A cold gust of wind blew through the street, making Rayne tighten her coat around her body. It didn't do much in regards to warming her up but it did help cut off some of the wind reaching her body. This whole not having a car thing was starting to get old, having to walk just about everywhere was miserable, especially during this time of the year. There was a bit of a problem though, well maybe a couple problems. For one she didn't have the money to buy a car and secondly she lacked the drivers license. She looked over towards Billy and was about to comment something about a car, that was until she noticed him holding his side. The side he had just injured, which seemed to still be bothering him quite a bit. From what she knew of Billy, he was quite the tough guy. Able to withstand a lot of pain and in turn issue a lot of pain out to others. He was one the kind of guy, to hide over cover up his pain the best he could. Didn't want to show any sort of weakness. Though she could tell, his side was bothering him. He wouldn't remove his hand from off his side and had a sort of sluggish walk. Almost instantly she felt bad bringing him along with her. Taking a couple big steps to get in front of him Rayne turned her body so she was facing him, stopping in her tracks. Which made him stop in his. "Let me take a look at that." Billy removed his hand off his side and buttoned up his coat. "I'm fine, I'll be fine. Let's keep walk...." Before he was able to finish speaking Rayne raised her left hand off her side and gave his side a gentle poke. He tried to hold back the pain but the look on his face spoke for him. "Just let me look at it, I'm not moving another step until you let me see it." Rayne folded her arms together, giving him a rather nasty look. Now if he wanted he could easily have picked her up and moved her out of the way but he wasn't that type of guy, at least she didn't think so. Without saying another word he opened up his coat, the shirt underneath was blood soaked. It didn't look wet but it was a lot of blood. "Billy! What the hell?" She gave him a look in the eyes then back down that the wound. "You really need to get this looked at. There's no way with that much blood on your shirt, you're ok. Seriously, you shouldn't be here with me at the moment. We should probably get you to a doctor." |

Billy shook his head and closed up his coat. "I said I'm fine, it's just not healed yet. It'll be fine. What's important is making sure you're not alone in this. I wasn't alone at the kennels, and this still happened." He gestured to his wound again and then forward. "Besides, it's real cold, and if I have to walk all the way to a doctor, I might have to worry about being frozen instead of bleeding to death. Can we just get inside?" He waited for Rayne to reluctantly turn around and start heading toward the warehouse again before he took off his coat completely and put it around her. The wind was bitter cold, and she was shivering. He was sweating bullets. Probably from the pain, but the cold wind would help numb whatever parts of him were hurting, so it was a win-win in his book. "Now, what's the story? Are we going as inspectors, or to buy up some space to keep stuff in? Or were you planning on just going in and sneaking around for a look?" He looked down at his shirt. "Probably better if I just sneak around so they don't ask questions huh?" |

Rayne said nothing, just shook her head and turned around. She wasn’t going to win this battle, as he was already set on his mission. Would just be a waste of more time standing there going back and fourth with it. Taking a deep breath the cold air coursed theough her lungs, sending a shiver throughout her body. A shiver that caught the attention of Billy, who quickly took his coat off, wrapping it around her. She was about to tell him not to and that he needed it but before she was able to get anything out of her mouth he started talking about the storage facility. He asked a multitude of questions, now of which she had the answers to. This was the first time she had ever been down 6th street, hell she didn’t even know this place existed until she saw it on the sheet of paper Bella laid out in the sewing factory lofts. Seeing Billys eyes glance down at his blood soaked shirt, Rayne gazed down at the wounded area again. “Well yeah, we can’t go walking in the front gate with you looking like that. I mean if you had your coat on and was able to keep it covered then that would be an option. Here take it back.” She started shuffling the coat off her shoulders but was quickly halted as Billy slid it back up onto her. “Absolutely not, keep that on you need it more then me.” Rayne let out a sigh, once again she knew this wasn’t a battle she was going to win. “I guess we could sneak in, there has to be an opening in the fence somewhere or at least a spot to climb over. What do you think?” |

