Ultra-Luxe Docking Area, Philadelphia
Jack was in a large box truck, one that he had taken from the back of the Ultra-Luxe. The truck fired right up, and because the workers had seen Jack conversing with Charlie__Pavanno when he was inside the building on the gambling floor, not one worker had attempted to stop him from taking one of the delivery trucks that they use every day. Jack stopped before pulling out of the parking lot, realizing this was the first time that he had driven since he had moved to Philadelphia. He pulled out the map in the door, spreading it out on the passenger seat. Once he pulled out the address from his pocket, he located the warehouse that he was meant to head to, just over half an hour away. "Alright, now that I know where I'm headed, let's get this show on the road." Jack said to himself.
The East Side Warehouse, Philadelphia Jack pulled in the back of the warehouse, shutting off the engine as soon as he was backed up near one of the less frequented doors. The warehouse wasn't as busy as Jack had imagined it would be, but there were containers of booze all over. Jack opened the warehouse door, sneaking inside where he could see half a dozen men packing and unpacking bottles of whiskey into wooden crates. "We must be exporting here as well then? Unless they're doing it under our noses." Jack thought to himself. Jack picked up a couple of crates in the corner of the warehouse and slid himself out the same door that had let him into the warehouse. As he loaded the crates into the truck, he heard the click of a revolver by his ear. "Don't move." A man's voice said. Jack placed his hands in the air and then turned to look at the man who had him at gunpoint. "Listen, nobody needs to get hurt here." Jack explained, "You guys haven't been paying your dues." "Yeah, I heard about that. Didn't think there would be such a quick response. The boss inside, he thinks he owns everyone here. Last week, he beat this woman for showing up ten minutes late." "Where's this guy at? I can help you guys. But listen to me, I'm taking this booze. You guys aren't keeping your whole stash. Someone's gotta pay up." "He's inside the warehouse. Second floor. I tell you what. You take care of him, I'll let you go." "I take care of him, then you're coming with me. I'm not here to deal with your little office problems. I'm just here to help you guys from any retaliation from not paying up the chain." "I'll go with you. Follow me." Jack followed the man up to the second floor of the warehouse. They got a few looks as they passed the men and women working on the first floor, but everyone kept to themselves, or whispered low enough that no one was able to hear them speak. As they walked through the door of the office, the boss was sitting at his desk. "Who is this guy? You my new help?" He asked. "I'm your new contact in Ultra-Luxe. You're past due." Jack said. The boss jumped up from his seat, but Jack pulled his gun out of his shoulder holster underneath his suit jacket and aimed it at the man. "Hang on, no need to get out of hand." "You, tie him up. We're going to take him with us." Jack directed the man he had met earlier. They lead him down the stairs and then loaded him into the back of the truck. As they pulled out of the warehouse, Jack looked over to the man in the passenger seat. "The name's Jack Waltz. Thanks for your help back there." The man just nodded his head and they began their ride back to the heart of the city. As they pulled into the Ultra-Luxe, the dock area was much less populated with workers. Jack backed the truck up to the building, and once he turned off the truck, got ready to unlock the back. Things hadn't gone according to plan, but it would be time to see how Jack's ability to improvise would be evaluated. |
