he should probably embrace the home team though. Chicago actually had two teams but the White Socks were a mess... he had a feeling he'd be making his way to a lot of Cubs game now that he lived in Chicago. As the first pitch of the bottom of the 9th was about to be thrown everyone in the stands suddenly stood up waiting for their team to win with a dramatic walk-off. Kaeden figured he might as well embrace it and stood up with them, besides he could no longer see the field sitting down. "Woooo go Cubs!" |

"Well with booze everything is fun, though you're not playing the game. So I still think you need to prove that you're fun." Lydia stood up as just as everyone else was doing. It really didn't help any, she still couldn't see over the people in front of her. She gave Kaeden a nudge in the midst of his Wooo go Cubs chant. She actually nudged him pretty hard, a lot harder then she meant to. He immediately grabbed his side and gave her an evil glare. "Owww, what the hell was that for?" "I can't see." "Ok, so you elbow me in the side?" "Yeah well, I didn't mean to get you that hard but still the point is I can't see." "I don't know what to tell you, maybe stand on your chair?" Lydia looked back at her chair then back to Kaeden. It wasn't a bad idea actually, the extra height of the seat would surely be enough for her to see over the people in front of her. There was only one issue, a stadium seat isn't the easiest thing to get onto and stay on. Especially when you're countless of beers in. Now she wasn't drunk but she was definitely feeling good. She pulled down the seat with her right hand then placed her right foot on it to hold it down. With her left hand she used Kaeden as a holding onto point as she lifted her left leg up and guided it towards the chair. With a slight wobble and a tighter grip onto Kaeden she was able to balance herself. Now all she had to do was turn around, which shouldn't be too hard or so she thought. The moment she turned her ankles the seat shifted, there was no coming back from this one. She slid off the chair and directly onto Kaeden whom she was still trying to use as a post. Luckily for her he kind f saw it coming and helped keep her upright. "You're welcome!" Lydia chuckled to herself as Kaeden had a hold of her. "Hey thanks but you can let me go now, I think I'm good." Kaeden hesitated then let go, the moment he let go the sound of a ball off a bat echoed through the ballpark. The stadium went wild, people were cheering and giving each other high fives. Kaeden quickly whipped his head around to see what was going on but it was too late, he missed it. "What the hell, how it is that every time something happens I'm distracted?" He slowly turned his head in Lydia's direction, insinuating she had something to do with it. She immediately got what he was trying to say without actually saying it. "Hey! It's not my fault." |

As the stands emptied and everyone funnelled out of the exit Kaeden and Lydia remained behind to wait for the crowd to die down. Neither of them felt like fighting their way through that mess and trying to get a cab. As they sat there though Kaeden realized what time is was. "Oh crap, we really should get back to the HQ. Rubix is probably wondering what the hell happened to us. I can't wait to tell him what happened to his car..." Kaeden said as he stood up. Lydia remained seated and looked up to Kaeden with an attempt at an innocent looking smile. "Oh you worry too much, he'll get the car back!" She said. "Oh sure, bullet hole and all! Oh well... come on..." Kaeden said as he grabbed Lydia's arm and helped her up. They made their way out to the still crowded parking lot and headed straight towards the road. Kaeden wasn't sure how she pulled it off but Lydia walked right past the crowd of people that were waiting at the taxi stand and over to the window of the first cab to pull up. She leaned over and chatted with the driver through the window for a few seconds ignoring all the yelling and complaining from the people waiting behind her. She then turned and waved for Kaeden to come over and get in. Several people shouted at them that there was a line, and who the hell do they think they are. Kaeden followed Lydia's lead and just ignored them though. As they got in the taxi Kaeden gave the man the address of the HQ and he pulled the car back out onto the road. Lydia must have noticed the confused expression on his face as Kaeden sat there staring at her because she squinted her eyes at him and made some sort of odd noise. "Haammmph? Was what it sounded like. Kaeden could at least make out what she meant, and that the noise was meant as a question. "How the hell did you manage that? Usually after something like a ball game I end up waiting hours?!" He asked. Lydia just smiled and shrugged her shoulders before turning and looking out her window at the scenery of Chicago. It was night time now, something about night time and all of the lights made you realize how big the city was. Philadelphia had been a big city as well... but neither of them were quite used to the whole big city thing yet. Eventually the cab came to a stop and Kaeden snapped out of his daze and paid the man. "Welcome home!" He said to Lydia as they got out of the cab and headed towards the front door of the HQ. "Oh wow, this is nice!" She said as she came to a stop on the front lawn and admired the building. "Yeah, wait til you see inside! You'll get along great with everyone! I am sure Rubix is waiting to show you to your room." Kaeden said as he waited at the door for Lydia to snap out of it and follow him in. |
