"No no, please. Good whiskey isn't all that good without good company, right?"

She smiled took another small sip as he walked further into the room.

"I realized that I haven't thanked you yet, for everything. I owe someone some new carpet, though."

Emily vaguely recalled the time between being shot and arriving at the apartment, but pieces and parts were coming together.

"That med bag you had- belonged to the doctor you were talking about?  Pretty smart to have a doctor on staff in this business. I think you're the only one I know to have such a luxury."

"Not my first move to be honest, but as soon as I knew she was one of us I wanted to bring her in. She is good people and she has helped us through a lot, not just with this, but in life."

He poured himself a glass of whiskey and sat in the chair opposite the couch.

"I forgot to mention, there's some clothes in the closet in the bedroom, not much that will fit you, but I got a bunch of stuff in all shapes and sizes. You never know who might need something or when."

He took a sip and swirled the liquid around.

"So, what do you want to talk about first?"

Emily couldn't help but chuckle slightly.

"Well, Don Mastrosimone, my existence is pretty much up in the air at this point. I'm on borrowed time until this is all straightened out, so I have a lot of room to imagine. You said you had some thoughts about business? Let's pretend all this mess is behind me. What kind of business you have in mind?"

Tipping her head back, she finished the whiskey and sat the glass down on the coffee table. Whiskey was a better painkiller than most pills- sometimes.

Billy refilled both glasses and slid Emily's over to her.

"From what I understand the state of Nevada has passed certain laws that allow for a very old trade to be conducted in the state. You mentioned something about being an escort. You wouldn't happen to know anything about being a madame would you?"

He let the question hang in the air. He wanted to see if she would bite. He knew he couldn't very well run a place like that, especially not from Detroit. But Emily was a good looking woman, and she had been in the business so she would know what to expect. It seemed like a good shot at a lucrative business.

One of Emily's eyebrows arched quizzically, and she grinned a little as she retook the glass from the table.

"It's definitely a field I have experience in. As far as being a madame, it depends on just how much of a reputable business you intend to own. If we're talking high-end escorts and high-paying clients, I'm your girl. Hell, I've even got the place for it. But, if you're talking about a lower-end sort of place, I'm not so sure."

She took a sip of the freshly poured glass, pausing a moment to really let the flavor stir around the back of her mouth before swallowing, all while peering at Billy.

"You seem like a man who prefers things nicer, though. I don't take you for a low-end sort of business man."

Bill shrugged.

"I'm not opposed to a lower end sort of thing, you can certainly still make money that way."

He took a sip of his whiskey.

"But you're right. Higher end clients, higher end girls. The sort of place that you could take a family to if they didn't know what it was for, if you catch my meaning?"

That got a hearty chuckle from Emily.

"Right. Frankly, in the long run, you are saving yourself a lot more money running an escort service than a whore house. The girls work harder to maintain their reputations and yours, and they're is much less turnover. Not to mention much less trouble with the authorities. Oh, and the health department."

The more she talked about the idea, the more she liked it. Emily had many good times working for Stella. It had been the entire rain she'd become such a valuable information resource.

Billy nodded as he listened and took another sip of whiskey.

"Well, if you know how to do it. I've got the money to start one. Call it whatever you want, and you can be in charge. You can take 30% of everything too if you're agreeable to that."

He held one finger up.

"There's just one problem, oh and one stipulation I have. The problem is, I don't own anything in Vegas right now, so we would need to also buy a building, or some property. The stipulation is, I am allowed in when I want and will go where I want and talk to who I want. I promise you, I will take every single girl back to my office at least once, and I will not sleep with any of them. Just talk. You have my word on that, and if I ever break it, that's how you know it isn't me that's there."

Emily nodded easily, smiling a bit.

"Those terms I can easily a agree to. I know how to work the girls and run the business. After tonight's action, I don't think I need to worry about you taking advantage of the staff at all. Oh, and as for the building, I can handle that. The mansion that my old agency was in is now bank owned. It needs some renovation, but I'd already planned on trying ty but it when my little problem is solved. Would you be willing to fund the renovations if I purchase the building?"

Her side was beginning to throb again. She tipped back the drink and finished it, placing the glass back on the small table.

Billy nodded.

"Of course."

He smiled as he finished his drink and then extended his hand to shake Emily's. One more source of income, one more friend, today was setting out to be a pretty good day.
