Big City Life, Here I Come Started by: Siren on Feb 17, '19 22:05

She stepped off the train and onto a concrete platform where hundreds of travelers hurriedly made their way either toward a soon departing train or off to their final destination.  Handing the porter a generous tip, the man smiled at her as he set her suitcase on the platform and hurried off to complete the unloading for other passengers.  The air was chill on this February morning in New York, but she found it exhilarating and the perfect way to start her new life.

Raised by her parents in the Midwest, she had a wonderful childhood and had attended some of the better private schools.  But with overly protective parents, came the yearning for adventure and being mischievous.   While she would always portray being the prim and proper daughter of a wealthy business man during school or family time, she was quite the opposite on the evenings she snuck away from her home or was supposedly spending the night with her friends.  That is when she was finally able to satiate her desires.

While she had dabbled in drugs and lost her virginity at an early age, that was not what she desired.  What she lusted after was the rush of adrenaline that came with living on the edge of life, and the law.  She had first experienced when she had shoplifted a simply piece of lingerie.  She had all the money should could want from a doting father.  But the excitement of possibly getting caught and the risk of jail or having her parents find out sent a wave of excitement through her.  First it was non-violent thefts and breaking and entering type “adventures”, as she would call them.

But then one of her associates had started showing her how to fire a gun.  The exhilaration of wielding a firearm had empowered her to consider violent crimes as yet another even more exciting attempt to provide some type of satiation of her needs.  Each time, she had become more brazen and her confidence continued to be reinforced by the fact that she was never caught.  Reports were coming out in the paper of a masked woman that had been on a crime spree in the town.  And with each article in the paper, her desires increased.

Then she had met Tony and everything changed.  Her mischievous nature was completely abandoned as he had become her entire world.  She had graduated from college and was working as an intern at her father’s company while Tony worked in the publishing business.  After six months, they had become engaged and were planning to marry this upcoming summer.  Her family was a buzz of excitement and she couldn’t imagine her life being any better fulfilled.

How the last 48 hours had changed things.  Leaving work, she had originally planned to meet with one of her girlfriends for dinner, but she had to postpone due to her child being sick at home.  So she decided that she would surprise Tony at his office with some Chinese food.  He worked late most nights and this would be a nice treat for him.  After picking up the food from their favorite restaurant, she quickly made her way to his office building.  Climbing the three flights of stairs, she stood in front of Baldwin Publishing.  She pulled a key out of her purse that she had copied from Tony’s just for this type of surprise.  After letting herself into the dark office, she could see light coming from the back where Tony normally sat.  As she approached, she could here sounds that began to make chills run down her spine.  As she quietly opened his office door, she saw him sitting in his chair, pants around his ankles, eyes closed as a woman she didn’t recognize provided the source of his moaning with her mouth.

In shock, she stood there for a couple of seconds before she dropped the bag of food to the ground.  Both Tony and the woman jumped with shock when they heard the sound.  The woman scrambled back, cowering under his desk while Tony desperately tried to pull up his pants saying “Oh god, I.  I.  I’m so sorry.”

She turned and began to walk away.  There was no pain as the anger filled her soul.  As she walked past the first desk, he grabbed a metal stapler in her hand.  She could hear Tony beginning to chase after her and calling out “Please, please wait.  Darling, please wait.”  She could sense he was only a few steps behind her.  When she felt him grab her left arm, she whipped around and with the stapler in her right hand, slammed the office tool directly into the side of his head, right where the jaw bone meets the skull.  Tony was not considered to be a large man and she was not a dainty woman.  She had spent her school years competing in track and field events and her strength and agility put her on an even playing field with most men.  The impact was significant enough that Tony dropped to the floor instantly.  While not unconscious, he curled into a ball, holding the side of face, moaning in pain.  She looked at him and didn’t scream, but said with a calm, cold voice “Don’t ever come near me again.  And if you ever lay a hand on me, I’ll cut it off.”  To add insult, she spit on him then looked up toward his office.  The woman was looking out, but quickly hid back under the desk when she had been seen.

She had went home and packed her suitcase.  She had no intention of telling anyone where she was headed or when or if she would be back.  She needed a new start and felt the familiar desires return.  An hour later, she stood in a train station and looked at the schedule.  Almost randomly, she settled on a destination and proceeded to purchase a ticket.  Now, 48 hours after the traumatic event, she stood on a rail platform in New York City.  And from this point forward, her past would stay hidden and she would assume her new alias, Siren.

Grabbing her suitcase, she set off for the city.  Having left her home town so quickly, she had brought minimal money with her and realized that she may be living off the streets for a short time until she could secure employment.  She was going to start her new life on her own and in her own way.
