The chocolate chip cookies were criminally easy to make, but a dangerous crime for Luna's waistline. She fought the urge to grab one of the cookies she made from the silver platter as she sat across Fiorello. They were continuing on from their discussion the other day. Fiorello was focused on talking about what their business relationship would entail and some necessary paperwork that had to be signed by her. Meanwhile, Luna's eyes were zeroed in on the silver platter of delicious goodness. She knew had too much already. Belinda had scolded her enough about portion control. Luna's cheeks were getting chubbier. She thought it was cute though. Fiorello eyed her from across her office desk. He followed her gaze to the silver platter. A smirk played on his lips. He stopped his rambling completely and asked her as he put a finger to his chin. "You want a cookie?" Luna would soon find out that Fiorello was observant about many things. He could smell her hunger. And noticed that she had a particular scent to her. Red roses. Pink ones too. Luna caught him staring and she looked at him. Dumbstruck. "No, no it's okay. You were saying?" She said after a few minutes. But Fiorello would not take no for an answer. He reached for a cookie himself and hovered it over her lips. He stayed like that for longer than necessary. There was something really weird about what he was doing right in that moment. Sexual tension maybe? Oh, hell no. Luna raised an eyebrow. She knew the dangers of mixing business with pleasure. And she knew better than to take a bite of that cookie. No matter how yummy it tasted. She leaned back, declining his offer. Then she smiled, the kind of smile that would make anyone else want to see it more. Fiorello felt rejected, but he was reminded of his place. He was here to secure a deal, not to make a tryst. Fiorello awkwardly placed the cookie back down on the platter and he straightened his posture, like his professionalism almost slipped away. Was Luna wrong to assume that he was here for something more than a business deal? She sighed, putting a hand to her temple. "Uh, look. Maybe we should talk another time. My head hurts." This was not good. Nope. Fiorello frowned. He was oblivious to what she was thinking and could only see her saddened reaction. Disappointment filled his veins and he forced himself to stand up and leave her office. Worried that he might have done the wrong thing, or said the wrong thing. Fiorello nodded and cleared his throat. He adjusted his tie. "If that's what you want, Signora." Luna's chest tightened. What was this guy trying to do? Put her on a guilt trip? She nodded to him without looking him in the eyes. Those eyes. Something about those brown eyes that elicited dominance, over protectiveness and courage. Luna shook her head. She needed to speak to Belinda first and get her counsel. Luna heard his footsteps exit the room. He didn't intend to stomp out, but he did anyway and even slammed the door behind him. A dick and a half. Fiorello was just just about to leave the immediate vicinity but Luna stopped him in his tracks as she said bitterly, "and get Belinda to come here on your way out." Fiorello didn't look back. He head her though. He figured that Luna wanted to see him mad. But he wouldn't give her the reaction she wanted and instead decided to just walk away. "I hope that this meeting has not made you think less of me, Luna..." His voice trailed off as he went further away from her office and headed to the elevator doors. Luna twirled around in her office chair in a sulk. She mindlessly looked out her window. All these people in the world and he just -had- to choose her. Surely he was here for more than a business deal? Belinda's legs shuffled at the doorway and she was holding her clipboard as usual. "Luna? Fiorello bumped past me earlier and said you wanted to see me." Luna nodded as she spun around to face Belinda. She wanted to tell Belinda about what she thought of the guy, but she knew that she wouldn't like the sound of what was going to come out of her mouth next. "The guy is dangerous, Belinda. I don't know if I can help him." Belinda looked flabbergasted. Earlier she was looking at his documents and heavily approved of his active involvement in the company. "What are you saying, Luna? He's clean. I saw his file. You saw it too. And he can really help us with our finances, as well as our security services. Seems like a good guy too. Good intentions." Luna felt betrayed by Belinda's surprising enthusiasm for Fiorello. He really did make an impression on her. She shook her head. "No no no. I mean," Luna's expression scrunched up, "I don't know. He just gives me a weird vibe. Like he wants something more from me." |

