Erich had been waiting all day for his sister to come home. He had gone out and bought dough and apples to make strudel. It was not the same as their mother's but it would make for a very good dessert. he had fried up some Knockwurst and fixings to go with it. It was a simple dish, but one that reminded them of home, and also, one he couldn't mess up.

He had set the table already, and filled both his and her water glass already. He had a bottle of wine chilling in the icebox and there was a pair of beer bottles just waiting on the counter.

Tonight he had something serious to talk to his sister about and there could be no distractions. He had even turned the radio off, much to his own dismay. There was nothing like listening to the radio while you ate.
