I boarded the plane, it was time to go home. I had spent the weekend on the west coast and I was taking my usual flight back to New York airport. This flight didn't seem to have the usual passengers though, I started to notice there was a more diverse culture on the flight. I took my seat inside the row next to the window closer to the front of the plane, it was first come first serve and this flight looked like there wasn't gonna be an empty seat left. I still wasn't sure what was going on as I sat patiently waiting for the rest of the passengers to board. What looked to be a young couple sat in the row next to me and from the way they were dressed I could tell that they were native to California where I was departing from. They looked well off and I couldn't help but wonder what was bringing them to New York. They must be newly weed I thought to myself, but it didn't explain why so many others were on the usually normal flight. The final passengers were loaded and everyone had finally taken their seats, we were ready for take off. We were on the run way and into the air in no time on our cross country flight to my home town. The flight attendant brought us a few drinks and a snack then I decided to get more comfortable and lay my head down next to the window. Trying to get a few Zzz's before I got home would be tough as this couple was way to eager to land. I couldn't help but start to listen in on the conversation the two of them were having. They weren't being quiet by any means so I figured I mine as well listen and see what all this commotion was about. "I can't believe it's finally opening", the woman said. I can't believe what is opening I thought to myself? There was always construction going on in Brooklyn and Manhattan, had I missed something major and was I always this busy? I continued to ease drop on the couple to see if I could figure out more about what was opening. "I heard it even has a restaurant or two inside", said the man with an excited tone. "If I win big we will have to spend the nights meal with a special bottle of wine to celebrate." It was at that moment that I had finally pinpointed what the two had been talking about and why all of the others were traveling East to New York. The city had finished the building of the brand new casino thanks to the funding of the Godfather Chairman Jermaine_Clement. It was an obvious statement that New York's organized crime families were stepping it up and venturing into the gambling business. There was money to be made and I could see that it was going to be pouring in from all over the country first hand. I began to get excited about the thought of a new casino in our city. The city that never slept had an exciting new attraction and I couldn't help but disregard my other responsibilities as I wanted to be a part of the grand opening. Interrupting the couple I asked more about the casino and their plans once they got into New York. They explained that they had reserved a romantic suite at he casinos connected hotel and there was going to be a large turnout tonight for the grand opening. The plain finally came to a stop and we slowly offloaded, I thanked the couple for their time and wished them the best of luck with there time at the casino. I traveled light so I grabbed my carry on bag and went straight for my car parked waiting for me. I quickly got in and headed for downtown, it wouldn't be long before the celebration would begin and I didn't wanna miss out. Once I finally got out of the airport traffic and found what seemed like a impossible parking spot I made my way towards the casino. It was normal for the sidewalks of Brooklyn to be packed with pedestrian traffic but this was insane. I nervously made my way through the packed crowds towards the casino, I could now see the building for the first time. The lights on the billboard shined bright on the white building, it was a glorious site and just a small taste of what I assumed was yet to come. Taking a moment to stop and catch my breathe I got a little closer to the billboard so I could read it.
Brilliant was the word that came to my mind when reading the billboard. I made my way through the crowd and towards the bottom of the stairs leading towards the casino. I had made it in at the right time as Godfather Chairman Jermaine_Clement and they mayor of New York city were atop the stairs proceeding with the ribbon cutting ceremony. Signifying that the casino was now open for business the masses rushed into the building. I'd never seen so many people excited for the opportunity to win big. I couldn't wait to get inside, but I waited for the crowd to dissipate a bit before making my way up the stairs. Once most of the crowd was inside I made my way up the stairs making sure I stopped to shake hands with the Godfather Chairman and the mayor. As they stood by the entrance I made my way inside and was more then pleased to see the interior of the casino. I was more excited to see the detail of the place more then the gambling aspect personally, but I would still try my luck once I was done looking around. It was obvious that GFC Clement didn't spare at any detail this place was amazing and sure to bring in a lot of revenue. I took a look around at everyone gambling and living life in the moment. The environment of the casino was contagious and it looked like everyone was getting in on the fun. Their were a lot of familiar faces in the casino tonight for the grand opening. After walking to the bar to grab a drink I noticed Ronin and ElenaMicheals in mid conversation at the blackjack table. I briefly smiled and waved over at the two of them it had been some time since I'd seen them. As I kept walking I couldn't help but soak in the attention to detail from the paintings to the furniture decor. I was definitely impressed with the work that had been done here. Keeping stride I walked past the first restaurant I encountered inside, it was very romantic and very Italian. As I walked by I noticed Madeline and Jadus having a candle lit dinner, the two looked like they were enjoying there night. I made my way past countless slot machines and even ran into HandsomeRob gambling the night away. He was dressed to impress as always and had a few fine ladies by his side so I didn't take up much of his time. Finally making my way past the slot machines I found myself in front of what looked like a poker tournament. The tables were all roped off and there was a big pile of cash sitting on a table with a few armed guards. There were quite a few familiar faces sitting around the tables but one in particular stood out. My ScouseFather Space-pole was sitting pretty with a large stack of chips at his table. I gave him a thumbs up wishing him some good luck but it looked like he was already