At THE MOON INC., the boardroom is tasteful in a corporate way. It was the main lounge for the workers in clean cut suits and skirts. Nothing too interesting that hung on the walls except for the huge whiteboard covered in messy handwriting and half-assed demand and supply graphs. Large glass entrance door as well as the two windows that were also made of glass. The walls that were painted a clean, beige colour - were soundproof. Luna's favourite part though? - The large, moon oil painting located on the wall behind whoever was sitting at the head of the conference table. That was Luna's favourite spot. She was the moon goddess, after all! She turned her wrist and looked down at her silver watch. Time was now close to eleven am. As expected, two men walk in with business suits and one lady dressed in her usual pencil skirt and maroon woollen blouse. Belinda wasn't present right at that moment. She was handling some stuff at the reception desk. Luna looked up just as she heard Marina's heels. "Morning everybody. Luke, Brad, Marina. As you all know, the agenda for this meeting will involve our progress so far. Luke, how are we doing with securing the Cason deal?" Luna tapped her pen against her mouth and looked at Luke curiously. He always responded with such poise and clarity that made Luna happy. There was a reason he was a part of the private company. She needed his quick ears and eyes. And mouth. Luke previously worked in a law firm, keeping track of the finances and closely communicating with the clients. She had put Luke on the Cason Reid deal. "That's all good, Luna. I contacted him few days ago." Luke pulled out a document from his stack of files and handed it to Luna, which she took after returning a slight nod. "The numbers are all there. So I'd say very good progress so far," Luke added as he smiled. Luna tries not to squeal excitedly. She smiled and gave the document back to Luke. Marina was calmly seated across Luke and she was checking something in her manilla folder. Luna grabbed her attention and smiled. "Marina?" She looked up instantly, tilted her head and smiled. "All good on my end as well..." Brad politely interjected the conversation and brought up an issue in his department. Apparently recruitment was getting harder each day, especially when there were many other competitive firms. Luna put her optimism to the test and smiled at Brad, shaking her head. "They will come when they come, Brad. Give it time." Brad admired Luna for being a glass half full kind of gal, but he still had a look of worry on his face. Luna added, "plus - we have to be real careful of who we hire for the company. Can't get someone who used to work in a laundromat to suddenly work in a crime business dealing with weapons and narcotics, right? We need real experience. Someone with hunger and driv-" A knock at the glass door made Luna pause. It was Belinda. The three others looked up as well, wondering what was up. Belinda never interrupted board meetings. "Urgent?" Luna asked as she took her glasses off. Belinda looked irritated, Luna wondered what for. Belinda shook her head as a frown was plastered on her face. "Someone keeps calling up the front desk and they won't say who they are or why they want to see you so badly. I said to them they need to book an appointment to see you, but they say that this is a life or death situation." Marina started to panic as Brad started to scratch the back of his head in confusion. Luna sensed that something was off. She suddenly felt sick in her stomach as she stood up and nodded to the three. "Well, we discussed what we needed to discuss. Thanks again everybody for attending the meeting. I'll put a post it note on the notice board for the next. Have a good rest of the day guys." Brad, Luke and Marina nodded as they all started to pack up their things and head out. Once Marina's heels were no longer resounding in the air, Belinda sat beside Luna. She was stuck on what to do. Belinda looked afraid. In a low voice, Luna said, "where is she now?" Staring into Luna's eyes, Belinda replied back. "Outside. The phone booth right outside our entrance doors, to be exact. But of course, to enter the building we have to get the guards to allow access first. And she needs some form of credentials, which she has none of." Curiosity picked at Luna's fingernails. She was clueless as to why someone was desperately calling for her. No one ever did that unless they were in danger. Luna had a little secret. No one had ever suspected, not even her closest friends besides Belinda and Leora, that Luna hid a secret torture chamber in her mansion. That was where Luna could practice her murderous cravings. It actually had been a long time since Luna used her finger slicer machine on someone. Luna answered Belinda. "I'm heading to the security room. We'll bring her in." If this girl was in danger, then Luna would give out her help. She was a charitable business woman, wasn't she? It's nothing personal, really - just business. |

