Charlie walked the Philly streets with a calming aura around him, his eyes held warmth, but also cautiousness. He always had to be like this, being a mobster while having its perks, was not always the best when it came to a long filled life with the family and parties, no it was a more 24/7 Job. He walked into a park, he noticed that many parents were with their kids, enjoying the spare time that they had as a family, something that Charlie wished he could have done with his, yet that was never to be, with a bitter chuckle, he sat down on a bench, still watching the family with sad eyes, before turning away, as he suddenly found the ground more interesting than the private scene in front of him. He looked around, leaning back into the bench, he knew that in terms of comfort it was not better than his leather chair, but he was not sitting on it for comfort, it reminded him of the hardships that other people went through to get stuff as he had, stuff that they had to break their backs for. "How much do I take for granted, its pretty sad now that I think about it. They break their backs, while I cut corners and make money a much more profitable way. Some people have the stomach, others? Well, others don't and work 7 to 12, with no chance of seeing their famillies..." He sighed, before shaking his head, not wanting those thoughts to get into his head before he sprouted wings and wanted to be as saintly as an angel. He closed his eyes as if waiting for something, but it never came and so he kept them closed, almost as if wishing that he could live like the honorable people for a day, to see what it was like from their eyes. |

"Hello Mister, what are you doing out here alone? Isn't your mommy here with you?" Charlie turned his head, looking at the person who had interrupted his peaceful silence with such a soothing tone that it had him smiling with his eyes closed. He shook his head, turning to the woman, who he found was not a woman or a teenager even, it was a toddler, looking up at him with a rather adorable smile that had him smiling back. He found himself leaning forward, noticing the girl's mother and father were looking at him and their daughter with fear adorning their faces. "Do I look old enough to have a mommy little one?" He asked with his usual cheeky grin that had the little girl biting her cheek, trying to figure it out, before she nodded a yes. It was clear that she thought him young and he had a beaming smile on his face, clearly, he looked younger than the others who he associated with, them being his own boss and others. "Yes Mister, you don't look any younger than my teacher! She's young and really pretty, so everyone has a mommy, and so should you." He was stumped, not believing that a little girl had this much knowledge inside her head, sometimes Kids really saw things differently from the adults. He leaned back, crossing his legs over one another, wanting to hear what she had to say regarding anything else. He found that the child had an odd intellect that he was rather fond of. "Hm, everyone has a mommy? Where did you learn that?" The toddler had pointed to her parents, who had turned pale, possibly thinking that their little girl was informing the infamous Charlie Pavanno of something that would land them in trouble with his kind, only to find him smiling at them, nodding in what looked like approval. "Hm, how about we go talk with your parents, huh? I would like to hear more of the teachings that they taught you, cause they have raised a bright young girl." He stood up, holding out his hand, to which she took, her whole hand wrapping around his large finger, to which he found amusing before he walked towards the parents. Who looked at him with confusion written along their faces before looking to one another, knowing that they had no other choice to get back their daughter and talk with Charlie, who obviously wanted something from them... |

"Jessica! Get over here now!" The mother had yelled out to her daughter, wanting her back in her protective embrace, while the father had kept her eyes on Charlie Pavanno. Knowing that if something was to happen, then he would need to protect his family, with whatever means necessary, even if it meant killing a member of the so-called honored society. The only difference with this, was that Charlie had let her go, allowing her to go into the parents embrace, as he watched with a sad smile, remembering the small moments that he had with his broken family, moments like this as he grew up were few and far between, as the monster underneath his father had started to reveal itself with small bouts of anger. It was not something he enjoyed remembering, but he could only compare now. There was no monster underneath this family, it was only a bond, family and love. Something that he only had one of and still, it was never the best. At times, he wished that he could go back, but it was never to be and he knew that his fate as a mobster was set in stone. He would die in the life of crime, the only way out was in a box and he had yet to make his bed, so to speak, but when he did, he knew that he would be resting with the angels and he would finally have the peace that he craved for. "Sorry mommy, this man looked lonely and I just wanted to cheer him up!" Charlie looked down at the child with a tilted head, wondering when he looked lonely, but if this bright child was able to see it, then it must have been true, he thought half sarcastically and truthfully. He looked to the parents who still looked at him with a bit of worry before their daughter had rushed over to them. "You've raised a wonderful daughter, I was wondering, could I perhaps take you guys to a Restaurant? It would be a thank you gift, your daughter is one of the special ones and I think she deserves some kind of reward. Are you willing to accept that reward?" He asked with his usual friendly tone that he used around civilians but the difference was, this was actually genuine that he never noticed. The parents had looked to one another before nodding, as Charlie had motioned for them to follow. He had a feeling that this was going to be an interesting day... |

