Remove/change daily hustle Started by: Toothpick on Jan 28, '19 07:14
This is going to upset some but meh

To solve this abuse of chat and thread responses to compelte hustle, just remove the whole system, you can alwayscban and remkve postscthreads etc. A total fix would be t8 remove it.

Or change it to weekly hustle

We dont need it, is nice perk end of the day, we lived with out it for over decade nearly 2 removing it be forgotton quickly

But really, how hard it is to write more than 1 word in chat if thats nedded in daily hustle, just wonder.

Report Post Tip
Seems to be very hard on a daily basis. We are getting dumber not smarter soon outside forumcbe in txt lingo

I like the hustle system. What I don't like is being forced to post in Outside threads. Just turns that whole place into a spam session. I honestly think the only thing that needs to be removed from the hustle system is that particular one.

Posting in family chat is easy enough and gives people a reason to use it to talk. Since this has been implemented I have noticed more and more people actually talking in that chat. is there still spam... sometimes but most of the leaders are quick to jump on them about it and get it fixed.

It is extremely hard for a CL to watch the outside forums for people spamming. They can make rules about it but not everyone is a writer nor do they actually understand how to write a post that is not spam. If the thread asks a question they answer it and think that is not spam. and to a point they are right but they are not understanding what it is admins are asking for when it comes to effort within a post.

I know its there too so that people don't have to roleplay that don't roleplay normally. But it may be better to make a business district thing. Yes, it forces people to RP but it is not hard to a short RP post that is not spam and will teach those that don't know how.

Or we just get rid of the posting hustle all together.

Yes Sal exactly remove that post part replace with somthing else. I do belive whole thing needs to be edited. I dont have a issue with posting. My concern is we may lose some player base if continue to ban. Some wont care its a niche game more players better it is for all

I 99% like the Daily Hustle. I feel it's brought more positive to the game than negative and the points come in handy. I know I've become a little more active since it came into play, a daily challenge that makes you want to log on daily to do is nice. It's nothing huge, nothing impossible.

Yes, we lived over a decade without it but we lived without OCs for years too, do you want to get rid of them? How about Durdens, we lived without those for a decade too, should we get rid of them? I remember a time before mugging and Durden Raids, should they go as well?

The one thing I do dislike about it is the forced posting. Yes, it is in the Outside forum where anything goes, but it's still forced and you aren't going to get quality posts for it. You'll get the short posts that get you jailed. Remove the forced posting and I'd be 100% for it.

OC's. Yep.

Durdens. Yep.

Mugging? 100% Yep.

I would go one step further and just remove credits from the game or at least the big advantages having large amounts of credits can hand people. If this causes moneytary of issues then charge people to play the game yearly and let the most skilled players get to the top and not, in some cases, the people with the most disposable cash.

You could always make the daily hustle harder to achieve but make it a reward of game skill to give you what credits currently give you. Saving hustle points opens up timers and the like instead of stats boosts.

If there are more events then people will have a higher level of participation if they know the rewards will give them the perks they know they can just buy.

It might be easier to just remove or adjust the elements of it that are leading to abuse?

Or you know what would be even better, start punishing people until it sinks in that abusing a system will result in death?

Much more fun to just solve everything with an over the top knee jerk though, right?

Royksopp, you want quality posts, reward quality posts. but the outside forum is pretty much just to keep junk from the street and OOC forums. Posts in there being "quality" is debatable to begin with, so why is that forum the required forum for hustle?

Bottom line to me, The posting requirement for the hustle is a bad idea. whatever the minimum requirement so that people are not jailed and get the points is what most people will put it. You can't force forum use without it drastically dropping the quality of the forum.

I would rather that, regardless of forum, you get 5 good posts then 100 minimum-effort-just-enough-to-stay-out-of-jail posts. remove the forum posting requirement for the hustle, and you fix the issue

Hence this thread wasent stating remove hustle it was an idea, to be honest best approach is to remove posting for justle replace witj somthimg else this no more isxue

With a balance of: Hustle Point Balance: 1002 i would say no to the remove!!! Also, having members post in the outside thread is aarrgghhhh frustrating because "i never know what to write". However, it doesn't take much to write a complete sentence.

I'd agree with removing credits from the game if one of you lovely people is gonna pay all of the site maintenance, else how's the site gonna keep going?

As for the hustle spam, there's plenty of people that have achieved their hustle without spamming. Do we all really care about what we post in the Outside forum for our daily hustle? No, most of us don't really. But it only takes a bit of effort to get involved in one of the threads with a proper post and it's quite nice to read some peoples opinions on random stuff IMO.

Considering the Hustle points are advantageous to your character, I wish the posts had to be RP but that's not really an option as that really would cause problems with spam and OOC posts, etc. So I think keeping it to Outside forum posts is probably the best we can ask for.

Report Post Tip
BobRoss I very clearly explained how to pay for everything. Subscription to play. Best skills win.

Let's be very honest. Without credits, someone with access to credits or money to purchase more you cannot keep pace with the top end of the game. It is very very difficult. Not impossible I admit but far from level.
Report Post Tip

RichardSharpe - How much subscription would you propose is suitable to keep everything paid for and still be affordable for every player?  The game currently has 584 "active" users, the number actually being far smaller than that as I'm sure you would agree. How many of these (active) users do you think would subscribe and pay a monthly fee to play? And how much do you think would need to be charged to match how much is currently spent on credits? Some spend thousands on credits, you'd need a substantial subscription fee to match the money made from credit sales, I fear.

I'm confident this game would lose its community and eventually die if it was to become subscription-only. I am someone who is subscribed to quite a few games, I have no issue whatsoever paying a subscription, it's the best way for most games, but it has to be a realistic enough figure to yield as much profit as credits do and affordable enough for all (or most) players. I don't think the two figures are closely matched.

Report Post Tip
BobRoss - Without seeing what the game earns, what it's running costs are and what is needed it a hard question to answer. As you are obviously aware

Of the 584 how many have been lost from the days of old? Where credits have dulled the skills?

If there was a guaranteed pot of money for the year could the advertising be better, coders added more reliably and the game progressed on a stable budget? To do so, and I think rightly so, you pay a 12 month subscription fee regardless of play time.

At a rough stab in the dark. If you could maintain 600 players @ $75 each for the year that would give a working budget of $45000 for the first year to then look to grow the business by 10% year on year..?
Report Post Tip

RichardSharpe - The reason I didn't respond to your suggeston of subscriptions in the first place is because my aim was not to hijack Toothpick's thread, but rather address the suggestion he'd put forward regarding the removal or changing of Hustle Points. I really don't think the memberbase is large enough to have the site costs paid for by subscriptions but as you said, without access to the figures it's a pretty moot argument. It's also a debate I don't think we should continue to have on someone elses suggestion thread.

Apologies Toothpick, I'll let your thread get back on topic.
