| Rogue Not for me... | Started by: SuperSao on Jan 29, '08 22:17 |

SuperSao lights a cigarette as he exits the HQ on State Street. He looks around before heading to the corner. People try to say hi, but he is so concentrated on what he has on his mind to respond; he merely looks up and nods. As he reaches the street corner, he steps on the soap box and clears his throat to get the attention of the passing Mafiosi. Excuse me ladies and gentlemen. Due to the recent events today there has been one thing sticking out in my mind. It is the topic of "rogue." Many people make the same statement after a rogue situation is over with...it always has to do with "whether the reason was good or bad," but is there ever really a good reason to go rogue? Wacktard went to avenge his lovely lady's death, and Algernon did to save his family from being killed. Would anyone consider these reasons to be "good?" There are many different reasons people go rogue...boredom, leaving the game...but there are other ways of curing both of these issues and not having to die for them, well at least the boredom one. So my main reason for being up here is to ask you one thing. Do you think there ever is a good reason for going rogue? SuperSao steps down to allow any one else express their opinion. |

As I stated many times, I'm perfectly legit. Not even sure why I'm around this part of town, so late anyhow. Good reasons? Hell beats the shit out of me. It's case to case really, just like another else, it's not so black and white. There arent any bad guys and good guys. We need to stop kidding ourselves with the shining knight garbage. Back on track, people are going to do, what their going to do. The fact really is, how do we respond to their actions? Do we keep our cool, Do we sput shit, or do we mind our own business, yet remain vigilant of our assets? |

You've gotta fight, for your right, to PAAAAAAARTY < .< >.> Anyhoo.... If a leader dies I believe there is no point in going rogue and claiming that you are doing it to give ex members a roof over thier heads, because you are probabally putting them in more danger than they would be Un Sponsored. |

| Those were my thoughts exactly Intervention. Rather than protecting the family of the fallen you are putting them in more danger by setting up as a rogue. | |

Thank goodness for rogues, honestly. Let's face it. This world has become lethargic. Day in, day out, we move around earning, earning, EARNING more and more cash for someone that hardly notices, if at all. Meanwhile we see old pals, old cliques, old names, and old organizations being recognized, being given responsibilities, being given respect, all the while hardworking individuals are passed over due to the fact they're "inexperienced". Don't we all start somewhere? At least rogues are attempting to break this monotony. How many times do I have to see Crewleader A come out to introduce Crewleader B and it go a little something like this....? Crewleader A: "Today I'd like to introduce Crewleader B to our world. I know he can handle this and make our world great (This of course is Crewleader B's bloodlines 5th crew)." Crewleader B: "Thank you. I can't wait to begin. I will make my city great and introduce great, unheard of, enjoyable things to my city...yada, yada." Pleb A: "Congrats. You deserve this. I can't wait to earn all day, everyday for you." Crewleader B: "Very good. I can see you respect my authority. You will make a wonderful minion." Pleb B: "This is ridiculous. Crewleader B hasn't done anything to deserve this other than be a part of some old bloodline!" Pleb C: "Quit crying!" Pleb D: "Quit whining!" Pleb E: "Oh, the disrespect!" Crewleader A: "We don't want this kind of disagreeing in our world. Afterall, what we say is golden. We are crewleaders. You are plebs. Know your role!" Pleb B: "I'm just stating an opinion." Crewleader A: "I have killed Pleb B for his disrespect. Proceed." Crewleader B: "Oh, right. Yes, I will be great. I will make changes. I will...do stuff." 3 weeks later Pleb C: "Where is Crewleader B?" Pleb A: "I dunno. He never comes out on the streets." Pleb D: "Yes, he hasn't done anything he said he'd do." Pleb B's offspring: "I tried telling you. Nobody listens." Pleb E: "Quit whining. Shut up and do something about it if you don't like it." Pleb B's offspring: "Ok. I'm going rogue." 10 minutes later Pleb A: "Ummm, Crewleader B is dead." Pleb B's offspring: "I shot him." Pleb E: "Oh, the lack of respect!" Pleb D: "Yes, the horror! He did nothing, but he should've been allowed to live forever." Crewleader A: "Never fear folks. I have another friend from the coffeeshops. Follow him and make him rich!" And so the cycle continues... Without rogues this place would be dead. We'd all be forced to deal with the reality that we're all cashcows. "I'd like to auth you, you've put in so much work, but, I can't" (translation: You have too good a gun...I'd lose members and money if you left...I'm afraid of what you might do to me) only goes so far these days. That...is the truth. So, rogues, continue on. While I hate losing friends to your ways, I love seeing worthless, self-serving leaders fall. At least you spice this place up a bit, while I sit earning my Boss's eWife money for bodyguards. Proceed and thank you. |

Tish walks over laughing Michael_Toreno, do you want to sit on the fence any more? haha I beleive that there is a point to going rogue. Its very easy to sit here with our sanity heads on and say 'oh no, I would never, doesnt make any sense to me. they're all idiots!' BUT, Say for instance that you have worked our entire life with one leader. Over this time you have come to know them and they have got to know a little about you. Now you begin to rank up a bit, you develope your firearm a little. No other leader has even spoken to you becuase you keep yourself to yourself and serve your family. Then out of the blue, your leader is shot and nobody explains to you why for hours to come. You have two options. 1) Ignore every bit of work and effort you have made for your former leader, take a deep breath and find another family to belong. Working your way up from the bottom yet again. OR 2) You the small amount of persoanl savings you have to buy your own HQ. Its new and interesting, youve never owned a HQ before in your bloodline and its a intreaging! You hear some rumours about why your leader died and they hurt. So, you have a few shots while your on the run. It may just be me, but i can see the reasons why people go rogue. Im not encouraging it mind, but its not the enourmas waste of life its made out to be |

Not to mention, Tish, that most people aren't given the opportunity to find a new home. "Sorry, you're a Capo. I'm afraid you might want to take revenge on me after another rank or two, so if I invite you into my crew, I'll have to HQ you. If you don't accept the invite, I'm afraid I just have to kill you." So, yes, most folks that go rogue don't really have options. A waste? Of course not. You're standing up for something. This is something the majority are too afraid to do around here. |

Fisk nods and speaks up in realisation "In all honestly, I've never heard people really complain about rogues. They seem to happen, and every crew leader I've known has delt with it without even saying 'here we go again' So I figure people understand these things happen, and are obivously prepared to deal with them, so where is the problem?" "Ok, so we loose a crew leader or two everytime it breaks out, but isn't that what life is about? Cutting out the weak to make way for the strong? Are the crews today not stronger than the weeks behind us, or am I completley out on a limb on this one?" |
