Itachi sat in his office dubbed the throne room, thinking on things he'd learned in the past few days. It would seem a business trip was in order. The ghost of his previous boss was very present in his current life it seemed. Even more so his children that he never knew about seemed to be ever growing figures of prominence in his life as well. Their names were constantly being thrown around his business dealings lately. To be frank Itachi didn't like to be so uninformed. He didn't care much about Charlie Pavanno's personal life at all but now it seemed to be interfering with is business. This was an inconvenience to him because instead of focusing on what he wanted to do in the future he'd have to go and investigate the past. On his desk was the sparse information that could be quickly gathered up by informants and spies in his network. He'd have to deploy the correct people on an operation like this if he wanted to truly be informed. He looked over the papers on his desk. Apparently Charlie had three kids, two in wed lock and one outside. That fool who dared come see him at his shipping docks informed him of this much. Once he had the names he quickly made sure envelopes full of money got handed to the right people in order for him to gain information. For a person in his position it wasn't necessarily about how strong one was that determined their power but rather their connections and how much information they had. Itachi like to make sure he had as much of both as possible. Sonny DiCaprio and Cassie Pavanno were the two legitimate children while this Mael who wanted to meet with himself and Nikita was the illegitimate child. He couldn't find any information here about the mother and there wasn't much to go on about the children either other than a picture of each one and some information about what they were into now and what it was that Charlie had left behind for each of them. Everything the man Benny had said Charlie left the legitimate kids, he truly did but still he wanted first hand accounts. He also wanted to know how they felt about this half brother of theirs and what they could tell him. Sure, he was still a fan of taking the direct approach with the meeting with Nikita to solve this problem, but the more these names came up the more he wanted, no, NEEDED to figure out about them. Itachi closed his eyes in disgust and frustration though if you didn't know him well enough you wouldn't know those were his feelings. Itachi went over his employee roster of associates to give this too. He was aware that Nikita's close associate, Jack Waltz, was working together with the young son who wanted to meet them. He was sure Nikita wouldn't take kindly to him interrogating one of her associates and someone who was working directly with their organization. He wanted to speak to the legitimate kids anyway, and he needed someone he could rely on to take on this task. Many names ran through his mind. Aimee, Denny, and a few of his own close associates. Katsumi could get it done, he was sure, but he needed her here just in case. Kagami was too hot headed and he was in charge of the construction company. He had a few new associates in his employ that he could use. He would need somebody stealthy and clever in their approach. Katsumi was skilled in the stealth department but her problem is she was very straight forward. She could adapt to combat situations but not her personality. There was a new person that he hired not too long ago. She showed promise. She was one who was already a former intelligence officer where she was from. She came to America on the run from her old country and Itachi took her in and provided her with a new identity and protection. It was time for her to prove to him she was worth his time and efforts. With this decision made in his mind, he went to the door to tell Katsumi to summon Natasha. She went followed the order with haste. In less than 20 minutes Natasha was walking through the door with Katsumi. Itachi waved Katsumi off indicating that he wanted to talk to Natasha alone. Itachi stared at the woman for a minute to see if he could unnerve her. To her credit, if she was feeling any kind of way she didn't show it. Satisfied, Itachi tapped on the two papers on his desk, indicating Charlie's two children. Natasha stepped closer and picked the papers up and gave them a thorough read. Once she was done she looked to Itachi and he could see the unasked question in her eyes. His response was simple. "Find them." He ordered before dismissing her as well. |

Natasha found herself doing research on her current assignment the slow and old fashioned way. Regrettably her employer didn't have much initial information to go off of. This meant she was pretty much starting from scratch. She figured the best thing to do was to look into the father. Thinking the kids might go where their father had been. With that plan in mind she headed out to Philadelphia to look into the late Charlie Pavanno. He had a long and hard life full of ups and downs. Asking around the local populace everyone had an opinion. She stayed away from higher ranking mobsters preferring to hear the stories and the tales of those who were on the streets and lower ranked. She didn't fear the higher ranks as she was operating under Itachi's name, but she didn't plan to ruffle any feathers and leave any smoking trails that her boss would have to later put out. Her extensive search put her in contact with one person who used to have close ties to Charlie Pavanno himself. He was tending to the grave one day when she was passing by visiting on a whim. At first she just observed him. She could tell that with the way that he cleaned the grave and with the amount of tenderness he displayed that the man meant something to him. Eventually she must've done something to alert the man to her presence as after awhile, he suddenly stopped cleaning and gave a light chuckle. She was only able to tell due to the way his shoulders moved. He didn't turn around and he actually went back to tending to the grave when he asked his question. "Are you planning on watching me all day there? If so I'm sorry but I don't have any seats I can offer you while you do." The man joked. Natasha quietly cursed herself for giving away her location. Now she'd have to deal with the man directly. "You seem to care greatly for that grave there." She said. It was an observation but hopefully also what she considered to be a conversation starter. "That's right. Here lies someone that was taken from us too young. He wouldn't think so or consider it himself, but he was a great man. Did you know him?" The man asked now looking at the woman with curiosity. Natasha mulled the question over for a few seconds. She knew she couldn't take too long to respond but also knew she shouldn't answer right away. She should play it off like she was a bit protective or hesitant but confident all the same. She was also figuring if she played this right she could use this to her advantage as well. "I did know him. More or less I was a friend of his children's mother. I met him a few times here and there, he seemed like a good man. It's the children that I'm concerned about. I went away to visit relatives in Italy and in the meantime their father was murdered. I only had a little bit of time before I headed back but I can't find them here at all." Natasha informed him in a voice filled with pretend concern. She could tell the man was hesitant but also buying into her act. He looked like he was trying to weigh his option so she decided to press her advantage. "You wouldn't happen to have any information on where they went would you sir?" She asked. The man looked even more hesitant than before, trying to look everywhere else but her eyes, as he came up with some kind of polite excuse. She decided to press even further, closing the distance between them and gently grabbing his arm. She put a desperate look on her face. "Please sir, I'm begging you. I haven't seen them in quite sometime I just want to make sure they're alright." She pleaded. The man had reached his breaking point and looked like he was unable to hold out on this lady any longer. He gave a deep sigh knowing the he shouldn't do what he was about to do, and if he really knew what was going on he would look back and curse this day. "Fine." He relented. "You just missed them, the last I heard the kids are in Italy. They should be well off financially, Charlie left the estates and deeds to the businesses to his two kids. Left his third squat but a journal or something. The third moved out west while the other kids have left the country. I believe you can find them all out there miss." Natasha put on a grateful look and feigned excitement. "Oh thank you Mister! I can't tell you how much this means to me." She said with fake elation. The man gradually let a smile spread across his face as he was coming to terms with what he did exactly. "I'm just glad I could help miss." He replied. Natasha finished up thanking the man a lot more times than was necessary but she wanted to truly put the man's mind at ease. Once she was sure she sold how "grateful" she was for the information she left the man. It was a courtesy that she left him alive, but because she didn't have to give her name or an alias and due to the cold weather in Philadelphia at the time, the man didn't see or know anything that would be traced back to her or her employer she figured there was no need to kill him. What she did have now was good information. Itachi had wanted her to investigate Mael by finding out about his brother and sister and seeing what they knew about the guy and now that she had a location on the other two siblings. She was now ready to head to Italy to see what they knew. |
