Power Couples Started by: Ronin on Nov 30, '18 16:15

Ronin was enjoying some alone time in Odin's HQ with his main squeeze, ElenaMichaels.  They were more than just partners in crime, they were soulmates. No one could tear them apart, not even aloisus and her ample bosom. He sat there in his favorite comfy chair, Elena on his lap reading a magazine. It was bliss.

This wonderful escape from the rigors of being a mafioso got him thinking about other great couples throughout the history of "our thing." Many names and faces flashed before his eyes, and he got to thinking, which power couple was THE power couple? The greatest of them all?

He brought it to the streets.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I come before you today to pose a question. But first, a bit of monologue."

He smiled out at the crowd, where his beloved Elena stood staring rapturously at him, fire in her eyes. It so turned her on when he spoke in public. Things were going to get steamy after the speech.

"Power couples have long been a part of our thing. A man and woman, both in positions of power, leading together for better or worse. Through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, these lovers stood together, against the mafia world. But I ask you today, which couple was the greatest?

Many of you may only know of the current power couples, such as Spaceman and @AryaStark, Madeline and Jadus or Gavin and Bella Byrne. But if you look back through the history of our world, several couples came to be prominent. Roman and Kendra, DeadlySin and Bunny, among several others came to know great power alongside one another.

Do you think being in a relationship with the ones you're working with improves the trust and loyalty factor? Undoubtedly it does, but we've also seen power couples split, with catastrophic consequences.

Which couple do you think was the greatest of the power couples?

Hearing that a special vote had been called for by the Upper's, Nikolai boarded a private flight to New York.  A few hours later and weary from a flight followed by a long cab ride to Odin's HQ, he walked through the large doors and could hear his foot steps echo as he entered the grand hall.  All along the corridor were pictures of great hero's, both past and present.

Then he spotted a portrait that he found so alluring that he could not take his eyes from it.  For what seemed like an eternity within the Norse God's HQ's, he continued to ponder the question:  Is Aloisus's ample bosom real or fake?  He had heard legends of it's ability to charm the monster's of the Nine Realms, but he still was not sure.

Then he snapped out of his trance, finally breaking the charm that her portrait held over him and thought WHY AM I HERE AGAIN?

Well, of course, another fine example of a power couple is Nikita and Itachi_Uchiha. They seem to fit the bill.

Though it seems the most prolific of all current couples has been overlooked: Remy and JesusTheGangster... They really found love in a hopeless place, with passion not seen since ancient Roman times.

And finally, there's Joe Liggy Wiggy and Marie, but that's been a no brainer for a long time.

I think if we look back at what the history books tell about the recent fallen leaders Marie and Salvatore that they at some point were a power couple as well. Obviously were the power maintained equal, the strength of their relationship somewhat changed. Or at least, the priorities they had to each other were ruled out by their obligations to their cities. That's not a negative thing by the way. I think they serve as a perfect example of how this world works; it's not ever lasting. Looking back at that we might feel it's awkward what happened, but both parties played the part they felt was needed to protect their cities beyond anything else. That's a healthy attitude in my book.

Of course we have the reoccuring matchups of lines of TesleR and Grin. Now I wouldn't necessarily define them as a couple, but they've been spotted a few times together having quite the impact. I think that fits the topic. Hell, if we expand the topic like that there's many people who cling together. Some with greater results than others, but in my example I'm impressed by the impact they had.

Sure, if we look at what that impact was we might get disappointed. But the fact that some couples manage to pull of far-reaching things is worth the review. Whether good or bad; if people get to have that impact it says just as much about everyone else.

Tara smirked as she considered the subject, listening to the other responses before giving her own.

"As others have mentioned, I think that SalvatoreLuciano and MarieLucania belong in your list as well, illustrating both of your points. They climbed through the ranks together... but ultimately, one turned on the other with the catastrophic consequences you mentioned. I think close relationships are an advantage, whether they are romantic or extremely close friendships."

"However, I also think there's a danger here. If someone gets too focused on their own little world for two, other concerns can fall by the wayside. Business that they otherwise might do is ignored."

"For my part, I think that being a 'power couple' is a benefit as long as both members are working together in an outward direction, rather than simply navel gazing."

"Other than Helpdesk and Bob, I would consider the greatest power couple Marietta and Roman- no offense to my brother and sister-in-law. This is, undoubtedly, colored by the experience of my ancestors at the time- some of the names you mentioned are unknown to me, unfortunately."

"Thanks for the thought-provoking topic!"

It's always interesting to see these 'power couples' come out to play. She smiled as she started to remember. It's truly interesting to see as well, especially in this life we live because finding romance in this thing is not very... common... or at least talked about.

Which couple do you think was the greatest of the power couples?

To answer your second  though, I honestly wouldn't be able to really say who was the greatest power couple. i mean, each kind of had a different playing style. Plus I was only admiring from a distance so I'm afraid I can't really say much as I've never directly spoken with them. But I see these power couples. They're out there. Waves and says hi.

For the first question, it can be yes and no. Personally I lean more towards no, but that could also just be my bitterness talking from a bad experience. I'm not going to speak on it too much. It's kind of triggering. But anyways, I can definitely see how it can build trust and loyalty. Love is just so much better when it's reciprocated.
