Katie had only been in Philadelphia for a short while, and it was already starting to feel like home. If you squinted enough, the city seemed close enough to Ireland. Or maybe she was just desperate. 

She missed Ireland. There was a hole in her heart that would never be filled there. The air, the accents, the green hills... she suspected she'd always miss them. But as she paused and watched the river, she was comforted by the fact that the same water would eventually wind to Galway Bay. 

Besides, the only thing left for her back home was death.

This new crew was so welcoming as well. They'd given her so much financial support on her arrival that she was tempted to just pocket it and skip town. But if they had that much to throw at someone they barely knew, well didn't that mean there was a pretty big amount of money she could get a slice of?

Running her fingers along the edges of the bills she'd been given, Katie decided to stay. Then she decided to go shopping. The simple dark shirt and trousers would do for most occasions now, but she wanted to be ready to move in more expensive circles if she needed to. 

First, she opted for a handful of more casual looks. Dark shirts and trousers. Some long skirts. Some blouses that wouldn't look out of place in a business meeting, mostly white with a couple light blue. A spring jacket. Then she moved onto dresses. A slim black sheath dress that left her arms bare was perfect for a semi-formal occasion, and she added a few cocktail dresses of various colors for more informal adventures. Two low cut gowns, one blue and one black, completed her wardrobe. And her budget.

It was only when the boy carried her bags onto the sidewalk for her that she realized she'd impulsively made her decision to stock up her closet before she even owned a closet. 

Smiling, she hailed a taxi. A hotel would do for a couple days. She'd just have to do another job soon, to prove herself and to make a little more money.