Billy nodded. "And if there isn't we can find a hardware store and grab a pair of clippers to keep in my coat so we can make a hole." He kept pace with Rayne, he certainly didn't know the way to go, but at least he was determined not to fall behind. His head was on a swivel and he was just a tiny bit jumpier than he otherwise might have been. A bullet would do that to you. "So just recon then. How many men, locations, patrols. Do we want to see if there's anything specific in this warehouse that we should be aware of? Maybe it's where they store their booze, but then again they had to get something to set the pier ablaze like it was right? So maybe they keep explosives or firepower here. That would be good to know too." It wasn't until he stopped talking that he realized how closely he was walking with Rayne. He took a small step away. He didn't want to be in her personal space. It was weird he hadn't noticed it before then. He really needed to pay more attention. He needed his wits about him now more than he had ever before. He stopped at a corner and looked up and down the street. "There's a hardware store right there if you want me to run and grab a wire clipper." |

Rayne made her way to the right most outside corner of the storage facilities property, the entire place was fenced off and from the looking at the place straight on the only way in was through the front gate. The storage facility itself was placed within a wooded area, every side but the front was not the most easily accessible. There was what looked like a walking path that ran along the fence and woods, wasn't something that was meant to be there but more so made from constant use. Was probably a path made by local kids, a way for them to get into the woods. They had yet to explore the fence line, so there could have been another way in but that may have been wishful thinking on her part. That's when Billy spoke up, asking what they really had to do. She listened and waited for him to finish before speaking up. "Yeah just recon, would like to see what is going on here. I have nothing to go off of here, all I have heard is that there activity at this joint at all hours of the day. That's all I know, so I'd assume we go at this as careful as possible. We could be potentially walking into a hornets nest without even knowing." Billy nodded then took a small step away from her, she was a bit puzzled by this move. Maybe he heard something? Maybe he saw something? Rayne perked up and looked in the direction he was looking at. It was a hardware store, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to grab a pair of wire clippers. If not for use on the fence but potentially on a lock or two once they were on the facility grounds. "You know what, clippers would probably be a good idea. We might need them for the fence, maybe. Though I can almost guarantee we will need them to pop a lock or two opened once we get inside." Rayne rolled up her sleeve exposing a sleek but non impressive wrist watch. The sun had just set, so she knew it was getting later in the day. "Is that place even open right now?" |

Billy shrugged. "If it is, we buy two pairs of wire clippers. If it's not, we got two pairs of free wire clippers. Wait here." He made his way over to the hardware store. It was not open. He lifted his foot, and kicked. For a hardware store, they sure didn't do a good job of installing a deadbolt. He strolled inside and grabbed two wire cutters from off the wall. He looked around and didn't see anything else he wanted or thought would be useful, so he made his way back to the front. He slipped a hundred out of his pocket and tucked it under the register, closing the door behind him before making his way back to Rayne. "Left the guy a sorry note." He smiled and gave one set of clippers to Rayne. "Let's go then. Time to learn some shit about these piss ants that took down the pier." He clipped a straight line up the fence and then pulled it out of the way for Rayne to go inside. He slipped in behind her and replaced the fence back the way it was. It looked like nothing had happened. Perfect. There was a decent amount of open space between the fence and the buildings, and that was worrisome, but Billy managed to spot a dumpster and stayed low on his way over there. "So, I see the windows on the second floor, but I don't see any doors or anything down here. How do we get inside?" |

Rayne followed Billy through the fence and over to the dumpster, which stunk to high hell. It wasn't the normal trash smell, it smelled very chemically. She hadn't even looked at the building yet, she couldn't get over the immense smell right in front of her and no it wasn't from Billy. It was clearly coming from the dumpster but what was it? Whatever it was Billy must have not smelled it as he was peeking around the side glancing at the building in front him. "So, I see the windows on the second floor, but I don't see any doors or anything down here. How do we get inside?" He stated. Rayne peeked around over Billy's shoulder, it took her standing on her tippy toes to see. He was right there was a single window on the second floor and no doors that they could see from their angle. She took a step back and gave Billy's shirt a slight tug, he got the hint and followed her back behind it. "Do you not smell that?" Billy put his nose in the air and took in a deep sniff. "You talking about the winter air? I mean smells like it may snow but that's all I got." Rayne shook her head. "Nah, it's not winter. It's something chemical based. It's coming from the dumpster, you really don't smell it?" She watched as he shook his head, the curiosity was really starting to bother her but how noticeable would it be if they opened it up and looked in? "It almost smells like ether and if it's ether that means one of two things. They are either making meth here or they are using that to start fires. Help me open the top of this, will ya?" |

