Ryan Delaney has been up to his old tricks again for the best part of the afternoon. Voluminous ingestion of alcohol is his game and he has played it almost to completion this time. As a rule this kind of scenario is considered normal for Delaney but on this occasion a cardinal sin has been committed. His forbidden fruit, vodka, played a much larger role in the game than should have been permitted. "Stick to ale and cider." his late father used to drum into his young head. What his father wanted and what Ryan actually did were rarely congruent however. Due to lack of adequate funding he is reluctantly forced to venture from the safe haven of the bar. Ryan had burned his bridges with regards to bar tabs a long, long time ago. The remnants of his vodka binge still stings his oesophagus as he pushes past the door of the bar and into the street. Curiously he does not remember the door being quite so laborious to open. Predictably though, he was not so completely inebriated the last time he was tasked with opening it. Ryan experiences total clarity of thought for an instant as he strolls down the busy pavement. One of his trademark drunken epiphanies has taken hold of him. The details of the plan that is weaved inside the darkened corridors of his mind are only crystalline to him. Only Ryan knows exactly what he hopes to achieve in the next few minutes as he opens his mouth to speak... "Listen up you bunch of ingrates. Yes I am talking to you and yes you find my tone and word choice distasteful. This is of no consequence to me for I am only interested in the challenge I have for you. The premise is very simple, can any one of you say or do something that will force me into retirement? I am talking right here, right now. Shake me up so badly that I will retire from this life on the spot. What is the point in this? You may be asking yourself that very question. My reasons are my own and your success or failure in the challenge is not hinged on knowing such a minute detail. What you will want to know however is that all of my liquid assets will be transferred to the party successfully forces me out. I think I have outlined the game succinctly enough already but to recap. Make me retire and "win" a financial reward. Failure has no consequences other than my own self satisfaction in knowing that I am stronger willed than any of you." |
