The Coffee Shoppe Started by: Seraph on May 17, '19 04:29

Still trying to wake her brain up for the day as she rubbed her eyes, you had to wonder if she even washed her face. She did. You had to wonder if she even got much sleep. She did. She wasn't sure what the hell she was running on but was in desperate need of something. Intrigue was somehow managing to carry on with her morning 'errands' and somehow not, yet, got caught once. She knew she needed to make time to stop and actually begin her morning properly.

With being stuck in a bit of a ghost town of Detroit, she made her way down to the shopping districts to see what would catch her eye. It didn't take long until she spotted a place, The Coffee Shoppe. She could see people going in and out, all with the same needs no doubt. None of them was smiling, nor looked happy. Was as if they were lost souls.

Intrigue made her way over to the establishment, entered and walked up to the counter to have a read of the menu. Obviously, she needed a strong coffee but she was feeling somewhat peckish too.

"Good Morning, Welcome to The Coffee Shoppe" a voice said to Intrigue, making her look up to see the barista ready to serve her. Intrigue smiled back "It is a lovely morning" Intrigue replied to her before giving her order of the strongest Coffee they had and for a Ham & Cheese Croissant. She waited for her order to be ready as she paid up what she owed.

As she waited she took a look around pictures up on the wall and could tell the area was once bustling in families and businesses booming. 'It would be nice to see this again for the Motor City' Intrigue thought to herself as she was then called over to collect her order.

"Please come again," the barista said to Intrigue, "Thank you, I will. You take care now!" she replied as she picked up her coffee and croissant to leave the establishment.

Back in Detroit for a meeting, she had just a while longer before her flight home.  She remembered that nice little coffee shop from last, just a few blocks away.  Walking the few blocks, she pushed open the door to the shop.  Seeing the massive menu made her indecisive yet again, she took her time, those behind her getting impatient.

Fine, fine, I'm going.

Moving forward she places her order.

Can I get a white chocolate mocha and some pancakes?

Who cares if it was 5 pm, a girl likes her breakfast.  She found a table towards the back, a window seat always her favorite.  Grabbing a newspaper on her way by, she sat and waited for her order.

Tony walks in and orders himself a coffee with milk. He lights up a cigar he loves so much and takes a puff of it.

He sees Tutte sitting few tables away so he nods to him. When he finishes his coffee he orders another one and a pie.

When he finishes he pays for order and call himself a taxi.

Nexus was back home for a little bit, as he had some business that needed attending to. Leaving his apartment in a rush, he forgot to make his much needed morning coffee, luckily for him on his way to the HQ, there was a new coffee shop that he had been meaning to try.

It was still early morning, so the place wasn't too busy. He often preferred to start his days early, so he can relax for the latter part of the day.

Entering into the establishment, he walked up to the counter, where a lovely young barista gave him a welcome.

"Hi there, please can I grab a regular Cappuccino, with an extra shot, thanks"

The lady got the coffee ready fairly quickly, giving it to him in a takeaway cup. Taking a sip of his coffee, he handed over some loose change from his pocket, probably more than the cost of the coffee, but didn't really mind that since the coffee tasted great.

Jake ordered himself a coffee and donut, noticing that the former staff of Seraph continued to work dutifully to the very end. He smiled, respecting their dedication. It was something that he admired about people, those who continued the fight and never once stopped. He wished that he had that type of dedication, he could often see that the benefit from it and true beliefs were always something that he had never got due to his own father and his ways of the other desires.

"Thank you, please, do you know where I might find some entertainment?"

The cashier shook his head with a sad smile before one of the waitresses came over, handing him a small flyer that he took and would remember that he could bring Zavi here for some fun. Perhaps this would be where their first date would be held, all he knew was that he wanted to make sure that it was fun and exciting.

"Thank you, I hope to be back here sometime in the future!"

Jake let himself leave before taking a look back, he did wonder if he could come here again, the coffee was good and defintely had a good environment. It was peaceful, he liked it that way.

Vale was spending the day in Detroit, it was like a trip down memory lane for her. She spent some time in this city many moons ago now but it still felt like home. The sounds and the smells were all the same, it was all very familiar. Not much had changed, sure a couple of the buildings were different but that happens over time. Shops close down and new ones open up, it was just the way of life.

