Katie was new to Philadelphia, and her life felt like a whirlwind. She was running for her life to make it onto the ship sailing west out of Ireland, and on the ship things had ground to a halt. Every day onboard was the same boring process of waking, eating, and trying to find a way to pass the time with the other poor passengers. She'd learned how to play cards, at least.

But when the ship docked in Philadelphia, everything accelerated for her again! Walking onto the streets, she was surrounded by people encouraging her to find work. Apparently these streets weren't kind to independent men and women. After speaking to a few friendly people about the sort of business she was hoping to get involved in, they mostly directed her to the south part of the city. She used some of the last of her money to buy a pretzel for a homeless man, who kindly pointed out the correct headquarters building. Katie waited there for an hour and when the first man came out she walked up to speak to him. 

That was Aurelio, her new RHM. They spoke for a little while, asking each other questions before she was welcomed aboard. But he also mentioned that the family needed jobs done, and Katie was determined to prove herself. 

Flipping through the list of available jobs, Katie started to get a little nervous. So many of them required muscle. Or violence. Not exactly her specialties. Finally, she found one that she could handle. Taking down a politician.

There was a city council debate organized for that night. Her target was named Sean Burke. He'd been saying some things he shouldn't about morality and cleaning up the city, and Katie was going to stop him. With a mischievous smile, she walked up next to a reporter who was looking at the stage, where the candidates were about to emerge. Looking at the reporter, spoke to him with excitement in her voice, playing the part of the starstruck young woman. She manipulated the conversation deftly, letting the reporter ask what brought her here- and when she mentioned the new man who'd swept her off her feet was running for city council, she could see him get excited. After all, both men were married.

The reporter quickly ran off to spread news of the cheating politician, but in the chaos of the crowd he lost sight of the young woman who'd been following him. Cursing his bad luck, he nevertheless ran odd to spread the news.

Katie stuck around long enough to hear the flustered politician answer the first few questions about his marital infidelity before making her way to the door. Hopefully her new crew would consider this a job well done.

The recent attacks on shipments had put the entire headquarters in a foul mood which meant it was the absolute perfect time for a spot of good news. That good news had taken the form of a new associate and a politician struggling. The latter of which being something that no one in their right mind would hesitate to enjoy to the fullest. He had to tell Mrs. Byrne, she needed something to get a good laugh about and the message he had in hand would more than offer that.

He knocked on the door before pushing his way in, just in case today had delivered any more bad news. No sense surprising her and having an unfortunate incident.

"Mrs. Byrne? If you've got a minute I was hoping to talk about the new associate. She went on a job for us, the one about Sean Burke? Well, we've had a bit of news on that front."

Aurelio couldn't help stifling a snicker as he laid the Officer Katzenbach's note on the boss's desk. In bold font at the head of the page was a headline the crooked cop had seen a reporter writing at the debate the night before: "Candidate Burke's Hypocrisy - Serial Philanderer Exposed"

"Turns out that miss O'Connor convinced a reporter that she was having an affair with him and when they asked about it at the debate he got flustered and confused her with one of his mistresses. That pissed off the good Christians in the crowd, his wife, and the other two ladies on the side."

The snicker slowly grew into a full out belly laugh and Aurelio plopped into a chair opposite the desk, fearing that he was going to have trouble keeping his feet. It never ceased to amaze him how slowly politicians and married men learned to get their shit in order. The funniest part of the whole thing though was that half the folks already spinning the presses to condemn him were just as bad and would go to bed tonight thanking their lucky stars it wasn't them at the podium.

"We ought to have the new lady run a few more errands. I know a couple folks that could use a shock."

Bella smirked.  "I like her style.  She shows real promise.  Why don't you bring her in to meet me?  I'll see if I have a job or two that she might be interested in handling.  She keeps up like this and we'll have to see her promoted before too long.  It's a problem I'd like to have more of lately.  Been too quiet around the HQ.  We need some associates with real 'get up and go' attitudes."

She leaned back in her seat.

"I don't know where you dug this gal up, Aurelio, but you keep bringing us associates like this and I'll have to give you a raise."  She gave the young consigliere a wink before turning back to her paperwork.
