Recently we saw a crew leader fall. I am not going to discuss the details of that; there are already plenty of conversations doing so already. What I would like to draw your attention to is the immediate fallout from the rogue's actions. Of course, the hitters saw Moretay's death, and within seconds were targeting the newly unsponsored members. It happens every time; I have long since stopped being surprised by the lack of moral fibre of our world's hitters. No, what I would like to address is just what the newly unsponsored are supposed to do? Now, in the case of a war, there is an argument for just screwing them over and letting them die, especially the ranks, I get that. In the case of a rogue, is that really just? Our organisation was founded on the principles of providing justice where the state let the people down. Providing protection, in many instances, where the state; or to put it another way "the man" had let them down. In return, La Cosa Nostra was afforded certain courtesies - the best tables in restaurants, substantial discounts, and gifts from grateful people. The current population of our society is around 400. Of these 400, perhaps 50 are destined to remain homeless and become target practice for the bloodthirsty among us. With a few exceptions, there is a limit of 50 people per family. Now, there are six families, thus a theoretical capacity of 300. Do you see where I am going with this? Even assuming another auth is made soon, we can only JUST house the population. One more rogue, a war, heaven forbid a large one, and we there will be many homeless people, mostly innocent, with nowhere to go. Should we not expand our potential housing figures to encompass not only those who are here now, but also some that will come from overseas? Moreover, leave some wiggle room for those who are made unsponsored from the next CL's death? Those that do join our world now are obscenely limited to who they can join. Two of the families are beyond capacity, there are two more with a massive two spaces available, and the two new families with a combined 55 spots available. I would like to see a world with at least two crews in every city. I would like to see people choosing what family they join on merit, not on the basis that they are the only ones left with any spaces in their HQ. Yes, that means supply will out-strip demand. It means that CL's will be judged and assessed by potential members. It means that, once that thought has gone in to whom to join, the members start out with a desire to be there - not merely a little gratitude for having a sponsor at all. I am sure there are drawbacks to this idea... that you will all share with me now. |

From what i understand, the Gods will be allowing the current CLs to have smaller crews within themselves, their crew being the main one... So in actuality the member cap per family once the new crew system is brought down from the heavens will be 150 i think... My sources also tell me that it is a possibility to see these changes within the week.. You bring up valid and understandable points sir and i hope this will allow you to breath easier as i know it has afforded me the same. |

I understand the need for new families and I'm all for diversity, but, well, who do you see walking the streets and think "how isn't that guy in bold?" because I'm not thinking that about all that many people. Look at the leaders we have and have had in the recent past. Some were not my ideal choices and frankly didn't earn the responsibility they were afforded. What are the requirements to go bold now? I hear names of people mentioned from time to time and I actually have to search to find out who the hell they are. Is that who we want as our leaders? I can't vouch for the work that others are doing behind the scenes of their organizations, but really, have I overlooked someone? |

I would like to think that fact that anyone from any background is being given an opportunity would be incentive enough to make an effort. TheCaptain, Witchy, PrinceOfCheese, Cathy_Parks, JKalos and BruceCarrol. I don't see any links or favouritism towards coffeeshop besties in that line up, despite how much we're told about it. This would suggest to me that if you want it and you earn it, you'll get it. |

Why do people need to be promised auth to work hard? If someone wants auth it's actually pretty easy, work hard for your boss, develop a presence in the community, prove decent intelligence and don't make influential people hate you. Unfortunately most of the beggars who think they have a right to bold don't do half those things... Anyway you are right, 400 into 300 doesn't go but there is still a little space in the current families which indicates to me that the remaining 100 couldn't be bothered getting themselves sorted out... I would suggest it's likely that something will shift in this area over the next few days but why respond to criminals who don't seem to even care about themselves? Is it down to the leaders to search them out and send them invites? I certainly think not but I've heard certain individuals seeming to think so... Just my POV and it's a good topic of discussion for which I offer thanks to Anthony. |

I am going to have to toss my vote in with His Royal Cheeseness on this one. As well, I think having limited space available is a good thing to bring out the competition. If I were in a position of power, I would like having a choice of which folks I wanted. With fewer spaces, perhaps it'll give folks pause as to how they act from the moment they hit the docks. Maybe having the limited space available would encourage newcomers to be a bit more pro-active in finding a home. I would work harder, as a newcomer, if I realized I needed to truly impress my potential boss, not just be slightly coherent. I am rambling and for that I apologize; I blame it on a horrible head cold and the rum I've been drinking in a vain attempt to kill it. The cold, not my head. |

Looks at the numbers and notices Las Vegas still has a bit of room I like the idea of two leaders in a city - backup and more space and we wont even be stableish and on the road to better things until all our cities are full. Anyways Las Vegas still has a few spots for the mafioso who live past their first week in our world... |

We have just been discussing this in the coffee shops, I was unaware that the two LV families had only got 25 man HQ's. This means that as of right now, there are 4. Count them, 1, 2, 3, 4. Spaces available for new recruits. And there was a small ship arrived today (ooc: advertising was turned on earlier today) So while I agree, there's few decent candidates. I look forward to the forthcoming changes... Something needs to be done, and it needs to be done soon. |

| Ah, an interesting dilemma, this housing shortage. It's a difficult time for everyone. We'll just have to dig deeper into our pockets and make sure our bosses remain protected, so the shortage doesn't get worse. | |

While there may be a slight problem at this time it does not say that the problem is going to remain. Just because every action is not spelled out in the streets for all to see does not mean that something is not being done about it. Patience is a virtue that is sadly lacking in this day and age. |

| On this note I could think of plenty of people who are qualified and have worked to become a CL. Many have been CL's and do not wish to be again. I know one for sure that would love to be a CL. He has made capo and has always worked hard for his family, also he is a very friendly individual. I think with how hard he has worked maybe he deserves at last. Many know him and few don't. I think SuperSao should be given the oppurtunity. He is a great man and I'm sure he'd do great things for us. Help house and be a great Crew Leader along with all the ones today in our world. | |

| You know, one could say that what you'd need every so often would be a war of houses. Brings new blood in and keeps the other houses warry of your area and lets you run things in your own way. If nothing happens then no one moves up. The main thing you should do is coordinate for a mass attack against a weaker house. Destroy them. Then, allow one of your trusted lieutenants to spin off and make a new house that works with yours. Give them some muscle but never let them get too powerful so that you still can control them. At least that's my opinion. But then again, no one asked me. | |

I'm sure someone has already said this...but the CL's are working on finding some new auths to fill the empty city so I'm sure the housing crisis will have a solution here in the next few days. Our CL's work hard and they deserve some patience so please, give them what they deserve? |

I'm a fan of two crewleaders per city as well, even with the changes being made. Sure, I've heard the "they aren't deserving" argument, but really, how do you know? People need a chance to lead to prove they are capable of leading. People need the opportunity at the very least. I mean, and I won't point anyone out in particular, have all our crewleaders now actually proved more than others to get where they are at the moment? This place needs diversity. This place needs hope. This world needs opportunity. |

Oh, and I forgot to add to my point... I keep hearing "give leaders patience". "They have lives too and can't solve everything right away." Really? Then what sets them above anyone else around here? We need more than explanations of why so and so was taken down and "Congratulations New Auth". We need teamwork. We need creativity. We need solutions to real problems. We need leaders. Hey, leading isn't easy, but it's a necessity in this thing of ours, lest our world crumble into stagnancy. |
