"Ladies and Gents, seeing as people... err persons seem to have a problem with the hilarious entertainer Richard Wad or as he prefers, Dick... Does the wad still go on the end? Meh Never mind, I've decided to make my own speech, actually fall short of a speech but maybe spark a debate?"

Prophet coughed.

"We have cities here, and in these cities we have crews, in fact in ALL these cities we have lets say organizations, groups of people that share a common goal, or interest. Both being money, now we have 28ish crews, 28ish is because I wasn't raised so well and so yeah, 28ish crews. Divided amongst eight cities, each have their own rules and a code to live by to be honest from family books are generic copies of each other and involves only having the use of common sense to follow and stay out of the line of fire, sure some will have different crew standards but all are fairly the same?"

"So now the question I propose is why? or what? Why is to why are the crews so similar? A winning formula I would guess, but such a guess would be an aimless stab in the dark, it could be some are too lazy? Hopefully not, and probably not, and to answer what? What do you crew leaders do to, stand apart, to assert yourself in that city, to show your there in force or in support, but there nevertheless! Is it you don't want to be seen? So it's easier to run a tight ship? Or is it that you don't want to come face to face with a bullet? This is not a i don't know what people will call it, but I guess the word that will put it bluntly is insult? I do not intend to insult any crew leaders especially not this early into my career. But the question stands? What do you do? To be you? Or why don't you do it?"

"Oh also maybe associates and button men would care to answer if they please with a hypothetical answer."

(Not much but better than nothing? Your choice if it is)

I think your questions stated above are all over the place, not saying thats a bad thing. But there is way to much questioning going on, perhaps not really setting a direction for the responder to address their response in.

But the question stands? What do you do? To be you? Or why don't you do it?"

However the above line stuck out to me, so I will just go ahead and answer that. And the answer to that is simple, I can stand here and talk all day about the intricate inner workings of my family and how Philadelphia conducts business in general, but I don't think that would satisfy the answer. Its quite simple really, I am a believer in the fact that the leader of the crime family (the city head) becomes the face of the organization he or she runs. The thoughts and reasoning of this person eventually will dictate the kind of system they implement in their respective city to allow business to grow.

With only 7 cities around, the direction set by the city head is usually the boundary line that their crew leaders get to work under. The Godfather usually defines these parameters, which are pretty specific, while at the same time it allows there CL's to occupy a space within that framework. And this is where the differentiation really shows up, since the heads of the cities usually don't get involved in day to day matters, the CL's get to enjoy their moment in the lime light.

Every leader is different, based upon the situation, the city heads will setup auth's accordingly. Some of these CL's maybe passive, others aggressive. Further more I would like to think there is even more differentiation past that. Some CL's are all about teaching and showing the new how to walk the right path, others (and not always) like to sit back and watch the crew work, while they do nothing. And then you have the managing types, which are usually your Under Boss's.

So what makes them stick out? I think its pretty much how you hold yourself in public. Honor & Respect go a long way in our business, if you portray your self as a hard working, respectable leader...people are bound to pick up on that. And this is the 'YOU' part of it, which people get to see in the streets, then there is a 'them' part which pertains to lineage. No matter what anyone says, bottom line is your lineage will always be remembered for something, good or bad. A lot of the times lineage opens paths that wont open if the person didn't know you. Some say thats wrong, I ask why? If someone that worked for me was to die in an accident and his son shows up to my door step tomorrow, would I not award him the same treatment I awarded his dad? Granted, those awards wont come the first night, but still...its human nature. We use the same rifles, use the same get away cars...superstition? Or trust?

At the end of the day, in my eyes the leaders usually stick out based upon what they achieve and strive to do out here in the streets and in their HQ's. Having a top HQ is the most basic necessity to being good at this trade, and if you have the necessary street skills, you have a tandem that can't be overlooked...it gets picked up!

Yes, it was over the place wasn't it, but I am a bit of a scatter brain at the moment, this is my first speech in what I hope to be many, it can only get better from here.

As for your answer, it's perfect, well it's my own opinion, but I would like to hear more on the subject, but you haven't left much room to cover.

Prophet smiled.

Excellent.
