My heart bleeds for the citizens of this country. I'm not sure if or how the mainstream is covering current events of this country. For folks in a well off country, and in my case, America, it is a far away story. It is a story with facts. About 50/51 years ago this country was the 4th wealthiest in the Nation. Fifty years may sound like centuries ago, making this topic boring or irrelevant, but I assure you that you ought to duly note their problems and learn the history Venezuela. 

While Venezuela experienced extenuating circumstances like drought and oil prices that with no doubt worsened their state of affairs, it is evident there is a larger force. And the force is known as Socialism. 

I am blessed to live in America. I love my Country! This is the greatest country in the world! I love immigrants who come here to America for a better life. I appreciate and respect them,as they do me. We break bread at our dinner tables for many years.

At my age, I will not be alive should/when America is a Socialist Country. None of us are promised tomorrow. But lets say you are around when America is a Socialist Country. Then what? Another Venezuela in effect is what will happen. Venezuela is not the only country that has proven socialism does not work.

I have a brother raising 3 children by himself. One is in High School and he went to the school and kindly asked them to teach history and not their opinion on history. My brother does not want teachers brainwashing his children with politics. I applaud his approach. Our University students are brainwashed and now teachers are preying on high schools. The ironic part is our teachers will be effected by a strong possibility of socialism. They mostly fall under the resist Trump team. Yet they have no idea why.

There is nothing nice or compassionate about Socialism. Socialism gives the socialist in Government too much power. They literally decide your worth. When a socialist government is in control they determine our means of production, how much we should earn, what products are necessary for us. With this comes stringent regulations. Trust me, you do not want this happening. 

I was a Democrat for 39 years. I registered Democrat because that was my parents political status. It's a piss poor reason but nevertheless, I looked up to my parents and followed their path. 

Bernie Sanders, a known socialist. He passively condemned Maduro. Not once indicating Maduro should step down. 

Food for thought. It is your future,, your children's, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews....

The USA isn't perfect, but no country is. The EU is about to have (another) shitstorm on their hands with what's happening in Italy, Hungary and Poland. With the exception of maybe The Netherlands, the racism in Europe compared to the USA is very noticeable to anyone who spends time there. You can probably exclude the Bits too...I can't speak on that cause I only spent a week there. But Germany? Poland? Belgium? France? Cmon man.

Anywho. Damn shame what happens around the world. If political debates are the biggest ass pain we have to deal with, we're in pretty good shape. Us as humans, we need to start caring about one another and just share the love man.

Your closing thoughts Angela is exactly what is in order. There is no sense of community anymore.  The lack of, is why our Government got to big and powerful. 

I vote for the candidate that generally best reflects me.   The present situation in the UK, for example, many people don't feel their MPs represent them and often many vote what their friends and parents vote or who they think will offer them the most e.g. Jeremy Corbyn last election.

For me personally, on a lot of things I am centrist I lean to the left of government financing education, healthcare etc but do know will be a bias in many teachers either way.  Same way would be right of the centre on crime.  Politics is broken when the biggest groups for power are actually the lobbyists especially the businesses just looking for self interest for me.