set on winning. It was exciting to see that most of New York had made it out for the ceremony and the celebration. Finishing up my first drink I continued to stroll around checking everything out. I stopped at another bar and got an expensive fruit cocktail this time. I spotted my friend and family member Zeitgeist over at the roulette tables for I figured I would go join him for a few moments before I made an exit for the evening. Walking up it looked like he was betting his large stack of chips on lucky number red 7. I'm not sure if it was coincidence of me being good luck but it landed on that 7 and the crowd around the table erupted with excitement. Zeitgeist had just hit it big and he was taking his stack of chips to the bank to cash in. I helped him with his winnings over to the cash office and they paid him out. I shook his hand to congratulate him on his success. It had been a long day and an extremely exciting night, but I was exhausted and it was time for me to get some rest. I found the Godfather Chairman on my way out and thanked him again for the opportunity to be a part of his grand ceremony. |

*Zeitgeist had been sitting at the roulette wheel for some time when Faith approached the wheel and his luck finally started to take a turn for the better. The Truth casino was an incredible resort tables as far as the eye could see, quite literally the most beautiful croupiers he had ever laid his eyes onto, ever. Zeitgeist had played a lot of BlackJack already and if they ever made 22 a casino game he would be an instant millionaire but 21 was proving to be a lot more challenging. He had tried the slots but all the flashing lights were starting to make him feel a touch dizzy. It wasn't until Faith and that beautiful number 7 until Zeitgeist's fortunes began to change. He took a long sip on his whiskey on the rocks and called out...*
"Can I get 1, 9 and 29 and the neigbours by $100,000"
*Zeitgeist sat back down in his chair watching the croupier give him a stunned look; this was a very sizeable bet... The croupier looked over to the pit boss who gave a quick nod to signal it was okay for the bet to be placed. At the end of the day this was a pretty pointless exercise as whatever money he won belonged to New York anyways, and anything he lost was going to the same place anyways, this was literally the definition of pointless, but still somewhat fun. The wheel spun what seemed a lot faster than normal before dancing all over the table and landed right on the 29. Zeitgiest let out a very loud scream to celebrate and security immediately started moving towards him; luckily Jemaine_Clement was seated close to Zeitgeist and ushered them away. Zeitgeist looked over to the croupier and said*
"Just make sure my winnings go straight back into the casino"
*Zeitgeist made his way over to Faith for a chat* |

"Well ain't that the bee's knees!" Aloisus exchanged a smile with her date as the woman to their left exclaimed at the magnificent of the Truth Casino. The gentleman the woman was with started to bumble on about the architectural detail as the four of them headed towards the entrance at the same time. Her date, The Senator, slowed his pace to distance themselves from the couple that had arrived at the same time. "I've got to be doing better than that guy." The Senator said, motioning ever so slightly at the couple ahead of them. My good senator, aren't you just the bee's knees! Aloisus teased him in reply. Over exaggeration in her tone, but the smirk in her eyes and the smile on her lips let him know she was being playful. It's just the best night I've had in a very long time. The Senator squeezed her arm entwined with his and they took to the steps. By the time the couple entered the casino the other one had already departed into the crowd. Aloisus was treated to an unobstructed view of the gambling hub. The place was filled to the brim with bodies. Opening weekend had been a success! "Where would you like to start?" The Senator asked her. Aloisus didn't really know what to pick. She had tried her hand at black jack a few times in the past, but lady luck had never been on her side with the game. Poker was more up her alley, but Aloisus would only play with people she didn't know, in locations that were not her home. She decided on the roulette table and let The Senator know she'd meet him at a table after she powdered her nose. Pick a lucky one! She called and slipped away to the ladies room. All of the bathrooms Aloisus had been in recently have been fancy af. Truth's ladies room trumped them all. It was if she was stepping into a posh lounge instead of a restroom. Whoever said that women's bathrooms are no better than men's had never been here. Aloisus made her way towards the sinks and mirrors. She had gone to the salon earlier and had one of the girls put her long blonde hair up into the style of those flapper girls that are all the rage these days. She wanted to make sure that none of the 1700 bobby pins her stylist had put in hadn't attempted escape. Wouldn't that be embarrassing if The Senator had leaned down for a good luck kiss and a pin took out his eye. She had no plans that the night would end up in the hospital. Aloisus pushed in any pins that seemed to have slipped and reapplied her signature mauve lippy. A swipe with her finger under her right eye to remove any mascara dust and a wink at herself in mirror, Aloisus was ready. As she was headed out of the restroom, she had to pass through a woman's lounge. One of the women chatting stopped her with a compliment. "Are those the new..." Her eyes fell from Aloisus down to the heals she was wearing. As if uttering the designer name was too expensive for her. They are indeed. "Very, very nice." Aloisus smiled to the women and wished them a fun time. She was happy someone noticed her outfit. She liked the attention. And it wasn't like she had any expectations that The Senator would bother noticing her shoes. Women dressed up for other women. She was able to quickly find her date at one of the roulette tables. The Senator greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and squeezed a spot next to him at the table. "Doll, you look as beautiful as ever." Aloisus blushed. She knew it, but it was still nice flirting with him. "I'll need you to do me something in a few seconds. It's a very important job. Do you think you are up for the task?" The Senator asked her and she opened her eyes, her large dark lashes framing her eyes, in excitement. I'll do my best. Aloisus smiled and when The Senator picked up the dice, laid them flat in her hands and told her to blow on them for good luck she did. As the dice rolled down the table the excitement grew from everyone around it. She then understood why people liked gambling. |
