Not to rest on his Laurels Started by: ralph_lombino on Feb 15, '19 01:51

The deed was done. Ralph caught his breath, holstered his pistol, and turned away from the slumped figure with a sigh of exhaustion. The past two days had been long and tiring. But with success achieved, there were only two more orders of business. Ralph walked out of The estate the former godfather of Pasadena had inhabited, casually dropping a match to the oil behind him. His car pulled out as the flames began to build.

Ralph looked up to the drivers seat, where @GiovanniLaurel sat, hands tense on the wheel, then over to @Reverse_Flash, in the seat beside him. Flash nodded, and Ralph Spoke.

"Giovanni, Not back to the HQ. That new place I bought on the docks. It's time we got that set up properly."

Giovanni was yearning for the next moment, for he didn't know what came next. His curious soul asked for more, but for now, he didn't have the answers.

He was ready for anything. @Ralph_Lombino had ensured he would have been. He took a few moments to breathe deep. He was nervous, but he would hide it. He was taught to take a few moments to breathe and relax for a few moments before actually getting into the moment.

A man that's not ready is not responsible, and a man that's not responsible is trouble. Gio knew he was not meant to be trouble. He knew what trouble meant, in LA. He would do as he was told, keeping his wits about himself and going about his duty.

Reaching the docks, he looked back at Ralph. He was waiting for orders, as any good soldier.

"Come on kid, no point standing around. Work to do."

Ralph led the way to the door of the nondescript building, and opened the door.  He stepped through, and stood aside, grinning, as Giovanni stepped in, then stopped, blinking.

"Well, what do you think? We worked in it this past week to get it ready,  and now you're ready also."

The building was far grander inside, with meeting spaces, common areas, and private rooms. It had all the comforts of home, and all the utility of a good HQ. Ralph spoke more formally.

"Giovanni, I would love to have you stay by my side now that I am Godfather of Pasadena. But I cannot afford to hold talent back, and you have shown significant talent. So now, I cut you off the strings, at least in part. You are now my captain, my underboss here in Pasadena.

What will you call your crew?"

Gio was speechless. He was caught off guard, but it was time to step into the shoes his city had fit for him.

The trust they're depositing in me is far greater than myself.

He carefully cased the place out, with his mind racing. Like a curious child, he fiddled with a couple of windows and doors while talking.

"I love it! This is wonderful, I can't thank you enough!" he stopped to look back at Ralph and waited a moment to add solemnity to what he was about to say. It was a big step. But he was ready to take it.

"I shall call it Praxis! I want us to be known for good practices and big gestures. Our name shall be our guideline, so we will never lose track of the goal."

Giovanni wished he had prepared a little better, he wanted to make a toast to this moment. But he quickly reminded himself of his trusty flask, in his coat's inner pocket. He took it into his hands, raised it high and said:

"To Los Angeles!"

He took a swig and passed it onto Ralph. He was excited and nervous, but the warm drink gave him renewed confidence. He was ready.
