The Captain makes his way out of his shiny new Headquarters, and on to the Streets, in his brand new suit. He feels different as he makes his way to his favorite corner to bring his speeches to the masses. This time however he feels different, for its finally hit him that he has his own crew now. People who look to him to guide them and protect them. He walks a little cockier, and with a wider grin on his face, finally stopping at his corner and speaking louder, and with more confidence than ever before. Once again, The Captain would just like to thank everybody that made this possible. Its truly a great day in his life. He didn't expect to be promoted to Capo today, let alone become a CL. The Captain hopes that today is a day that will go down in history as the day The Captain "got his start". Because finally, its The Captain's time to shine, and he plans...oh how he plans on shining. Its only fitting that he gets his auth in Las Vegas, as his first boss was based in LV. It isn't the city he grew up in, but its the city his life of crime, fast livin', and lovin' the ladies began. The Captain's loved this city since he first came here, and he will continue to until the day he dies. As you might know, The Captain isn't the only person set up in Vegas. He will be working along side BruceCarrol, and together we will not only keep Vegas the great city that it is, we will take it to new heights. Now that The Captain's gotten that out of the way, he'll now take the time to tell you all a bit about his little crew. The name of this crew, as it isn't anywhere near Family status yet, is New Blood Rising. The reason The Captain picked this name is for a few reasons. One being that, compared to the other leaders, The Captain is relatively young, hence, he could be considered "New Blood" to some of the older members of the community. However, the main reason that The Captain decided upon the name, is that he's going to be doing things a little differently. He feels that the old ways of doing things, are outdated and its time for a bit of a change. We can't hold on to the old ways forever. eventually there has to be a change, and The Captain plans on making it a change for the better. This doesn't mean that The Captain is spitting on the old ways. They got us this far, so they obviously have some validity to them. The base rules of having respect and following Omerta, as cliche as this sounds every time its said, should always be recognized. But a new system needs to be built around the old rules, and The Captain intends on doing just that. Its time to breakaway from moving in a straight line, and time to move onward and upwards. The Captain says, as he points to the sky Anyway, The Captain doesn't want to keep rambling on, so he's gonna cut it short now, as this speech is already coming far too late, but The Captain's been busy setting up other aspects of his new crew. The Captain kisses the tip of his right pointer finger, and points to the crowd, and walks to his back to his HQ, to once again get back to the work that awaits him. |

It sounds to me like you're running for President; using metaphors to describe your agenda, without actually saying anything. A great leader should have a clear, articulate agenda set out for his time in power. If you would clarify what you mean by this, the people of the six cities might have a better idea of your goals as a Boss. Which of the old rules, specifically, do you wish to revise? What is this "straight line" you are talking about, and how will it benefit us to break away from it? And finally, are you planning on breaking into the aeronautics industry? I don't mean to bust your balls here. Quite the contrary, your speech is better than most I've seen lately. It is because I believe you are capable of meeting the challenge I'm putting before you that I question your intentions. Put some thought into exactly how you plan to transform La Cosa Nostra, and what specific preliminary actions you plan to take, then explain it to the crowd in detail. This simple action would be the first step towards becoming a great leader. Empty rhetoric will be quickly forgotten. |

TheWeasal, please tell me what's wrong with a leader using spin and propaganda in an attempt to sway the masses; if it was good enough for Caesar, Jesus and Lincoln, surely it's good enough for us? Congratulations on your auth TheCaptain, I don't doubt you can bring something new to the table. |

Well, congrats to you! It sounds to me that you have a lot of ambition, I can't wait to see what you have in store. I'm a bit concerned, however, I listened to your entire speech and as well spoken as you are, I am a bit lost from your speech, I got that there will be some changes...I new structure if you will, based on the old unspoken (or frequently spoken) rules of the old. I would, like to hear more about this new system you speak of, you said it a few times but never talked about it. Can you give us the particular? ~Tony |

