I'm sure you are all aware of that book that was originally written by Webster himself decades ago. That's right, the dictionary. I'd like to bring forth a word I find interesting. Before doing so, however, I'd like to give you a disclaimer for the masses: This is a debate, not to be taken personal. Yes, this debate has been brought forth many times over; I'm aware of that. But I would like to see some new faces brought to this debate; that is my purpose. New faces means new opinions. I will keep this vague on purpose and not refer to our most recent rogues. Now, onward. rogue -noun 1. a dishonest, knavish person; scoundrel. 2. a playfully mischievous person; scamp: The youngest boys are little rogues. 3. a tramp or vagabond. 4. a rogue elephant or other animal of similar disposition. 5. Biology. a usually inferior organism, esp. a plant, varying markedly from the normal. A rogue, when he divides himself from his family is attempting something. Very rarely do we see the "I just want to shoot whatever moves" rogue. Everyone has a plan. Some believe they are evolving our community by ways of dispatching the people they believe to be garbage. Success or failure is irrelevant. Unless a rogue managed to kill each and everyone of us; which I imagine to be a more difficult task than attaining the title of Godfather, the rogue will not succeed. But try for a moment, if you can, to see it from their eyes. What would you be fighting for? |

There are all manner of reasons for going rogue. Avenging the death of your CL after he is taken out would be the most obvious, and probably the only route to roguedom that inherently holds any honour. All other routes, really, are taking up arms in favour of a personal opinion, and in so doing you betray your family by default. One of my ancestors once went rogue to avoid getting his boss associated with a decision he had taken, while he dressed it up in pretty words, he ultimately decided to fight for a cause HE believed in, over and above the beliefs of his boss, and the rest of the family.
I am not sure I follow your logic here. Were I, and let's please remember this is theoretical here, to rank a little, train hard, and decide that I hated CL A's leadership and believed that they needed to die, I could go rogue and shoot them. Now, once this is done, I have accomplished my mission, what next? The "honourable" thing to do would be to allow myself to be killed... but I am, at this point, a rogue, who gives a shit about honour now? That went out the window when I bought out from the family. So I guess I settle some old scores, shoot some people that I dislike and enjoy the ride for as long as possible. What it isn't, is unsuccessful. The objective of killing CL A has beed achieved... Look up 'success' in Websters. |

When you become a Rogue. You are not fighting your anything really, but for what you perceive as "right". If you don't think that your CL is fit, then you would surely not just sit there and let him/her lead? Well many people do. For the ones who don't. They are the ones I admire. Is it silly to admire a Rogue? I hope not. They do what everybody else is afraid to do. If you hear somebody going about and whining. Do you not tell him to do something about it? I've done this several times. This "thing of ours" lets us do just that. It allows us to do something about it. Sure you are going to die. But, you already know that the moment that you go bold. It isn't something that you don't think about. Basically, you are throwing your life away when you do this. You aren't going to let it slip to the back of your mind. However, if you are set on one goal, then you are going to acheive it. Deadly or Not. Now the people who run out and kill themselve foolishly are still going to die. Just in the worst way. They are going to lose all honor in the process. I've done this many times. So from my point of view. This is something that you do not really think about... you just do. Mostly because you are drunk or bored. Also... they are entertaining. 'Nuff Said. |
