The Greek Cafe

Sera was impressed with the business she receives from Coffee Shoppe. She felt the time was right to try her hand at a restaurant.  Sera finds a nice little restaurant for sale in the heart of downtown Detroit. The former restaurant uses to be an Indian one but was already in great condition. Sera buys it and waste no time redecorating it giving it an authentic Greek makeover. Sera then hires a small staff to keep things running smoothly. Happy with the final touches

Tom had heard nothing but great things about Chef Uriah and The Greek Cafe. It was about time he brought his family to try it out. The family didn't have to look at the menu too long before they knew what they wanted. Etheria came to the table to take the families large order.

"For starters we'll have two orders of Mediterranean Lamb Kafta and an order of Moussaka. My lovely daughter would also like a Fasolada. We'll take two Choriatiki's and I believe that is it for the starters. Moving onto sides we'll have a Greek Potato Casserole, two sides of Seasoned Asparagus, and a Vegetable Couscous.  For our main I will have a Pastitsio, my wife will have an order of Santorini Shrimp, my son a Lamb Burger and my daughter a Makaronia me Kima. I think that's all for food at the moment, however, I'll take a Metaxa on the rocks and please bring my wife a bottle of your finest white wine."

The family waited for 10 minutes before the starters began to be brought to the table. It wasn't long before the whole table began to look like it was serving a feast. Everything was absolutely delicious and everyone was happy. Etheria came back to the table and asked about dessert.

"Ah, yes! Two Loukoumades and a Baklava, please! You may also bring me the bill."

Satisfied with everything, Tom paid the bill and gathered his family. He said thank you to Chef Uriah for his delicious food and noted he would be sure to tell all his clients in the area about his experience he enjoyed with his family at The Greek Cafe.

Sera was very protective of her son who was a very happy toddler. He was a mixture of both of his parents but he was looking like his dad more so every day. With a little coaxing Irma gets Sera to get out the house and spend a little time for herself.

Sera knew Irma was right as she was cruising down the street but where would she go. Everything was still foreign to her. She never really took the time to get more situated with her surroundings. Sera thought about going to the coffee shop but decided against it.

Sera decides to go to The Greek Café. She was still allowing it to run even though business was not as great as the coffee shop.  It was her hope that others would discover how wonderful Greek cuisine is.

A few minutes later she walks in the café, to her surprise it was half full. Lyric and Sybil are happy to see her as they escort her to a table.  Corydon, Etheria, and Parris all stop by her table to say hi.

Corydon delightfully takes Sera order which was Keftethes to start, Pastitsio with Sera Greek Salad, desert wise Loukoumades and drink wise Ouzo. What she didn’t eat she would take home and let LiL M try some.

As Sera waits she blushes at the positive remarks about her white hair and dark emerald green eyes.  It felt weird but good at the same time.

The door opens and Davis walks in and awaits to be seated. He then changes his mind and asks for a spiced gyro to go. He seems in a hurry. He has a lot in his mind. He is handed his order after paying and leaves immediately into the street

Zavia was having lunch with Mayor Murphy at The Greek Cafe, she was dressed in a nice flower print knot dress with matching pumps and Mayor Murphy was dressed in one of his signature suits, this time he was in a gray one. His security team was dressed in suits as well and blended quietly in the background, a few were dining as well. The two was sitting eating and discussing the formation of the Detroit Housing Commission.  One of the first official public housing in the works was The Sheridan Place which would consist of 409 units. Construction was over halfway done.

Mayor Murphy and Zavi at the moment were discussing requirements and structuring. Zavi felt honored to be a part of something that would keep on keeping on.  One of the servers come up to see if they needed anything else.

Report Post Tip

Mayor Murphy leftover ten minutes ago as Zavi was making her way out of the café. Outside was a young girl around nine years old waiting for her.

“Excuse me miss, may I have a word with you?”

Zavi gesture for the young girl to come forward.

“Thank you for giving me a few minutes of your time. My name is Jolene”

“You welcome, sweetheart, Jolene is a beautiful name”

“Thank you again”

Zavi and Jolene have a small little chit chat.  Due to not having enough time, Zavi invites her to come to hang out with her for a day, next week. Jolene is delighted with the offer.  Zavi gives Jolene her number and a few dollars to go treat herself. Afterward, Zavi heads to The Sheridan Place to see the progression in person.

The next day as Nomi was just about to check out of her room there is a knock on the door. She figures it was room service or housekeeping.  Opening the door, stood a beautiful woman of middle eastern heritage, the woman flashes her a smile.

“Hello, miss, my name is Saida Amoreti and I am here to assist you”

Nomi was clueless, everything was happening quickly.  Looking Saida over Nomi could tell that she was sincere so she invites her in.

“Please come in Ms. Amoreti, it is a pleasure to meet you.”

Nomi steps to the side and Saida comes inside. Shutting the door back up Nomi turns her attention to Saida.

“Your predecessor Zavia who is on her way to Japan as we speak was looking forward to your arrival, she left you a little starting cash to help you on your journey”

Nomi looks at Saida with confusion all over her face

“Whoa…I thought she was amongst the dead?”

Saida laughs at Nomi expression, it clears she was innocent

“No dear, that was a look-alike that took the bullet”

Nomi lets her words soak in

“Oh…”

“But anyways dear this is not about her; I am just letting you know. “

“Um…one question…. how did she know?”