Billy nodded to Rayne and cupped his hands so she could put a foot in them. He lifted her with ease, she was small and light. He liked that about her. They could make a very good team, him the muscle, her the brains and the sneaky quick one. He shook his head. "Focus dammit." He muttered to himself. This wound was really doing a number on his brain. Although the pain had subsided for what it was worth. "I'd be willing to bet it's the fires. If I were them, I would get the Fire Department on payroll, and then set fires to places I didn't like, and just make sure the fire guys didn't put it out." That's when it hit him. "We gotta be quick here. If they really are doing that, they could set fire to The Lofts and nobody would be able to stop it." For the first time in a long time Billy felt a sense of urgency and realized that lives, lives he actually cared about, really were on the line here. One of them he literally held in his hands. |

Billy leaned down, cupping his hands for her to step onto. It was just the boost she needed in order to get just above the dumpster. In one more motion she pushed back the flap off the dumpster, a gust of wind grabbed it in the air and slammed it onto the back side of it. The boom echoed through the quiet storage facility, making her and Billy's eyes widen and ears perk up. If there were people here, they surely would have heard that. The grounds stayed quiet, it was an eerie kind of quiet, almost more quiet then before. The only sound she heard was that of Billy's voice. "Hey! I think we best hurry up. Is there anything in there?" Rayne glanced down at him then peered her head into the now opened dumpster. The dumpster was filled up, basically to the brim. There were a couple random black bags trapped in between many glass bottles. All the bottles were empty but all the bottles were the same. She reached in and grabbed one before jumping down out of Billy's hands. It took him a bit by surprise, as he thought she slipped out of his grasp. Almost immediately she felt his hands grip around her waist, from his point of view trying to keep her upright. "I got you!" Billy said in a soft voice. "I see this but look what I got." She showed him the bottle, turning the label so he could see it.
"The whole dumpster is filled with these bottles. There's enough in there to lite up and entire city block. This is not good, not good at all." |

Billy let go and screwed up his mouth trying to think. "All we can hope for is that a lot of that was used at the pier and isn't still inside." He still felt very exposed out there after making so much noise. He'd gotten hurt once today and wasn't sure he would be able to properly protect Rayne if anything went down. "I think we made a lot of noise there, and I want to find out what we can about inside the warehouse, but I also don't want to get into anything we can't handle." As if on cue, he heard footsteps running down the side of the building toward them. "Dammit." He did the only thing he could think to do at that point and he lifted Rayne back up into the air tossing her into the dumpster. He grabbed 3 bottles and closed the lid before rounding the corner to flashlights and guns. "Oh! Holy crap! I...I...I...golly guys, please don't hurt me, I just needed some empty bottles!" He held the empty bottles up so the goons could see them. There were three of them, and they all had guns, but only one of em had the flashlight. "You dumb shit. How the hell did you get in here!?" The guy with the flashlight barked. "I hopped the fence. Cut myself on the top pretty bad too, been bleeding." He pointed at his blood-stained shirt. "Can't you guys just let me have a couple empty bottles and go? My ma is gonna kill me if I don't get back soon, it got real dark fast guys and she's old and can't be by herself too long." One of the guys put his gun down and stepped forward, still silhouetted by the light. Billy could see that none of them were quite as big as he was, but this one was real short. Might... "So what do you need the bottles for bub?" It was a lady! Shit. Billy hated hitting women. He had met some real fine women, and they were all nice to him. He had also met some real mean ones, but he was so much bigger than they were and he did a lot of damage. "I was makin' beer at home. I live around the corner ya see, just above the hardware store. I work down at the docks and some of the guys gave me a thing for makin' beer, so I thought I would try it. I just forgot to get bottles to put it in when I was done. But since I'm so close and all, I hear you guys dumpin' bottles in this here dumpster every night, so I thought, hey, why not, they won't miss em." He shrugged and held up the bottles again. "I can bring back a couple bottles for you if you want. I don't know it's gonna be real good though. It's my first time trying." He gave them the biggest dumbest grin he could muster. And then the lady nodded. "Yeah, alright fine, go on outa here, and bring us back the beer." Billy nodded and reached out with his free hand taking hers. "Aw gee, thanks, you're real swell." And in the next minute he flung the three bottles at the guy with the flashlight. He almost ripped the woman's arm out of it's socket as he pulled her in close and picked her up to use as a human shield. and picked up the lady in one arm to use her as a shield. He reached into her pocket with his now free hand and pulled out her gun, aiming at the other two just as the guy with the flashlight pointed the light back at him. "Well boys, looks like we got ourselves a standoff." He stood patiently waiting for movement from inside the dumpster while this stranger kicked at his shins to make him let go. Compared to a bullet in the side, a kick to the shin was nothing. |

