| Tipping - Auto-anonymous? | Started by: BobRoss on Feb 21, '19 15:13 |

Hey people, I'm gonna prefix by admitting this is a pretty Whenever I tip a forum post, I find myself wanting my tippeee to know I'm the tipper. However, the 'Send Anonymously' box is always checked by default. My suggestion would be that the default would be unchecked and you'd have to check to send it anonymously, like you do for credits. Is this just an oversight in the code, or is this something people have preferred and therefore it's checked by default? Is it common practice to tip anonymously? I always wonder if people just forget to uncheck it when I receive them anonymously and I'd rather the opportunity to know who they are and to thank them, especially when you get an unusually large one out of nowhere.
TLDR - Vote: Tip anonymously checked? Tip anonymously unchecked? |

They were auto set to anonymous as most people preferred it that way when the idea was being suggested. I'm quite happy with the default setting at the moment, but if people feel strongly about this perhaps it should be moved into the Options settings so users can have a choice of which default they'd prefer. |

I think I tend to agree with BobRoss on this one.
Personally I feel like if I uncheck the box when I'm tipping then the person will think that I want a thank you because they know I had to manually untick it first. Which is not the case. I just want them to know I'm inspired by the piece that they have written.
This has prevented me from tipping unless it's something magicial I'll probably not bother sending an anonymous tip. |
