"War isn't good for business."

You've heard it. I've heard it. Hell, chances are you've said it yourself before. But the question is, have you ever truly thought about it?

Or were you simply replicating something you heard someone else once say?

Okay, I know this is terrible timing since we just saw a takeout but PLEASE, to those who have lost friends or descendants of the deceased, I ask you to see my point objectively, not from a mindset set on vengeance and/or regret.

And this isn't a place to debate about this past war because frankly, not only did I not have a part in it (I don't even own a gun), but this isn't the speech for that. Those wishing to address grievances pertaining to that war, please see GF Ragnorak's speech.

Who says war isn't good for business? In fact, isn't it great for business - the winners at least?

Think about it, post-war:

- More potential associates looking for a family, possibly to serve (INSERT YOUR CITY NAME HERE). Benefits: increased income, increased manpower/ blah blah.

- Greater monopoly. Think about it ratio-wise. More families = more competition = less power. Less families... you know how it goes.

- Gun (or in these days, cannon) practice. What are you gonna do, FEED the bodyguards of the deceased? Of course you'll train your gun. And this is great practice for people of ALL skill levels (with the exception of me, of course - I'm a vegetarian).

- The benefit of making a post-war speech declaring your victory/authority (OPTIONAL)

War tests us. It weeds out the weak and unprepared (simple Darwinism at its best) while rewarding those with good timing, luck, and overall manpower.

So tell me. How is war bad for business? Sure, you might argue that everyone suffers losses to some extent, but do the benefits not outweigh the deaths? If anything, it solves the overpopulation crises we have every few months or so.

To quote a late Don, we have "too many chiefs and not enough indians."

N'est-ce pas?

Your turn.

Although I do agree with you in most part, I fail to see any 'over population crisis' Quite the opposite actually.

If anything these streets are under populated, especially for the amount of families around and the number of cities these are spread. But I do too agree, that war, can be good for business. With the current population, in my eyes anyway, spread a little thin over the large number of families, war is a great way to 'consolodate' the people we do have, bring people closer together and help stabilise some of the 'smaller' families.

It will be nice to see 'what happens next' in regards to NO, but I will not lie and say I hope for another 2/3/4 familes set up there. As then the war we just wittnessed will have lost its benifit.

Pahaps some families can spread themselves out a little, set up shop in NO and free up some of the more crowded cities.

But hey, just my thought.

Ah, poor choice in rhetoric on my behalf. What I meant by 'overpopulation' is the disproportionate button-to-associate ratio. Too many leaders, not enough followers.

Thank you for pointing that out, Kes-. I appreciate your input and wish you a happy day of pettying that I could never enjoy myself :)

I certainly see your argument here and i would have to say i'm inclined to agree. For example let's look at the economic climate at this present time. CDs cost a small fortune, sure there's a lot of money in the economy at present but La Cosa Nostra is a pyramid. Money, ultimately, rises to the top. Now i don't have a problem with this, it helps keep us safe and it stops young guys blowing it on worthless pish. However, should a full scale war kick in now (god forbid) then a lot of money would be taken from the game. This would cause the price of crackdowns to go down even though the same amount of money is available from our day to day activities.

War is needed to keep the cycle moving, and to keep the cash flowing. Regardless of whatever negatives it may bring.

To be honest i worry about the blood coming and staying here to, some families are lifers to these cities and will always come back after the death of their mother, father, sister, brother etc.  Unfortunately, for members getting a feel for the work they may dissapear from our society with the mere gain of cheaper credits as well as some of the members coming to other families. or setting up in the same city under the present/future auths.  Possibly also more ia's available as people build according to their skill e.g. defence which doesnt benefit all of society.

Later down the line can also create more tension and rogues as with the the past after take downs.  To me my only general thoughts of war/take downs is at least the problem is solved and we can go back to making money without that threat over our head.  What can be a benefit for now, can be a curse in future.
