Wetter the Better Started by: Isabella_Ditto on Feb 04, '08 13:22
The lights are flashing. The music starts and the announcer starts introducing the host and the contestants.

Welcome to the game show where contestants are here to answers some questions to win 100,000 dollars but if they are wrong they will be dunk in tank.

Now let me introduce the host. Say hello to Miss Isabella_Ditto.

She steps onto the stage and waves to the crowd and the contestants. The announcer continues and introduces the contestants.

Our first contestant is AntonioAdrona, he is from the Red Fez Connection. Our second contestant, Scarlett-Rose, she is from the Mafia Tribune. And our last contestant is RyanDelaney, from the Red Fez Connection.

Now let's play the Wetter the Better.

The audience stands and gives a round of applause to our contestants.

Isabella explains the rules to the contestants.

The object of the game is to answer as many questions you can in three rounds. The first round, you will earn 25 points for each question. The second round, you will earn 50 points. The final round, you will earn 100 points for each correct answer. But if you are incorrect you I will press my big red button and you will take a swim in your tank, which you all are sitting on. After you have been dunked three times you are eliminated from the game. The last one standing or whoever has the most points at the end of game will win 100,000 dollars.

A question will be asked and the first person, who buzzes first, will get the chance to answer it.

Now are you guys ready.

They all say yes and Isabella asks her first question.

My first question is...What are the three primary colors?
Report Post Tip
The first question I could easily answer, yet I won't so as no to ruin the fun for other individuals. I would assume, however that since the question value goes up in points, that the questions will be harder in the next round?

If this is indeed the case, there may be questions that the answers to which I simply could not fathom, for example:

"What the hell does this have to do with La Cosa Nostra?"
Report Post Tip
Mr Toreno? Please point me in the direction of this sign that explicitly, or implicitly for that matter, states that all speeches on the streets should concern La Cosa Nostra?

I must have missed it when I walked onto the streets.

Mind you, if there was a sign, don't you think the police might have cottoned onto the fact that is is everyone involved in La Cosa Nostra on the streets?? Mmmm, having 2nd thoughts about your interestingly ridiculous contribution?

No?

Awww, shame, because it was in fact my intention just to make you look as stupid as you hoped to make Miss Ditto here look. And believe me, you do look stupid.

And that's without my assistance.
Report Post Tip
this is merely a game to keep this shit exciting... if ya havnt noticed its kind of boring aorund the streets anymore

Nick removes his mafia bible stashed (for whatever reason) in his fedora and reads an excerpt

"...Prohibition era in the USA, keep this in mind when you are creating IN-CHARACTER threads in these [Street and Bar]forums."

Apologies for the strange turn of phrase I used just there, I do have a rare case of OOCitis; but I think that's a pretty implicit statement taken from the good book itself. I care not about the police, everyone knows they get a handsome pay off to do our business here as we see fit.

You intended to come here and try and make me look stupid, yet you concede that this is something I've already achieved without your help. "Mmmm, having 2nd thoughts about your interestingly ridiculous contribution?"

Ryan was probably drunk when he agreed to be a performing monkey in this show. The lure of cash coupled with an insatiable thirst for alcohol was only ever going to have one outcome; monkey time. The first question actually insults him at first but he then decides there must be some hidden agenda behind such a simplistic query.

Well it all depends on what medium is being applied. We could have red, blue, green or magenta, cyan, yellow. Even then the answer is still very basic unless we are supposed to be delving into some abstract meaning. Something along the lines of primary colours actually being the building blocks that hold our criminal empires together. Red could represent the bloodshed required to maintain order, green being the money that drives our every action and blue being the law who have to be kept in check at all times for the whole thing to run smoothly.
Report Post Tip
Isabella listens to RyanDelaney's answers and proceeds.

I am sorry but you are wrong. But you did say the answer in a wonderful way.

She pushes the red button.

EEEEHHHHHH!

The crowd sees RyanDelaney fall in the water.

Splash. Splash. RyanDelaney comes up from the bottom of the tank and spits out water and pulls himself back up.

The correct answer is Red, Blue, and Yellow.

And now onto our next question.

She pauses.

What is President's Roosevelt favorite hobby?

She waits for one of the contestants to answer.
Report Post Tip
Ryan is clearly puzzled and a tad annoyed.

Red, blue and yellow are not the primary colours.
Report Post Tip
Toddles nearby and stops in confusion when she hears Isabella speak.

Excuse my interruption! I may not be a contestant, but I must say, this man is right. Perhaps my schooling was off...

Mutters under her breath, "But I assure you it was not!"

...Yet I was led to believe that the primary colors are the ones that Sir Delaney stated in his answer. Perchance this was just a case of mistaken identity?

Kates grins broadly before lumbering off in search of her business associate.
Report Post Tip
Nick, well quoted, but how is that relevant? Miss Ditto is perfectly "in character", as you choose phrase it. I never knew that being in the Mafioso character meant that you were limited in what you could talk about on these streets of ours.

Sorry, I shouldn't be sarcastic.

It's not big and it's not clever.

But it's so damned appropriate, so I feel justified.
Report Post Tip
Still reeling from the injustice he has been handed, the steady nattering of ingrates in the background begins to irritate Ryan greatly. He finally snaps and unleashes a volley of hate.

Will you all just shut the fuck up about in and out of character? I have no idea what you are all talking about but it is compounding the agony that is this rigged quiz. Take your quarrels elsewhere before I let my knife join the party.

He stares coldly at the individuals who are angering him, his eye twitching slightly as he imagines the visceral joy plunging a knife into each and every one of them would bring.

*In best announcer voice*

Because primary color select is arbitrary, many combinations do exist. While your answer may have been technically correct, it was not the answer we were looking for (That answer, of course, being one of the ones you did NOT pick).
Report Post Tip
The judges take another look at his answer, and agrees RyansDelaney's answer was indeed correct.

Isabella feels so bad so she sits on one of the tanks and let's RyanDelaney to push the button.

-----My bad, I wrote down the wrong answer.------
Report Post Tip
Delaney stares on in disbelief, struggling to maintain his resolve in the face of the sheer ignorance on display.

Primary colours cannot be chosen arbitrarily. They are clearly defined and split based on additive and subtractive primary colours. They cannot be replaced by alternatives at a whim. That is like saying that e=mc can be fleshed out by arbitrary constants like c=13 sheep. It is just a ridiculous concept.

*Again in announcer voice*

According to the scientific magazine with the crazy name, "Wikipedia", primary colors are INDEED arbitrary. For instance, this expense new color newspaper technology uses cyan, magenta, and yellow to display fantastic color. The autochrome fad used orange, green, and violet. And for most of the artistic world, Red, Yellow, and Blue is used.
Report Post Tip
Guys--Can we move on? Its not a big deal. Read my previous post.
Report Post Tip
You obviously do not grasp the definition of arbitrary. Try the fantastic book titled "dictionary". Perhaps the author of the article in this "wikipedia" magazine was also mistaken. I hear its contributors are not always from a professional background and as such any input must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Blitzioso wanders by, his gaze immediately drawn by the imminent stage-side melee. Not for long though as the light glances off an ominous looking red button, straight into the centre of his eye, and his curiousity.

Wonder what this does...

Tinman sits down and ponders the last question. He thinks he knows the answer but is cautious about responding due to the water. Water on his outer shell could cause major rust and discoloration. He ponders some more and eventually says in a low voice.

I believe I read where his hobby was stamp collecting.

Tinman waits for the submersion into water, thinking he better get out fast and dry off.
