So following weeks and months of fairly regular wars, I've become weary of getting killed because I hit the street sleeping after a take down. This is a suggestion that I hope will discourage the mass slaughter of innocent associates following a take-down. Basically my suggestion is that once the CL is killed the whole crew drops and gets 24 hour protection - obviously voided upon a shot being taken, joining a crew or an HQ being purchased. Sounds severe, right? Hear me out. It would allow for a clean removal of the family head, allowing the rest of the family to survive whilst not precluding a targeted removal of key crew members or the attacked crew's ability to fight back. It would also allow for a completely scorched earth policy, provided the hit squad was suitably large and proficient. It would require hit squads like there used to be, with co-ordination and co-operation instead of the "we're at war, hide behind our forts in *CITY*" mass mail. Finally, if you're being taken down scorched earth, made+ don't get the chance to weasel out to a foreign city cos they'll be the first tier targets. You accepted the position, you benefited from it and you made the Virgin Mary pledge. Blood in, blood out baby! The cons? - This would slow down take-downs and prolong wars? First waves usually happen in the space of about 90 seconds. Kill the CL on the 91st second, or faster if you've removed everyone you wanted to. - 24 hours protection is too long? Pro orders are generally for a week, and the hit squad should have eliminated all threats by the time the crew drops, so we're only talking about 24 hours protection for the members who pose no threat - generally speaking, the uninitiated. - But I want to remove a whole crew? Nobody is stopping anyone from completely annihilating every member of any crew, you just open yourself to the CL being able to shoot at you whilst you do that. - Well, if there was a wackback or a force fail, then your scorched earth attack kinda ends there? If a scorched earth is required, just kill the rest of the first wave then the CL last. Plan goes ahead, the pro'd dude drops - mop him up later. He's already pro'd for 4 hours anyway, chances are he's gonna fight and void his 24 hour pro, but if not, send out a mail then 24 hours later, he's popped. - But this requires more people to be involved, and more people being involved increases the risk of the enemy finding out your coup? Find more trustworthy hitters. - But I don't have enough hitters to remove everyone I want to remove? Well, if you want to remove someone that nobody else wants gone, are you maybe the problem? - I'm worried about my enemy's alliances reacting and removing me? See above. - I'm concerned that my crew might shoot me for the protection if X, Y or Z happens? If you're a good CL, your family wouldn't mount a coup. If they do, kinda speaks volumes brah. - Why should all made+ be punished if someone just wants to piss off the CL? If someone wants to piss off your CL, all the made+ would be killed regardless, this just discourages the mass slaughter of >30 day old accounts outside of positions of power. - But if someone set up as a war auth, that would give them 24 hours of pro'd proers, which would draw out wars? It would be up to the aggressors to eliminate anyone suspected of being inclined to set up, which is no different from now. Also, is giving the underdog an advantage really a bad thing? The aggressor had the advantage when they attacked initially. Okay, that's enough trying to pre-empt the oppositions to this suggstion. Have at it. |

This is a -1 for me. I have two main reasons I feel this way.
1. Your idea is to protect the "innocent" members of the crew that's being attacked, right? In a lot of your responses to opposition you say things like "if you want to take out everyone, just play this way" or "just get your people to do it the way you tell them to." I'm paraphrasing, of course. Well, I would put that right back to you. If you want your guys to just take out the "important" players, then tell your shooters who to hit and who to not hit. Other crews shouldn't HAVE to do it your way just because that's what you like. They should have the option, of course, but don't they already have the option? 2. As someone who never has a position of power, my RP immersion is broken when I have to go between crews constantly. I came up with one leader, she died, moved to another leader in a different city, no longer a boss or even made, then he died. Now I'm back to my first city with a third leader. How does that make any sense from an RP standpoint? If I worked for family A and that family was decapitated, I seriously doubt I'd be welcome in Family B, much less Family C...
Thanks for taking the time to make the suggestion. I think it could be an interesting way for wars to be waged, but I don't think it should be compulsory; rather it should be optional. |

You're welcome to your opinion, Jonny, but I'd just like to respond to your points briefly: - 1 - This seems phrased in such a way that when I answer with the obvious answer of "I don't have hitters", the retort I'll get is "exactly, rank up and do something about it", and if that was the direction, well it's kinda hard when you can't get passed 30 days because hitters are like piranhas around a take down. 5 outta the last 6 times I've been killed (within the past 4 months or so) was when I was offline and no threat. 2 - If you were so inclined, I'm sure you could have found some proers and attempted to avenge your fallen crew. The fact that you didn't isn't down to game politics or mechanics. My suggestion does not hinder anyones ability to set up and rogue, much the opposite actually - it leaves the decision of who dies firmly in the hands of the attacking side and protects anyone left alive who has the grapes to have a go. Essentially my suggestion is an attempt to quell the mad bloodlust surrounding a takedown, not to affect the takedown itself. I'm more than happy to spitball with people though if it helps stop the genocide of accounts under the age of 30 days whenever theres a scuffle, because I would agree the idea isn't completely fleshed out. |

Your suggestion is not a solution to the overall problems. Under 30 days old dying is a ways and means of preventing protection. The solution is how the ranking system operates in the Mafia. The Leader is popped, their most trusted steps up automatically. If the RH is popped before the leader, the capo steps up automatically. The mafia has what we call a consigliere. And that rank is here as it should be, but it is not put to use. And I have no idea what the hell a LH is other then a boost in the gun. Beings my opinion of a solution will never happen, the only solution is beat them at their own game. |

I know that >30days are used as proers, and I know there's a hierarchical structure to a mafia family. You say my suggestion doesn't solve the problem? I don't think you fully understand the suggestion because I don't see how 24 hours protection doesn't solve the problem of >30 day associates being killed in their sleep. Nevertheless, I'm tired of dying. I had a thought that may have prevented that continued attitude towards the youngest members of our families, but I'm now tired of having to explain myself to people who appear to have skim-read my suggestion, so fuck it, I'm out. Later. |

If you are tired of dying, then kill before you die. |