Charlie had taken the family to The Fuselage Bar and he noticed a couple High Rollers, men of notoriety and some City Officials, as well as the occasional Police Chief. It seemed that the bar was quite popular among the more influential people in the city of Brotherly Love. He had to smile as he guided the family that he had just met over to the booth, he noticed Maggie Greene entertaining a few guests, but made sure to remain unnoticed, knowing that this presence would start something that he did not want to bring up again. "Sir, what is your name? I never got it." Charlie heard the little girl's voice call out to him, he sighed, knowing that telling her his name, meant revealing to the parents that he was not the best person to be around their daughter. Only he did not care, he wanted to see what this child thought of the life if this was indeed a prodigal child or perhaps, just had a common sense that most people did not even have at the age of 18. "My name is Charles, but you can call me Chuck or Charlie." The little girl nodded, before walking back to her parents, who seemed to be smiling down at their daughter still, but it was a little forced and strained. They knew she was smart for her age, but to ask the name of someone high up in a society that they had no business associating with was something that they would not dare try, yet their daughter seemed to have no fear at all and clearly was not afraid of anyone here. They had to wonder, was it a good thing or a bad thing? Charlie walked towards the counter and called out to the bartender, noticing that there were some friendly options for children that he was obviously glad for. He did not need the parents looking at him like he was kind of Lord that ordered his subjects to drink. "Angelo, two OJs, and a bottle of sparkling apple cider? Is that good?" Angelo the bartender nodded before getting the order and having a waiter bring it to the table, making sure to keep an eye on the table, wondering what was going on in the mind of Charles, he had not come to the bar that much, but when he was, he usually had the air of business around him. Yet this was different and he simply had a friendly, cautious vibe surrounding him. Charlie walked back to the booth, sliding into the opposite side of the family, clearly, they wanted to keep some distance between himself and their daughter. Only Charlie leaned forward, looking around the bar cautiously. "Little one, what can you tell me about the people here? How do they seem to you? Do they seem as lonely as I did?" There it was, he asked the question and all he had to do was wait; wanting to see if this child was as smart as she seemed or just lucky. |

Jessica looked at Charlie with a face of pure innocence, wondering why he was asking such a question. Only she shrugged her shoulders, observing the Fuselage and could not help but the atmosphere seemed a bit different than with Charlie. She could tell with the adult opposite her that he was kind and warm-hearted, that he would not want to do anything bad as her mother and father had often preached to her not to do, to which she listened, knowing the kind of person that she wanted to be. Only comparing Chuck to these other men, well it did not feel correct or fair, would be the better word. With Chuck, he was naturally kind-hearted and good, to her, it was like he was molded by the people he worked with and often changed himself to fit the ideas and standards that the people in charge wanted for him, or perhaps, he wanted to change himself. Not wanting to feel weak or perhaps, not living up to the potential that he had seen in himself. "Chuck, there is not much of a comparison here and it would be unfair. The men here, well I can see that some are naturally different to you, they don't seem to radiate your kindness and would rather be left alone to their own business. You, on the other hand, had spoken with me, even though I interrupted your time and I believe that makes you one of the good ones, instead of shooing me off, like I didn't matter." Charlie looked at her with wide eyes, as he darted his eyes between the parents and the young lady, wondering where she had found this info, even though he had never told her to compare himself to the men that were around him and these were the men that he often associated with on business. "And what makes you think that I am one of the Good ones? I could be bad, like them." He asked with a soft voice, that held vulnerability, wondering what a child would know about The Life or him for example, he knew what he had done and he was hardly one of the good ones. "I don't know, you just seem like one who was made the way he was because of circumstance, not a choice." Charlie leaned back, watching the girl with a soft smile, before noticing Angelo coming over, obviously wanting to take their order. He leaned forward, knowing that he would give the bartender an amazing tip for his service here today. He looked to the parents, motioning them to order what they wanted as he sat back, thinking over what the little child had just said. |

"I don't know, you just seem like one who was made the way he was because of circumstance, not a choice." Was he truly this way because of Circumstance? Or was it because that he chose to become the monster that innocent people fear? Was he made this way because of his father? Or himself? All of them good questions and yet he could answer neither, he did not know the answer and it was left to him to answer. He remembered the moments, the moments that he did things for a family. He craved it and heck, even lusted after it. The idea of it, well, it was euphoric to him and he could never have enough. The question continued to echo in his mind, even when the parents had finished ordering and everyone looked to him, as he simply muttered that he would take the usual. He noticed that the little girl was looking at him with a sad smile, before she turned her head away, looking out towards the window. He noticed that two men had arrived in a Lincoln K Series sports car, as they seemed to be arguing back and forth as they entered the establishment. "Do you know who they are?" Charlie asked towards the little girl with a small calm smile, before she turned her head to him, her innocent smile still in place, but it seemed a little strange, like this time, she was forcing it, instead of it being genuine, as usual. "Yes, they're Daniel and Samael Colt, they are the local Police Officers, they seem to be investigating a number of bad things that have been happening throughout the neighborhood, Chuck." He could not help but remember that he had known of plenty Officers in South Philly and these guys did not ring a bill, so either they were undercover or they were not Police Officers at all, either way, he was going to find this day more interesting than usual. The two men had walked towards their booth and stared him down like he was the enemy himself, but before they could get a word in, he raised a hand, stopping them. Only that seemed to piss them off as they looked at him blankly, which in turn, made him smirk internally, while on the outside, he kept his face blank. "Daniel and Samael Colt, the former name coming from the Hebrew origin that God is My Judge. While the latter, Samael, well it means Poison of God. Also, Seducer and Destroyer, but also, an important figure in the bible as he is one of the first Archangels that God trusted. So tell me, were your parents religious?" And with that simple statement, Chuck had made an enemy of two Local Officers, that were clearly here for more than food, booze, and entertainment. |