There was one place though that was still about, one of her favorites. Then again anything with coffee was a top tiered place, to her standards.

Vale pushed the door opened to the coffee shoppe, the instant aroma was tantalizing. It was probably one of the best smells in the world. The fresh roasted and brewed beans. It was like a gift from above. The smell instantly put a smile of her face, well made her smile a bit larger. There was only one issue, there was a line... Wasn't a big line but a line nonetheless.

She crossed her arms and tapped her foot on the floor, it caught the attention of the person in front of her. The woman stepped to the side, letting Vale take her place. Vale didn't say a word but nodded at her. Was about 30 seconds later that it was her turn in line.

"I'll take a Cappuccino, make it a large."

She took a couple dollars out of pocket and placed it on the counter.

"The woman behind me, her order is on me."

The cashier gave her a nod and went off to make her drink.

After having his best dinner this weel he knows felt to have a coffee to drink before getting bust with his job here in Detroit, he pinpointed the Coffee House and were glad to get in there since he knew that here it was always newly brewed coffee to drink.

He gets his coffee and takes a sip and just enjoy it, he looks around and see some well-known figures at the back of the café, he nods to them and then slowly drinks up the rest of his coffee, pays up and walks out to do some real manly work for a while in the streets of Detroit.

The meeting place was around here somewhere. Hawkeye searched the neighborhood for the coffee place that Vale mentioned. Was it called the coffee house or coffee shop. The only thing he was sure of was that it wasn't a starbucks. He finally found the place, The Coffee Shoppe, and he  stepped inside.

He found Vale sitting in a corner booth looking out the window. There weren't too many people around, must be all the chaos in the city that was keeping the customers away. He made his way towards her table and pulled up a chair before sitting down.

"Hi Valencia ... Vale , sorry I'm a tad late. This place was not easy to find." He was about to brief her on the situation when the waitress came over.

"What may I get for you sir?" the waitress asked quietly.

Hawkeye scanned the menu quickly and found something that interested him. "I'll have the oreo cookie shake and some sausages thanks." he replied and the waitress walked away after writing down his order.

"Have you ordered already" he asked Vale and she nodded. "So I was about to give you the sitrep," he lowered his voice and continued "It's not looking good in Bricktown. The Detroit gang has a strong presence there. I found out that their leader is holed up in one of the mansions but its heavily guarded. As for 12th Street and Corktown, the coalition forces are fighting hard and pushing them back."

He placed both hands on the table and looked directly at her, "I'm used to gathering intel on the enemy. Don't get me wrong, I can take them on in a direct fight but I'm more suited for missions requiring stealth. Do I have any new orders boss," he emphasized the last word. He still couldn't come to terms with the fact that he was working for a bootleg baroness.

Tom walked into The Coffee Shoppe in dire need of a coffee. He walked in and went to the counter. Tom ordered a Cappuccino and took it outside to sit on the patio. He sparked a smoke and took some important business calls. His Cappuccino was so good he felt the need to order another one. As he was doing so, he struck up a conversation with the barista, she was very nice and made one of those fancy designs in the foam. Tom thanked the barista and went back outside to enjoy another cigarette.

Xanxus had recently returned from the chigago, it had been a short visit to take care of a few people that were a global threat. He found that he missed the taste of his local cuisine after visiting a business that served breakfast. He sat in the corner of the business, seated in a semi circular couch. Xanxus knew he was a handsome man, his bright green eyes often attracted people, so he was not surprised when a waitress began to flirt with him. He wanted to keep it simple, so he ordered a cup of tea with some eggs and bacon.

He commented the waitress on her good figure when she returned with his food. Xanxus gave her his best smile. He ate the meal in silence as he read the newspaper he laid out on the table. When he was done, he left the money on the table as well as a tip for the waitress.

Vale sat there in that corner booth just sipping on her cappuccino, the real reason she was in Detroit was to help the esteemed members of the mob out here rid their streets of the scum that have tried to take over all the major cities. They came in quick and have been quite a nuisance. Having rid Philadelphia of the scum, Vale took flight to Detroit do help do her part out there.

She had Hawkeye out in the streets scouting everything out. He was still quite new to her operation but was quite good at getting intelligence from the opposing side. He was quite stealthy, a skill that can't be taught.

