Myrddin's Story Started by: Marcus on Dec 11, '10 08:40

The wind swept over the hill that Marcus thought he wasn't, wouldn't have to visit for a long time. Unfortunately the time came much to quickly. Another gust of wind, this time with a bit of snow was blown up towards him, whispy hands reaching out to take his hat and rustle his coat away from him. Marcus held a cigarette between his lips and placed his hand on his hat, moving his shoulders closer together and waited for the gust to pass. Once it did, he took the cigarette out of his mouth, ashing at on the snowy ground and cursing under his breath. Why did it have to be Myrddin?

Marcus was happy with the family plot he had picked out a few years back, it sat farther back in the large Chicago cemetery then most of the other head stones. A few trees huddles around the outskirts of a short fence like boundary that wrapped itself gently around the space. When it was time to decide where to bury Myrddin, there was no question about it. Myrddin was like a brother to Marcus and there was no other place for his bones to rest then in Marcus's family plot.

Marcus smiled at the thought of Myrddin being a brother, a little brother to be specific. He took a slow drag off of his cigarette thinking about how himself and Premeir had taken Myrddin under their wings, guided him through the life of crime and what a man Myrddin turned out to be. Not that Marcus had ever any doubt in his brother, but could appreciate the sweat, work and blood Myrddin had put into his life, his family and into the city of Chicago.

The Don shifted his weight and started to stand up. He had crouched in front of the fresh grave for far to long, his legs let out a bit of a scream as his muscles had fallen asleep. But he could no longer look at the head stone, he was obsessing about it and it was making him dizzy. Marcus flicked his cigarette beyond the small fence and lit another one. The red embers burning brightly against the gray painted day. Marcus took a look at the sky, over cast and threatening more snow. His mind drifted off to the day Myrddin had been given the nod to start his own family. It was a good memory, one that Marcus needed to bring happiness back into his heart and to free him from the pain that had latched on and was not easy to shake off.

Remember that one Myr?

Marcus spoke to the sky and then to the headstone.

When we decided to let you go and pave your own fiery path. You were surprised, I remember the exact look on your face. Your smile was tender like a small child at Christmas opening up their first present from old saint nick, but also eager and hungry to get your hands dirty.

He chuckled remembering, inhaling some of his cigarette.

You pulled Remus_Lupin right along with you and built a strong family, but you always had it in you. A sense of loyalty unlike any other man or woman I've ever met. You held Chicago and it's people in your heart. Every job you did, every crime you committed and every thing you did for the rest of us expressed how much you wanted this life and how much you enjoyed it.

Snow finally started to fall from the sky, big flakes that stuck to Marcus's jacket and quickly started to cover the ground near the headstone that was fresh, no snow had been able to blanket it yet. A few minutes passed as Marcus's mind ran through memory after memory and when he looked around his surroundings the snow had quickly covered everything white. The scenery had been painted white over the gray, Marcus saw it as a new beginning, one without Myrddin, but one with him closer then ever.

You always asked me the simplest questions and with anyone else I would have scoffed at them, but your nature was so fresh and pure that I couldn't help myself to do nothing but mentor you, teach you our ways.

Marcus smiled again at this new thought that swam through his mind.

Once I explained something to you, that was the only time I had to. You were a quick learner Myrddin, the quickest I know. You didn't stop there Marcus chuckled. No, you ran with the knowledge you learned. You went up and beyond my expectations and Chicago's as well. The city was yours and you were the city's.

Marcus sighed a heavy sigh. He missed his brother, but would always keep the things he learned from him close in his mind, would always remember Mryddin. He silently said a goodbye and turned to the car that was waiting for him. As he walked towards the rumbling automobile he realized how cold he was, feeling again, it was a good sign.

Katana sighed at hearing the story. She knew Myrddin probably as best as most did and she shook her head at the thought of him being gone.

It's simply .. She took a deep breath in and held a red rose that not only yesterday she was given by him.

He was a role model to us all.. She closed her eyes and tried to smile as the tears ran down her face. A true crew leader he was. Someone that anyone in Chi would have have been glad to look up to.

Slowly turns and glances down at the flower before she walks away.

Remus look stood by his friend Marcus and listend to the story with a grim look of disbelief on his face.  He couldn't imagine his bestfriend and crew leader being dead.  He had known this man for ages, and their bloodlines had gone way back.

Myrddin, you were my bestfriend, and my crew leader.  I will always remember you, you did so many great things, and we even started to build an empire!  The times spent with you in the family we built were great, and I can only hope we get another such option!

After saying his final words Remus looks at Katana and nods believe slowly walking away.

Marcus didn't see him from behind a nearby tree as he was trying to be quiet as not to disturb the Don in saying goodbye to Iestyn's father, Llywelyn ap Myrddin. Listening to Marcus and to the two that followed, Iestyn could only hope that someday he would be able to fill the shoes left by the sudden departure of his father. He knew from his father's journal that all three of the people who showed up here today were dear friends of his and the knowledge that not only was his father no longer in his life but he was also taken from his family and from Chicago. The amount of faith and trust that Marcus gave Llywelyn in the short time he was with us almost made Iestyn choke up. Whispering after the departing guests a "thank you", Iestyn walked away from his fathers grave. Eager to get on with his new life and live up to his fathers name.
