Vittorio sat in the stool at the speakeasy. He motioned Johnny- his regular bartender, to fill his glass up. “Keep em coming all night, alright?” Johnny simply nodded and proceeded to wait on the other members in the establishment. Vittorio was new to this life. The lifestyle was great. He had more cash in his wallet now, than in his lifetime. Hell, more cash than his parents and their parents could have ever gained. He was gaining respect and notoriety in the life. When he went to the grocery store, people offered to carry his groceries home. They always parked his car for him wherever he went. Wherever he was, he was taken care of. He loved the life. He dreamed of it since he was a kid. He was hearing hundred dollar suits like it was nothing. Always smoked the nicest cigars. Always drank the best. While most of America suffered, he was living the best life. He assumed his wife would be so happy for him and their family. Boy was he wrong. He was the hate, and disgust in her eyes. Every time he came home it was a fight. A fight he couldn’t win. Every time he’d get kicked out, and forced to go to the speakeasy in downtown Detroit. The local drunks were kinder to him than his own wife. He drank to get rid of the sorrow he endured. His wife was the love of his life. He loved her more than anything. Everything he did in this new lifestyle was for her. So he could take care of her. Provide for her, and get her the best in life. Everything she deserved. He was unable to do this when he worked at the local automobile plant. They barely surgicee, and barely had food on the table. He couldn’t refuses way out of poverty. He couldn’t refuse from going to a nobody, to a somebody. He thought his wife shared his sentiment. Instead of enjoying his success with her, he was forced to spend his nights alone in a bar, and at a hotel. Away from his wife, and smal Children. The look of sorrow was written all over his face. He clasped his drink, and didn’t let go. Thoughts rushed through his head, and all he could think about was how less of a man he was. How not even his wife could be proud of him. In a rush of anger, he threw his drink against the wall, and went to the back of the speakeasy to sit down. (First RP, sorry if it’s not the best, still learning :) ) |
