The Grande Ballroom Started by: Billy_Mastrosimone on Dec 05, '18 23:26

Billy had never in his life been put in charge of a party like this. Normally when he threw a party it was simple. Gather friends, go to bar, drink, forget what happened and wake up at your own house, or someone else's.

This party was supposed to be different.

He was told there was going to be a lot of important people, important people who apparently had no names, or at least none that he was allowed to know. So here he was, standing in the middle of the Grande Ballroom, the swankiest place in all of Detroit, with a roll of bills in his pocket and orders to make nice of the place.

The place was already nice though. The tables in the dining room all had tablecloths on them, the nice white linen kind. The silverware in there was all polished by hand and handled only with gloves. Champagne had been chilling and ice buckets were sitting on every table waiting to be filled. He had tasted the food already. It was really good, not like home cooking, but for fancy food? It was good.

Upstairs was the dance hall. @Scarlett had given him enough money to rent out the whole building, and the band too for the whole night. The band was huge. 25 pieces and they could play everything from classic music, to big brass. They were gonna be perfect. They were not his idea. Pretty much anything that wasn't Billy's idea was gonna be perfect. Thankfully, he just had to make sure everything was set up, he didn't have to have ideas of his own.

As he walked around the place one last time he was finally able to take it all in. The red carpet on the ground floor, with the gold trim. The golden chandeliers above every table. Lots of little gold accents on the walls too. And the marble staircase going up to the dance hall was flecked with the same kind of red that the carpet had in it. That was a cool touch that Billy would have never thought of, but it made sense, if the colors looked the same, you didn't notice as much. When they were different, they stood out more.

He made his way to the lobby, to his favorite part of the whole place. There was a giant Christmas tree right in the middle of the lobby, all the lights were lit and the garland was hung. It looked real good. He always liked Christmas trees, but this one? He let out a low whistle as he made his way to the front door. This tree was special.

Happy with how the inside turned out, Billy nodded his head and went outside. He stepped forward to the curb and nodded to the two guys that were there.

"Christopher, Jimmy. I know it's cold out tonight, so I'm gonna have a couple of waiters bring you guys coffee every chance they get to keep yas warm." He pulled out two fifty dollar bills. "These are for you two. You don't ask for no tips tonight, you don't ask for no names. You just take the car and park it, and keep your mouth shut. I know youse guys is good guys, you won't let me down right?"

He got two hard nods in return from the guys he knew and then pointed at the car that was pulling up. "Looks like you've got work already, and that means I do too. I'll see you guys later."

And with that he ran back inside to make sure here was there to see whoever it was that was coming in.

As she put her new diamond earring in she yelled to @DeeSe7en, "wear the red tie it'll look better than whatever one you are putting on!" He wasn't one to want to dress up and she was pretty sure he hated the idea of a huge fancy party but because she loved them he sucked it up and went with it. She walked up to him and fixed his tie, brushed off the front of his coat and smiled, "this is going to be so amazing! I have complete faith in @Billy_Mastrosimone and it's a great opportunity for Detroit to come together and have a fun time getting to know anyone we don't yet."

Picking up her pocketbook she head to the car which had been waiting outside for them. It was a short drive to the venue so they could only get one joint in before arriving. "I'm so excited!" she said as she stepped out. It was true Billy hadn't let her down. The place was breathtakingly decorated and she hadn't even went inside yet.

Almost pulling Dee out the car she hurried to the door tipping the gentlemen standing there. "I'm not waiting for you." she said as she glanced back at Godfather-Chairman DeeSe7en who had stopped and lit a cigarette. He shrugged his shoulders and she walked in.

It was as amazing as she had dreamt it to be. It was no secret that she loved Christmas and decorations but this had her feeling like she had walked into a Christmas wonderland or maybe that was the weed...either way it was gorgeous.  The chandeliers, carpets and decorations were one thing but the tree standing tall in the middle of the room with all the lights, balls, and bows was mezmerizing. She was giddy with excitement as she found Billy waiting inside.

"You did a wonderful job! It's more than perfect." She said as she gave him a hug. "I absolutely love it. I'm assuming all the gifts i ordered for everyone are in the main hall and you have instructed the bartenders not to charge anyone and put it on my tab?...Speaking of bar" She wandered off to the closest one without waiting for an answer. She trusted him and knew it all was in place.

There seemed to be a delivery at my door with a message announcement of an an elegant Christmas celebration! I had just received my Christmas wear from Flexx's cleaners for any occasions that may arrive.. and here was one already. I laid out a sapphire blue eveing gown , shimering like the ocean, Perfection woould take time, of course. I didn't know who would all be there, but it would be a party all the same.