Before she even had time to process what was going on, Rayne found herself in the midst of the bottles inside the dumpster. It wasn't the smoothest landing as she basically landed face first. Bottles pressing up against her she tried to position herself to get a look outside the dumpster. She tried to move as slowly and quietly as possible but with even move the glass bottles clinked against each. With every subtle clink, Rayne could hear the sound of Billy's voice get louder and louder. Almost as if he was trying to direct all the attention towards himself. After a short while of ever so carefully moving, Rayne positioned herself so she could watch what was going on. She watched as Billy played the innocent common man route, he was quite the good actor. If she didn't know him herself, she would have thought he was truly just a random guy looking for bottles. "This may actually work." The thought went through her head, there was only one issue. If it worked and he left, that would mean she would have to figure her own way out. She quickly reached down towards her pocket and still felt the metal tool tucked in there. "Whew! Ok, I got my way out we are all good." The moment she glanced back up Billy took it upon himself to escalate the situation and escalate it rather quickly. Before she even had time to realize what had happened Billy had the woman in his grasp and was using her as a human shield. He had her gun in his hand and was pointing it at the two remaining men, mocking them in a way. She was about to climb out of the dumpster when she heard the sound of a door opening up. It was the main door to the storage facility, at least it had to be. She couldn't see it from her position but it was the only door near them, so it had to be that door. The sound of the door was soon followed by footsteps, a pair of them. "You're so dead now!" The woman that Billy was using for his shield stated. "Now you have all four of them, four against you. Do you really think you stand much of a chance?" She watched as Billy pulled the guns off of the guys and pressed it into the woman's temple. She instantly got quiet but the four men started getting belligerent. It was at that moment it hit her, the woman said all four of them. She had just given up the crucial info she needed. If all four of her guys were out there, that meant no one was inside. If she was going to scout out the inside, this was the prime time to do it. She just hoped Billy could keep this stand off going for a bit longer. She went back and fourth in her head about what to do, even though she knew what needed to be done. Rayne ever so slowly lifted the lid off the dumpster, making sure to keep an ever so trained eye on Billy. She positioned herself onto the lip of the dumpster and jumped down, making sure to bend her legs keeping the jump to the floor as quiet as possible. Now there was so much going on that the four guys kept their sights onto Billy and the gun. The woman fearful of her life was speechless and as tense as could be, she was blind to the world. Making sure Billy could see her, Rayne pointed to herself then to the building. Tipping him off that she was headed inside. She pulled up her sleeve and pointed to her watch then held up three fingers. Indicating she would be back within 3 minutes or at least try to be. With a subtle nod of his head Rayne scampered to the open door. |

Three minutes. This was going to be an eternity. "You're probably right. Four of you against me. Lucky for me, I've got your guns, so I'm gonna just do this..." He tossed all but one way out and over the fence into the woods. And waited to see the faces of the men there. One of them looked in shock at what just happened, the other three? They seemed pretty calm about it. Easy enough, he could take on three guys, the one who looked shocked? That guy wasn't about to fight. "Now, that seems like it's a pretty even fight. I just want to tell you all something before we get started. I didn't cut myself on that fence. Your boss, sent goons to take my money from me earlier. You see I won at those dog Kennels you boys run. Well, some of your paid off cops, you don't have to worry about paying them off any more. In fact..." He pushed the button on the side of the gun and the clip dropped out. It clattered to the floor and he kicked it as far away as he could. "You don't have to worry about paying that guy either." He turned the gun on the guy in the middle of the group and pulled the trigger. The man went down in a heap and he dropped the lady in his arms while knocking her in the back of the head with the empty pistol. She would wake up after this was over, the guy wouldn't. But at least now it was only three against one. Billy grinned a wide grin. "You guys know how flammable ether is? I really hope you can stop me before I light this fuckin place up." Two minutes and thirty six seconds. |