She was in the middle of a sip when Hawkeye slid into her table to give her the rundown on what had been going on. Listening intently Vale, finished her sip and placed the cup down before responding.

"We need to hit their protection, not sure how they obtained so much protection but in order for us to be able to hit them we need to shave some of their bodyguards down. You're quite the stealthy guy, I don't see why this wouldn't be a hard task."

She checked over her shoulder, to make sure no one was eavesdropping in on their conversation.

"I've heard their numbers are thinning, we do this right we could push them out of Detroit by the morning."

Hawkeye listened carefully and nodded along for he knew that getting rid off the bodyguards were key. Before he could continue, the waitress reappeared with his order. She placed a tall glass of oreo shake and a plate of sausages in front of him. He thanked her and gave her a warm smile. Then he grabbed a fork and bit into a couple of sausages and drank some of the sweet liquid to wash it all down.

"I thought the waitresses wore those cute maid outfits during this time but guess I was wrong," he blurted out but quickly left the subject alone when he saw the disapproving look on Valencia's face.

"So about this absurd amount of protection," he remarked in between bites "I get a feeling that some big fish is financing them. If I find out anything more about this, I will let you know Vale."

After finishing his plate of food and his drink, he stood up and placed a few bills on the table. " I'll get back to work now and I will see if I can give you a clear shot at the gang leader. Can't promise anything though." He looked around the place and spotted the waitress smiling at him. Pulling out a couple more bills, he added them to the previous pile. "Extra tip for the waitress, she is kinda cute don't you think." With that he walked towards the exit and left the shop, ready to rejoin the fight.

Knowing that he would be spending hours in the new task given to him, Doc decided to bring his thermos.
“Black coffee, fill this lady up.” He smiled at the owner. He now had bag of bagels, then he will have a thermo filled with coffee. He has a carton of cigarettes. He was ready for an all nighter. It would be great if he had a lady with him. But he would surely lose focus and he didn’t want to botch this simple task.
“Hmmm, some alcohol wouldn’t hurt.” Doc then takes the filled thermos and hands his payment. He then walks out looking for a liquor store.
“Wouldn’t hurt to spike this coffee.”

Lux's bagel had already disappeared into nothingness by the time she had made it to The Coffee Shoppe. But here too there was quite some foot-traffic, so she had to investigate it to make sure no secret meetings or parties were going on here. After a small and not very thorough investigation to ensure she didn't make a fool of herself, Lux knew there was sadly no new leads here. Nonetheless, she knew she had to get something to not make any of the fellow customers suspicious.

When seeing the menu alongside the house specials menu, Lux simply could not resist the house specials. Her mother always did say she was a very special child. She ordered the befabled oreo cookie shake, knowing it would help quench her thirst that the bagel had bestowed upon her. After taking a sip, she remembered she had no time to waste, she had to take the shoppe's cuppe with her on her journey. Perhaps she would name it, or perhaps it would end up in the trash when she had finished her shake.

The streets of Detroit had been packed with cars. Traffic was at an all time high. It was early in the morning when Xanxus parked his Chrysler Imperial outside the Coffee shop. The streets were filled with people who were busily making their way to work.

Their was a small chime when Xanxus entered the shop. The Coffee shop was filled with the arouma of not just coffee but various different types. It brought a smile to Xanxus face and filled him with a feeling of euphoria as he remembered how the taste of his mother's cooking.

When the food that he ordered arrived Xanxus would feel the saliva almost dripping out of his mouth. His stomach grumbled and he quicken digged into his meal of eggs, toast and sausages with a hot cup of tea to drown it all down.

Just like before, he paid for his meal after and told the waitress to give the chef his compliments. He left the coffee shop and hoped to return again tomorrow for another wonderful breakfast.

She was back again, this place had some pretty good coffee.  She had quite a bit more time, decided to grab breakfast and a quiet table.  Heading to the counter, she took forever looking over the menu.

How about a cappuccino and pancakes?

Her eyes wandered to the chocolate cake, she forced herself to say no.

That will be it.

She scanned the room for a table in a decent spot.

I always liked a place where I could run in and get a quick coffee when I was hard at work for the boss.  Trying new and quaint places was something that I liked doing as I travelled all over the country for the boss.

I walk in and Monique immediately catches my attention.  I nod and go over and order a coffee and a ham and cheese croissant to go so I can get back out and earn.
