Detroit, the 1930's. The Ligambi crime family was already well known for it's activity in the national sports betting rackets. The Ligambi's covered anything and everything that had action. The family had numerous bookmakers and were always on call to take odds on anything at any given time. The wire room was located in the basement of Uncle Joe's pork store, Salumeria Biellese.

It was a gathering place for bettors, numbers runners and the family's numerous bookies.

The Ligambi crime family's bookies were easy to locate on the streets. They all made it known what they were involved in. Placing your bets was as easy as finding a member. The family offered many different styles of bets and even loaned money to those who wished to bet. It was a full service experience.

Billy had been itching for something different. Everyone who knew him also knew that he frequented the casinos and dice halls around the country. But the Ligambi's had started to reemerge as the premier bookies of the day for sports.

As much as Billy had tried to steer away from sports betting since that Black Sox incident, he couldn't help himself. He made his way up to one of the Ligambi men on the streets and pulled out two envelopes.

"I'm Billy, I work for Lust over on 12th Street. These are mine, one for the moneyline on the saints and the other for the moneyline on the pats." He looked the man dead in the eye before watching him write something in a notepad and then take the two envelopes. He stood there, watching the surroundings as the man counted and wrote down the sums. While he watched, he noticed at least four others doing the same thing. It made sense that the Ligambi's would spend some muscle to protect their business interests. He though four was good, but he probably only noticed that many. There were surely others around.

After a moment Ligambi's bookie nodded.

"Alright Billy, I've got you down. Keep an eye on the games and we will find you for what we owe you. Best of luck."

Billy got the impression right away that he was supposed to walk away then. And so he did.

Now he had to find his friends sTony and Beowulf. He knew they liked to gamble too, just wasn't sure if they enjoyed sports. Come to think of it, Tammy might be interested too. He had a few friends to visit.

Rebecca smiled as she watched the action in the streets from an office window a few floors up from the ground.  Her husband was creating a betting empire and she was so proud of him.

Turning from the window she went back to the table where several of her associates worked on various advertisement posters for some upcoming poker tournaments she would be hosting.  Joe had asked her to run some tournaments as part of the betting rack and she was happy to do so.  She loved poker, and was not half bad at it herself.  In particular she wanted to run some very high stakes games.  Not everybody had that kind of cash these days, but if they wanted in Rebecca knew of some people they would be able to borrow money from.  She grinned and got back to work.

Itachi entered the betting parlor with a Kagami this time instead of his usual head bodyguard. The reason for this is his leader didn't love it too much whenever he got to gambling. Itachi wasn't a particularly good gambler but when he got into it he tended to really get hooked. He tried to avoid it as much as possible but sometimes he found himself being drawn to it and there was just no stopping it. Today was one of those days. The only reasonable solution to this problem was to bring someone  who was worse at gambling than he was.

Kagami looked around the parlor in awe and amazement. Itachi was quite impressed with the set up and organization as well. He could tell that his companion for this trip was barely holding in his excitement, and even then was doing a pretty bad job of it. He quietly snorted in amusement at it as he approached a table where he could fill out his sheet with bets on it. He kept his private and to himself. Kagami on the other hand was pretty much shouting as he wrote on his slip what and who he was betting on.

Itachi shook his head at the antics but it provided him cover. Unlike most other places he didn't wanna draw too much attention himself on this outing. He finished up filling out his bets for the events he wanted to bet on for the upcoming week. Once he finished turning it in he saw Kagami still trying to finish up. Itachi cleared his throat behind Kagami and he immediately stopped his shouting and composed himself. He then finished filling out his slip and turned it in as well.

"Sorry boss. We ready to go?" The muscly man asked.

Itachi gave a nod. He then turned to the man behind the counter and said.

"Give Don Ligambi my best regards."

He then turned and saw his guard holding the door open for him. Itachi quickly exited and ducked inside of his car, leaving as quietly and as swiftly as he had entered. He was sure he would be back to such a wonderful place many times in the near future.
