Most people do the roll-your-answers, which shows you the nice little graphs that show the point distribution and it tells you what stats are what. It makes it easy to gear up your character and put the points where you want them without knowing the answers ahead of time.
If you pick RP answers, you are picking from a very old fashioned list of answers that is passed down by others via inside knowledge generation after generation. Picking RP answers gives you a tiny advantage since they can go 1 point higher than rolling them. (In the grand scheme of things its not a huge difference, but a neat little tiny advantage if someone passed you down the knowledge)
But because this is inside knowledge, its not discussed out in the open. Pretty much all of the good RP answers are documented and passed down, so if you ask your upper structure they can help you. However, since there are thousands upon thousands of different ones, people only keep the 'good answers', so its possible your existing answers didn't prove too good and were not written down.