Three minutes, she had to make this quick. Just a quick look around, gather whatever intel she could and get out. It was the thought in her head she told herself while making her way to the opened door. "In and out Rayne, in and out!" Before she knew it she was at the door. The place was wide opened, one giant opened floor plan. There were metal staircases on each side that led to a second floor. Probably offices or just more sort of storage, it didn't matter. She didn't have the time to run up there and check but she did have enough time to give the main facility a bit of a look over. The main facility even though opened up was filled with shelves, industrial type shelves that formed a sort of maze throughout the complex. Each shelf had what looked like milk jug type bottles. This piqued Raynes curiosity a bit as she took a couple steps inward to take a better look. Walking over to the first shelf within reach she reached over and picked up the jug. She began examining it. Clear jug, three quarters of the way full and there was something attached to it. She flipped the jug around the liquid contents shifted inside the bottle making a swooshing sound. On the other side of the bottle was a watch looking thing, there were wires and a couple other components she had never seen before. "What is this?" She thought to herself for a quick couple seconds when it hit her. It was a bomb! Her eyes glared up and then over, she spun around as her eyes widened. The shelves were littered with them, from ground to ceiling, from front to back. This was a HUGE problem. Her heart began to race as she thought of all the destruction that this room held, the countless number of lives that could be taken by these. She knew this was just a recon mission but she couldn't leave these, it had to be destroyed. She glanced down at her watch two minutes and thirty six seconds had passed. It was getting close to that three minute mark she motioned to Billy, without much more thought about it Rayne flipped over the jug and fiddled with the timing mechanism on it. "10 minutes, that should be plenty of time." She put the jug back onto the shelf, pulled up her sleeve to glance at the time and press the start button on the jug. Her heart began to race as the time slowly started winding down. Gently she placed the jug back onto the shelf and took a couple backwards steps making her way back outside the building. She now needed to figure out how to get Billy out of the situation he was in and get their asses out of there and quickly. |

Billy leaned against the wall and took a deep breath. He wiped the blood from his mouth and winced as he stood up straight again. he knew he had reopened the wound in his side, but there was no helping that now. "Alright fucker, I'm done playing games." It was just the one guy left, but he was tough. Billy had him dead to rights, and he still managed to squeeze out. So boxing was not going to be the answer for this guy. Billy moved in, and cocked his right fist back. The guy saw it coming, and side-stepped, right to where Billy wanted him. Mid-stride Billy changed direction, dropped his shoulder and lifted the guy right off his feet and onto the ground. He swung hard with his right and connected, and then just pummeled. He was sitting on top of the guy and just beating down on him when he saw Rayne come outside of the building. He nodded. "Sorry bud, I gotta go, I really fancy this lady and I don't want to keep her waiting." He jumped to his feet, and kicked the guy hard in the side forcing him to lower his hands down in pain. Then he kicked him in the head, twice. Billy turned around to meet Rayne's eyes. "Ignore the blood, most of it is mine. I only killed one of em, the rest will wake up and regret it all later. What did you find?" |

Glancing from the door Rayne was expecting to see Billy still in a standoff, she didn't know how in the very short time to end the situation. To her amazement Billy was on top of the one guy beating the hell out of him, the three others were already on their backs and from what she could see they weren't going to be a problem. She jogged her way over to Billy, jumping over one of the lifeless bodies. She heard him say ignore the blood, then question her about her findings but there was no time for small talk. Rayne looked down at her watch 2 minutes had passed already, meaning they had only 8 minutes to hightail it out of this place. With the amount of chemical in that building they would need to be at least a block away. A block in 8 minutes.... "We have to go! We have to go NOW!" She looked down at her watch then up into Billy's eyes, there was nothing funny about the look it was straight serious in nature. She grabbed a hold of his shirt and gave him a tug in the direction of the fence, in the direction they gained entry to the place. "Billy, 7 minutes 17 seconds..." |

