She was one of the oldest passengers on the large ship with fortuneseekers that arrived on Ellis Island. And in fact, she was the eldest of passengers that was to embark alive.

Then again.., MrsMalaprop told herself, ..that idiot Mr. Gregory should not have tried to fixate that poker game.

It had been a long haul all the way from Southampton, and MrsMalaprop took a deep breath as she looked at the majestic lady, who was standing proudly on the banks of the river.
As the ship was mooring, MrsMalaprop was clearly impressed and told a young lady next to her
I had already heard about the abearance of The Statue of Liberty.. But seeing it, I must be admitted that was even more impressionist.

She looked down from the upper deck as the bridge came down, and saw how people were pushing eachother away for a front line position to get through to the immigration office as soon as they could. MrsMalaprop smiled, as she had great fun in watching people that were rushing like ants to be the first to be able to start waiting later on. Only when a big part of the docks in front of the office was cleared of people, MrsMalaprop made her way to the lower deck and calmly disembarked to set foot on shore and walk towards the immigration office.
She was this calm as she had the custom's part arranged. She had been warned of the immigrant quota per nation and therefore pre-arranged herself a second citizenship of Northern Rhodesia before she embarked in Southern England, despite her not ever having set foot on African soil.

Immigration went smoothly, although the officer had frowned upon her answering the standard question on where she was going with
I am going to the pest of the countryside

Anyway, she got through, and once she passed, she knew now the true challenge came, as she definitely felt she was too old to start to learn how to use airplanes for transportation.

How on earth am I going to read Seattle..?

Back when she was in England, she had gotten in touch with the lovely Luna, who had offered her a place to come to, when she would arrive in the land of endless opportunities. Luna even named her 'special' after just a couple of exchanged letters. She mumbled

Would Luna have sent someone to pick me up..? Or at least sent a massageboy to give me directions on how to get to Birdperson's Headquarters?

For a moment she thought she recognized someone that matched the description Luna gave her of Leora in the crowd of people, but as soon as she had spotted her, she lost her face in the bustling crowd again. After a small pause, she decided to move on to the ticketbooth for buses to ask for a ticket to Philadelphia. The lady in the booth looked seriously at her, saying

You haven't heard what happened in Philadelphia the last couple of days..?

MrsMalaprop had not, and now got a little worried.. She decided to sit down on her suitcase and wait. She was feeling to get a bit hopeless, but not hopeless enough yet to contact Sinfest..

Luna had mentioned that her new associate was in town. She was soft and sweet and went by the name of Mrs. Mallowprop (MrsMalaprop). The pier was crowded with people as Leora looked for the woman. She carried with her a rectangular piece of cardboard with a marshmallow drawn on it. She hoped that it would attract the lady's attention, but apparently, the pier was just too crowded.

She eventually found a curious old lady. When she breathed, she also started coughing. Leora thought that she had a heart attack and was about to die. When she rushed for her, the lady started joking with liveliness, "Must have caught myself a laugh." The lady cackled, patted Leora's arm, shooed her away or motioned her to move forward. Sometimes, it was hard to know with the lady.

"What do you think of the Big Chapel so far, Mrs. Mallowprop," she asked.

As she was catching her breath, she was approached by a lady carrying a banana and a piece of cardboard. MrsMalaprop wondered why she was carrying those, until she heard the young woman ask what her opinion was of the big chapel.. MrsMalaprop gave her the most confuse look she could come up with. She shook her head and stared in front of her..

I am sorry, my dear, that obsoletely makes no sense! I just came through the integration office and tried to a ticker for a bus to Philadelphia, but it seems like I am struck here..

She paused.. waited for some moments, then re-inspected the woman.. Looking at her face, MrsMalaprop calmly asked

I could be wrong, but if I am not Miss Taken, you must be Leora..?

Slowly, a grin appeared on MrsMalaprop's face

Out of all possibilities, this is the best scene I could have hoped for!
So, what is the plan? How am I to reach BirdPerson's headquakers overland?

Leora grinned. Mrs. Mallowprop seemed like an interesting person, but the main reason she came all the way to the Big Chapel was to get an excuse to ride her car. Leora excitedly beckoned Mrs. Mallowprop to follow her. They reached an alleyway where a butler was guarding a 1937 Jaguar roadster. Most of the sunlight was blocked by the buildings in the alleyway, but the car still somehow managed to shine.

"What do you think? Ain't she a beaut?" Leora asked but not really caring for the reply. The car matched her as far as she was concerned. "If you please." The butler gave a subservient smile and started getting Mrs. Mallowprop's baggages. He then marched away as if wanting the two ladies to be alone on this trip.

"I like to drive fast," she declared as she got into the driver's seat and fastened her seat belt.