“I am sorry not part of my orders to disclose that, all you need to know is I am here to help you learn the ropes”

“Ok, I can respect that”

“Good, grabs your things we going to take a field trip. “

Saida is about to head out the door when she does a double-take at Nomi features.

“Let’s go to the bathroom first”

Nomi shows Saida the bathroom, inside it, Saida fixes Nomi hair covering up her ears.  Saida knew if she wasn’t careful, Nomi would be a target for sex traffickers with her unique features.

Afterward, the two take a flight to Detroit.

On arrival the two go get a bite to eat at The Greek Café, Saida figures it would help Nomi with her homesickness,  the two had Youvetsi with Moussaka and for desert Avani and drink wise Tea.

During the meal, Saida was filling Nomi in on various little things she needed to know.

Aleks never visited a Greek Cafe so this time he thought he should fix that problem and headed to Greek Cafe. Entered the place he looked around, didnt saw any suspicious or familiar faces, he sat down. Waitress came and he ordered himself a coffee with sugar and milk. Didnt wanted to eat yet, was too early for him. He lighted up a cigarette. Got his coffee, thanked the waitress and enjoyed himself. It was a beautiful place and serving was perfect. Smoked few more cigarettes and read some newspapers he finally paid for his order and walked outside.

I glanced up from my notes and stared at the clock. This seminar was boring, and the speaker was just rambling. So far, I realize I was not a fan of workshops; I was glad that after another thirty minutes or so that the seminar was finally over.

I politely mingle with the speaker and other attendees afterward for a few minutes. I learned the importance of having good people skills and making all kinds of connections.

Grabbing my tote bag, I hurry into the ladies’ bathroom to change. I wasn’t a fan of a lot of the fashion out. A lot of it was very uncomfortable, especially in cold weather.

I discovered in a thrift store jeans and oversized shirts and sweats.  Since then, it was what I love to wear, especially in the cold.
Today it was no different, tore up jeans, an oversized sweatshirt with Blessed on it and a pair of combat boots, no makeup, and my thick hair was flowing freely. I didn’t feel like fooling with it much.

Humming as I exit the bathroom, I could care less about the dirty looks or the mumbling that went on. If folks wanted to be miserable, then it was on them.

The seminar drained my energy a little, and I found myself hungry for something different.  I pick up a newspaper at the newsstand outside of the building and see an advertisement for The Greek Café and decides to stop in.

On arrival, the café had a decent number of diners in the house.  Lyric, one of the greeters, knew me by name, which was slightly weird, but I shrugged it off. He was a younger man with a fun-loving smile that was contagious. It was a smile that only a few knew how to embrace.
Lyric escorts me to a lovely table in the middle section; he leaves me a menu and tells me one of the servers will come in like five minutes.

Meanwhile, unknown to Sera, Meta and Seth were quietly following her from a distance. Watching her bloom and progress as the beautiful purple rose she was. One day they would present her with the rose when the time was right. They knew who she was but had strict orders to follow concerning the situation.

Inside, Sera takes one of the glasses of pineapple juice and drinks it down midway.  Uriah stares at her gently.

"You are glowing, sweetheart; how have you been?"

Sera pause and realize that lately, the people she came in contact with felt like De Ja Vu, and she had special bonds with them.

"I have been thriving. No grievances"

Uriah reaches out and squeezes one of her hands. "(beep)"

Sera scowls as she finished her juice; Uriah waves over Corydon for a refill.

"Um, it sounds familiar…. who is that?"

"That is your birth name?"

"Ohhh…."

"It was you who said… Without direction, there can be no life, but without Khaos…"

Sera chimes in and finishes the saying

"Nothing will evolve forward. Good and Evil, Light and Darkness, Yin and the Yang...Transformation, and Solidity"

Uriah's face lights up.

"Exactly, it was no mistake with you coming here. You own this place."

"Hmm, how? I don't understand; I don't remember even being here."

"II will all make sense, In due time."

Sera nods. Corydon refills her glass with pineapple juice; Sera craves an Oreo milkshake, Corydon hurries to fill her request.

Uriah smiles delightfully at Sera's mannerisms; he excuses himself to cook one of Sera's favorite dishes.

Report Post Tip

Uriah went and worked his magic; what he brought to Sera's table was fit for a queen.

He brought her Keftedes to start with a Greek Salad.  Next, a small bowl of Stifado, and for the main course, he got her Santorini Shrimp.

Sera was amazed; she was unsure if she would make it to the Avani, which was desert.  She turned down another Oreo cookie milkshake and settles for Retsina instead.

Uriah couldn't stay and keep her company; people were off work and heading in for dinner. But he promises to keep in touch more.

After he leaves, Sera's mind is back on what he said earlier. (beep) was a beautiful name indeed, and just maybe the doctors she saw were wrong, and there was somebody out there who could help with her amnesia.

Happily, she turns her attention more to her meal, savoring it.

Sera made a point to call and give everybody a heads up on Mister Dino's possible arrival.

Well, her intuition was on point, Parris mused as she waits for Mister Dino's order.

A few minutes later, Parris takes Mister Dino's order to his table with a smile on her face.

She sets it down before him with such grace.

"There you go, sir. I hope you enjoy it. I will check on you in a few.

Parris quietly dismisses herself to check on the other diners.