Billy could tell Rayne was serious from one look, so he took off running. She was quicker than he was, which surprised him a little bit, but more in a way that he admired than was jealous of. He caught himself smiling as they ran through the fence. "Why... so... fast?" What had she done inside? Was there some kind of alarm about to go off or something? He started to slow down, but she pulled him along so he had no choice but to keep running. "Rayne, please, tell me what's wrong. I can fix it!." He had taken out four guards. Sure he killed one, but nothing was gonna be on her. They never even saw her. He could take it, whatever was coming as long as she got away. |

Rayne's little legs were moving as quick as they could, she had a step on Billy. She tried to keep in front of him, just to make sure he was still moving with her. She could hear him say that he could fix it but there was no fixing this, she had this completely under control. The only thing they needed to do was to make sure they were as far away as they could possibly get within the time allotted. In the midst of the running Rayne glanced down at her watch. "37 seconds.... 36.... 35..." She didn't know how far away they needed to be but she did know they weren't far enough. They weren't even a half a block from the storage facility. They needed to find cover and quickly. Looking up and still in a sprint, Rayne looked left and right. There were no alleys just buildings, probably all locked up and by the time they would picked the lock it would be too late. There were cars lined up and down the street though, a car could work. With a side step to the right, Rayne pulled out the wire clippers from her pocket and stopped in front of some sort of sedan. Swinging the clippers as hard as she could at the window, making the window shatter into pieces. Sending the glass everywhere, the sound echoing through the streets. She popped the lock and swung the door opened and jumped in the passenger side over the shifter and onto the front seat. Billy followed her lead and jumped into the car, he still didn't know what was going on but followed her into the car. Landing on top of her. He sat up with a bit of confusion on his face. "Rayne? What is going on?" She pulled up her sleeve and glanced at her watch. "4 seconds, 3, 2..." She gripped up Billy by his shirt and pulled him down towards her, so he wasn't looking out of the windshield. "Rayne..." "ONE!" There was a brief moment of silence, in the dark of the car. Then a flash of light that rivaled the brightness of the sun which was followed by rumble and shaking of the earth and the BOOM with a sudden rush of heat" The vibrations shook everything as the car they were in got pushed by the blast wave. The windows all shattered sending chunks of glass down onto them. Then there was another brief period of silence before the debris began raining down. Chunks of brick, metal and whatever else pummeled the car like hail from a thunderstorm. Rayne looked up and Billy and smiled. "I don't think there's much to fix, do you?" |

Billy stared slack-jawed for a few long seconds at Rayne. He thought about kissing her. He thought about yelling at her. He thought about the blood soaking through his shirt onto her jacket. No, that was his jacket. Good. In the end, he sat up, pulled her up off the seat, and brushed the glass out of her hair. He looked out at the fire. "I think, Mrs. Byrne is gonna be livid." Billy slowly turned his attentions back to Rayne, still entirely bewildered and enamored with her. He stepped out of the car gingerly and held out his hand for her to get out safely too. He squeezed hers just a little bit as they stood there watching the fireball on the horizon, watching the other people creep out of their homes to see what earth-shattering thing had just occurred. Billy leaned down and whispered into Rayne's ear. "Hey Rayne, I think we ought to start heading back to the lofts. There's a lot going on right now, cops are bound to show up, firefighters, you know that sort of thing." He tugged slightly so they would start walking, but he never took his eyes off of hers as they watched the fire. |

The blaze was quite a sight to see, she now understood why moths were attracted to the street lights. The destruction she had just cause was immense but for some odd reason it made her smile. Rayne took in a deep breath, the air was filled with smoke and soot, which made her cough once she breathed in. She could hear Billy talking, he was right. It was time for them to leave, they couldn't be there when the authorities showed. Taking note to tug on her, well Billy's coat. Rayne took a couple steps backwards, while still looking at the blaze in the near distance. "Yeah you're right, we should probably get up out of here." She looked over at Billy, his shirt still blood soaked. Though it looked a bit more red then it did before, he for sure needed to get that thing taken care of. Reaching over she gave his shirt a feel, the wet red liquid stuck to her fingertips. "There has to be bandages and first aid stuff at the sewing factory lofts, let me at least help you bandage that thing up when we get there?" Billy reluctantly nodded as the sounds of sirens could be heard in the background. "Well we have a bit of a walk ahead of us, we best get at it. There's one thing we need to figure out, how are we going to explain this one to Bella?" |