As I walked into the ballroom, I could see some real class. the silverware was even sparkling like it was brand new out of the package. There weren't a wole lot of people here yet, but I hoped there would be, as this was a getting to know you sort of thing too. I was met by some wait staff I guess, I really did not know the host , but a party is a party, right?  I ordered a glass of bubbly and they led me to a table, as there were not anyone I knew that had arrived yet, it did not matter where I was seated.

Boy, this was the kind of place you dreamed of going to as a child, as least I did as a girl. I remember hearing the stories my mother would tell me the next day of her adventures of places like these, dancing, and having  a good time. (of course never telling me of her drinking good times)

Billy knew what his job was tonight. So he flipped through his little book, nodded and made his way over to the table the Head waiter had sat the young woman in sapphire at.

"Excuse me, but you're Sapphire aren't you? I think your dress might have given it away. I'm Billy, I work for Beyond. I was hoping to meet a few new folks here, can I get you a drink?"

He put his arm out for her to take so he could escort her to the bar. He had little to no interaction with anyone from Detroit recently, but tonight was the night that was all about to change. One step at a time. One person at a time. He could make a name for himself like his pops had never managed to. And he was going to.

DeeSe7en looks at himself in the  and smirks at his crooked tie.   "God I am not built for this shit." After a few minute Scarlett is kind enough to help.  Arriving at the part D7 is dragged put of the car like a child. Thankfully he managed to restrain from kicking and screaming that went with it. Looking around he is very impressed with the amount of work that has been put in here. One thing D7 does look forward to is peoples faces when he gets on a roll with the fucked up humour of his.

Pulling a cigarette out he leans against a wall outside, getting his thoughts in order so he can enter and socialize like a good Chairman. D7 flicks his cigarette and walks to the door. D7 have one more thought before entering with a smile on his face.

    "Fuck, I forgot my weed."

DeeSe7en enters with a smile catching up to Scarlett and. greeting Billy and Sapphire

Samuru was putting the finishing touches on his appearance, a last minute check of his hair followed by a quick dab of aftershave and finally making sure his suit was looking sharp, everything was great and after a quick smile to himself in the mirror Samuru picked up his wallet and pack of cigars and hurried out the door.

Outside the air was cold and the night sky was beautifully lit by stars, Samuru took a moment to light up a cigar whilst taking in the winter scenery before hopping in his car.

"Ah Shit! I'm gonna be late again"

After a short speedy drive through dimly lit streets, Samuru pulled up outside a grand building all lit up and with a couple of guys he recognised stood out front, he took one last pull on his cigar and flicked it into the gutter.

"Alright Christopher.. Jimmy, they got you out here tonight?"

The men nodded and rubbed their hands together to keep off the cold before taking Samuru's car keys and the other opening the front door, As Samuru entered he was amazed at how magnificent the place looked, the red carpets and gold trims everywhere made it look special, Samuru had never been in such a posh looking place before and he started to feel a little nervous because he knew all the important people would be at an event like this.

He hadn't been in the room long when a smarty dressed gentleman came hurrying down the marble staircase and greeted him, offering him a glass of champagne the man then directed Samuru to his table and told him to relax and enjoy the evening.

"Thanks, here let me give you this.." but before Samuru could finish the man stopped him mid sentence and told him it was not necessary tonight whilst glancing over at a young chap who was stood with a few people Samuru could recognise from Detroit.

"Whos that guy then?" Samuru hadn't seen the chap before and the name hadn't rung any bells but if he was the one who put this together then Samuru was sure he was important or would be some day but the gentleman simply said it was Billy and he had taken care of everything tonight and with that the man hurried away and began greeting others who we're still arriving.

Billy had been talking to a few guests and making his way around the room before he found an empty seat next to someone who had the look of Detroit about them. He still didn't know everyone in this city, nor could he really, but he was determined to make Scarlett's party the night he learned of as many people as he possibly could. He even thought about inviting some of his friends from outside the city, but that seemed to be a bridge too far for him. He was still just a shakedown artist after all, nobody was going to like the kinds of friends he kept.

He grabbed a glass of something for himself and introduced himself. "I'm Billy, nice to meet you. You're from Detroit aren't you? I mean, you would have to be to have gotten an invitation." He smiled at his own wit and then took a drink of... yep, more champagne. He really should get to the bar, this bubbly shit had him belching way more than he should be. "I don't think we've met before, do ya mind if I sit? I can get us somethin ta eat if you want."