The sky is the limit my friend. I must admit my fear that may continue as is, but I believe you, sir, are capable of great things; leading our community to improvement. At the very least, I am confident that you will prove your worth to these leaders, but more importantly, to yourself. Well, Mr Toreno, first why don't you point out where I said there was something wrong with using spin and propoganda? I didn't actually say such a thing, but just to appease you, I will offer an argument as to why there is something wrong with using it in this context. First of all, The Captain WASN'T using spin or propaganda. This isn't an appeal to the masses, or an attempt to sway anyone. This is an introductory speech, which is meant to be a mission statement of sorts. It should have informative content, not persuasive content. Save the persuasive speeches for when you want to justify certain actions or propose a new policy. Even in those situations, using propaganda is useful only to gain the support of the weak-minded or gullible. Granted, there are plenty of those around, but a great leader will appeal to wise men as well as sheep. To appeal to wise men, you must use logic and reason structured into an easy to follow argument. If done effectively, the speaker will gain the support of the wise by presenting facts and applying them to a reasonable policy or action. I offered The Captain an opportunity to rise above the mediocre by offering a clear mission statement rather than empty rhetoric. I did this because I felt he could meet that challenge. If I thought he was just another tard wandering the streets, I would have ignored his speech altogether. It is his prerogative if he chooses not to articulate his intentions. I won't hold it against him, because it is rare that anyone actually does offer a clear statement. |

The Captain understands you aren't busting my balls Mr. Weasel. I thank you for actually bringing that up, because I realize I wasn't exactly clear in explaining myself. This is because I don't know exactly what I want to do yet, I just know I want to go in a different direction. I was taken completely by surprise with this authing, so I haven't had the time I need to clearly form a "mission statement" as of yet. I just wanted to introduce myself briefly to the masses, so they get some kind of idea of what I'm about. The Captain'll explain briefly what I mean by some of the things I've said, and I assure you when I grasp a better idea of what I need to do, I will be making another speech about it, because I want the community, as a whole, to know of my plans, because in this position, my decisions affect the entire community. Let me clear up what I said a bit, about building around the old rules. I suppose "rules" probably is the wrong term to use, I should have said "traditions" as that's a bit more accurate. What I mean is, this community is based on the respect, or disrespect we have for others. This is how the "bad seeds" are weeded out. You show respect, you get respect and you have a much better chance of making it in this life. You act disrespectful you, more often than not, die because clearly you don't understand how things work around here. I think that's a great system, that's worked for as long as this things of ours has been around, and will continue to work. Omerta has also worked, and even though that's pretty cliche, its also a good business practice. If one wants to prosper, obviously they shouldn't shouldn't be letting things slip. If you can't be trusted to keep information secret, you have no business being in this life. That being said, obviously The Captain won't be revealing every little thing he does, to the community. That wouldn't be very beneficial to him, and he doesn't want to bother everybody, every time he decides to do something. The Captain just feels that sometimes, people following the old traditions too literally. They worked in the old country, but we aren't in the old country anymore, we're in America, and just as our location has changed, so should our actions. We worry too much about what the Bosses in the Old Country think of in The Captain's opinion. Hell, they would be displeased that we're selling drugs, but we moved on there. We knew that a way to make a bigger profit was needed, so we went to drugs. The Captain means that we must continue to make decisions like that. As time moves on, so must our way of thinking. Now, onto what The Captain meant by the straight line. Through hard work, this world of ours has changed and slowly, but surely, became the place it is today. However, in The Captain's opinion, we've had no real progress for a long time now. We've gotten to where we are now, and we just seem to stay stagnant. No new ideas, no moving upwards, just going on how we've always done. This isn't criticism directed at anybody, as The Captain is just the same. It never bothered him before as he was just a follower, but now that he's a leader he wants to make a change in this world. What change, The Captain doesn't know yet, but he wants to do something different. Perhaps going into the aeronautics industry, would be that change. The Captain says with a wink and a grin. The Captain hopes this answers your questions, if it doesn't, feel free to point out anything else to ask about, he accepts, and appreciates the criticism from you, Mr. Weasel, and anybody else. |
