Caitlin steps up to the newly constructed stage in the middle of the plaza and taps on the microphone. A large, seemingly gold tommy gun stands erect on its barrel in the center of the stage. Streamers of red, white, and blue adorn the platform along with a large banner:
Testing.... testing... Can everyone hear me? Good. Caitlin gestures to the small man beside her who is drawing on a black board with a stick of butter. Visual aids will be provided for this speech for the hearing disabled and the lactose intolerables. And without further ado, I'm Caitlin McConnell and I'm here to announce that awards season has arrived and that nominations for the Annual MRAG Awards are now being taken. The MRAG Awards - or the Mafioso and Rumored Associates Guild Awards - are how the organized crime community honor their fellow hoodlums and hooligans. It is a spectacular event, and one which all mafioso should strive to attend. It is invitation only; Only those who are nominated for an award will be invited to attend the awards ceremony. Anyone in the community can submit nominations. All nominations should be sent by mail to me, Caitlin McConnell, and should include one nomination for each category. The categories are:
Nominees do not have to be still among the living, but do have to have graced our community within the past four months. All nominations must be received no later than Tuesday, February 5 at 5 PM Mafia Standard Time. The Nominees will be announced on Tuesday evening, and voting will commence. Details on the voting will be posted in the Nominees announcement on Tuesday evening. Good luck to all nominees, and to all future winners! Gentlemen prepare your best bullet proof vests, and ladies don your garter holsters. Awards season has arrived. |

Many people wont remember people in power a year ago. How is a vote to be cast on a person that cannot even be remembered. Full congratulations to you Caitlin_McConnell, we see a bit of originality in the streets. Im realy looking forward to the big ceromony. All the best. |

Hear ye! Hear ye! All you coffeeshop cliques send in your favorite votes! I'm sure we'll all be shocked to see that all the winners aren't old bloodlines and old cliques, but those that would actually deserve them. Then again, perhaps it will be just the opposite. Can I go on the record for this being a horrible idea? High school popularity contest? Anyone? Anyone? |

Tish, I would argue that if they can't be remembered, they probably don't deserve any recognition. I agree with EffOff, to a certain extent. The winners won't necessarily be the best, but those who are most popular. |

Oh, the old disrespect argument. Anything that goes against someone else...disrespect. Anyone that speaks openly in the streets...spam. And you're concerned with the state of the streets? Excuse me while I go "lolz" in the corner. |

Ah well, to discuss that issue you guys should go elsewhere but not here, please. I like the idea, something new, well, at least to me. I like see people with new ideas and I will vote, that's for sure. Looking forward to see the nominees. Regards, Sal Licata |

To address the question just asked, bloodlines are not necessarily of relevance here. If you know someone who should be nominated for Best Crewleader, and their son went on to become an excellent street speaker, and you wanted to nominate both, you would nominate the father and then the son. Not their family name, but their individual ones. |

| I'd be inclined to agree, had this been the Lifetime Achievement MRAG Awards. As it stands, with it only being 4 months, it limits the influence of bloodlines to an elite few, many of whom have already been nominated for awards. | |

Caitlin taps on the microphone again and clears her throat. Ladies and gentlemen, it hasn't even been twenty four hours yet and nominations are continually rolling in. So far, every category has multiple nominees, and nine nominees in one category in particular. Nearly fifty different people have been nominated, and more than forty different bloodlines have been brought to the MRAG committee. Thank you to everyone who has sent in nominations, and to all of you who haven't or are in the process of doing so, there's plenty of time to get your nominations in. |