Belinda was uncertain about what Luna was going on about. A little bit concerned too. She walked closer to her and sat across from Luna on the single beige chair. "What exactly did he do when you guys were talking?" Luna was not particularly keen on spilling the unnecessary details that started from a chocolate chip cookie. Fuck it. "Well first off he tried to feed me a cookie. If I didn't decline and say no, he would've force fed it to me." Belinda tried to suppress as a laugh as she leaned her back into the sofa. She looked at Luna like she had just seen a ghost. Meanwhile, Luna felt like she was confessing to a murder that she didn't commit. Belinda thought it wasn't all that serious, but she tried to look that way for the sake of trying to cheer up Luna. "Next time he comes, I'll be here in the room with you." Luna felt some relief wash over her, but it wasn't enough to reduce her worries. She decided to get a chai latte from the local cafe. Belinda was going to ask if she wanted company but Luna put a hand up and stopped her. "I'm fine, hun. I'll go alone. It's cold outside. Stay inside. I'll get you a coffee." Belinda didn't like her answer but she nodded anyway and stood up, leaving the office quietly. "At least get one of the guards to come with you." Luna looked at her, confused. She usually always went alone. She didn't need a guard either and truly believed that she could take care of herself. Little did she know that Fiorello hadn't even left the immediate area and was standing outside the building. He was hiding behind a corner as Luna stepped out of the double door entrance. A chai latte is just what she needs. Luna sighed as her heels made the clacking sound against the concrete. She had no idea why Fiorello was affecting her so much. However, she was aware of the fact that she had been deprived of attention from a male man - for quite a long time. She was getting worried for herself. Always busy with work and barely any time to get a love life. Up until now, Luna never saw the importance of settling down but for some reason Fiorello had revealed a new side of her. What other surprises did he have up his sleeve? She looked up and saw the cafe in the distance. Five minutes away from the office. See? No need for a guard. Luna finally reached the entrance to the cafe and felt the warm and friendly atmosphere immediately. At least here she can't be intimidated by Fio. Unlucky for her, he was still following her and stopped at the entrance just as she walked in. He gave second thoughts as to whether he should walk inside. But he had already crossed one line with her. Might as well cross all the lines and see what else Luna was hiding about herself. Fiorello had now taken in a new interest. Luna. All he knew was Luna. Kind of stalker-ish. But he was oblivious to that part. He only knew that he wanted to pursue her. Luna approached the front counter as her eyes scanned the menu. Then she smiled at the waiter. "Two chai lattes please." The waiter nodded, smiled and punched her order into the system. Then he told her the price. Before Luna could even respond, she was interrupted by none other than - Fiorello Caruso. "I'll pay." Luna slowly turned her head, looked up and stared. Wide eyed and everything. Luna looked around as her heart picked up speed. She grew anxious all of a sudden and the waiter was trying to get her attention. "Uh miss? Are you okay?" Luna swallowed. She stood frozen in her spot. Fiorello playfully slapped the side of her soft cheek and smiled. "Cat got your tongue, cutie?" Fiorello then nodded towards the waiter and pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket. "Keep the change, good man." Luna grabbed him by the side of his coat and pulled him to the side. Fiorello saw that she was furious. And it only his smile grow wider. Luna leaned her face closer to him and she whispered angrily. "Did you really just follow me here?" She pouted. Now Luna really wished she had taken Belinda with her. How many one on one confrontations would it take for this Fio guy to leave her alone? The situation escalated quickly when a guy accidentally pushed into Fio, causing for him to fall into Luna. She caught him just in time. Their faces were way too close now. Luna looked up as she parted her lips slightly. "I..." Fiorello held the small of her back with one hand, the other was brushing a strand of hair from her face. Their moment of cliche romance was stopped by the waiter that had taken their order. The waiter had an amused smile on his face but he hid it well. He would also tell it to his co workers later. 'Those kind of scenes only happen in the movies don't they?' The waiter would say. Luna went red as she the two chai lattes from the waiter. She thanked him. Her movements were stiff as she carried the chai lattes out of the cafe. Fiorello's hand still rested on her lower back as he escorted her out. Fiorello smiled at her. "Chai latte to wash down the chocolate chip cookie, eh?" |