Animosity flickered in Luna's eyes, making Belinda shudder inside in terror. "Are you sure? I mean - she might have something on her." Luna stopped her and said, "like a gun?" Belinda nodded. Last time something like this happened, one of the workers almost got shot. Belinda just wanted to make sure that Luna knew what she was doing. "We have strict security measures, don't we? I'm not allowing a repeat of the last incident." With that being said, Luna headed out of the boardroom with Belinda following behind her. The security room was located in isolation from all the other rooms. Only Luna could enter. Belinda could enter too, but only if Luna was busy. It wasn't a man that was in charge of the security room either. It was a girl. A really goth, emo looking girl with purple hair and a pierced lip. Luna found her working at a fruit market on the side street. She used to have a file on her. Private investigators were hard to get these days but Luna had good money. She used that trait to her advantage when she had approached this girl to work for her. Her name was Cynthia. She had no problem with doing the job - as long as she got paid. Luna never heard any complaints from her, except for when she was hungry. Luna made sure to include a mini bar in the security room. Complements of the company. Cynthia was a chill and funny person. Luna swiped her key card against the security door lock. A green light flashed above the door, and finally the door opened. Luna nodded as she stepped inside. It was always so damn dark in here except for the lights coming from her screens. Cynthia was chewing on a donut as she was typing away on the keyboard. She didn't look up when she said, "so uhhh what do I do with the girl outside? Just leave her there in the pouring rain? Kind of sad, honestly." Luna shook her head. She looked at one of the security cameras and noticed the appearance of the woman. "Hold on, zoom in on the girl would you please Cyn?" Cynthia quickly put her donut down. She cracked her neck. "Sure," her hands went to work on another keyboard. The camera zoomed in just enough so that Luna and Belinda could see her more clearly. She was standing close enough to the entrance that the camera could pick her up. She had long, brown hair that didn't look washed for days, and her clothes were rotten and dirty. Now Luna knew there was definitely something wrong. Maybe now she will have to use her torture chamber for something. When the lady turned around so that her face could be seen, Luna let out a quiet gasp. Cynthia even jumped in her seat too. Belinda was silent. The woman's face was covered in scratches. Dried up blood around them too. Her legs... Bruises all over. Luna grew more concerned as her eyes scanned the lady. "She looks like she's been fucking dragged through hell and back. We should call someone." That wouldn't be necessary or safe either. Someone could be on the hunt for her. The girl needed shelter - fast. "No. Don't. Open the gates. I'm coming down." Belinda looked at Cynthia as her jaw dropped. "I can smell your fear, Bel. It's okay. Luna seems to know what she's doing." Cynthia called out to Luna as she was already walking out of the security room. "They're open!" Her walking pace quickened as she saw the elevator. Her mind grew dark as she thought about what kind of situation this girl was in. She looked so beaten up and distressed. The elevator dinged and Luna stepped out. The girl was outside. Luna saw her face through the glass door. "They're open for you now." She was struggling to keep her head up. The lady entered. The doors closed. And then the unexpected happen. She fell to her feet and her loud cries echoed. "Please... Luna... Help me." Luna bent down to look the lady in her eyes. She held the lady in her arms and patted the back of her head. She smelled of burnt cigarettes and mud. "There, there. Who did this to you, love?" If Luna was going to help her, she wanted every image and detail. Luna was a slut for details. The woman whispered as she locked her sorrowful eyes onto Luna's gorgeous, brown orbs. "Cosa Nostra." Luna paused. Oh, fuck. Realization hit her like a truck when she realized this was the girl who was reported as a rogue last week. Luna had to think quick. "If I'm going to help you... It will have to be kept very private. Do you understand what I'm saying?" Luna said her words slowly, making sure every syllable was clearly sounded out. If any of the bosses from the italian mob caught Luna helping a rogue - she would be dead before she even realized she's in danger. Luan knew that very well. The lady didn't say anything more as Luna helped her to stand up. "We're going to find who did this to you, dear. And death for them will not be quick I assure you." A small, dim lit interrogation room was housed inside the company building. It was off limits for all associates. Only Luna and Belinda had access. Luna only had to click a button on her watch and she spoke out loud, "get me a wheelchair, or ambulance bed." On the other end, Belinda could hear and she replied back with a quick 'yes'. When Luna and the lady reached level 40, Belinda was guarding a wheelchair at the elevator doors. Luna gave a small smile to Belinda and told the lady to sit. "You look hurt. Medical attention is on the way." Luna noticed the sudden look of panic on her face. "Don't worry," Luna walked behind the lady and pushed the handles on the wheelchair as she wheeled her down a long hallway. "They aren't... well, how should I say this. They don't really work in a hospital. They work for me. If you know what I mean. Highly professional, I assure you." The lady's features softened. She held her head in her hands and started to sob softly. Belinda whispered to Luna, "you check if she's armed?" Luna nodded. She had made sure to feel around in her pockets when she was holding the lady in her arms. The interrogation door was at the end of the hallway and Luna signalled to Belinda to open it with the key around her neck. As Luna gently wheeled the lady in, she positioned her at the green table. The interrogation room didn't even look like a traditional interrogation room. It didn't look scary. It looked rather cozy. Luna smiled, and reached for her hand as she sat across from her. A gentle pat made the lady look up. "What is your name, dear?" |
