Everybody hurried into the doors of the theatre, as soft classic music played from the loud-speakers. The play was scheduled to begin in 5 minutes, but the star-actor was missing. The clueless audience took their seats as the music cut & the lights dimmed. Scurrying and running could be heard from the other side of the curtain, but no one thought much of it. In reality the backstage was full of chaos, as they searched for their key actor. “Where the hell is Masquerade?! That irresponsible punk is fired if he misses another one!” The director with a completely red face stomped around, cursing and yelling. Out of nowhere Masquerade waltzed through the door as if nothing happened, dressed in his costume. “Let’s start this play, eh?” Masquerade said, as he walked onto the stage. In one quick motion the curtains raised, and the light triggered. There on the stage stood Masquerade, seeming almost mystical as the spotlight shined over him. He looked around at the intrigued faces staring at him. “Welcome, to ‘Le Fantôme de l'Opéra’, a story of love, obsession, and death. But guess what? I'm going to be 'Le Fantôme des le Fantôme de l'Opéra.' Haha, I'm going to crash the play to tell you a little story about me, instead of this idiotic play.” The director behind stage panicked, not knowing what to do. “As a boy, I always wanted to be a famous actor! It was my one dream in life, and as I reached my teen years, my legacy of being a big-time actor unfolded before me. It seemed to be my destined career. I was offered my first acting job at 17, after a big-shot saw my performance in a school play. My first plays I starred in was ‘Cyrano de Bergerac,’ and ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses.’ Small-time plays were not enough for me, so I started trying-out for movies. I was a huge success! I was promised to be the next big-thing in Hollywood!” At that point the director was calling the Police, knowing Masquerade was intoxicated. “I was thinking of more ways to get my name known, so I decided to direct my own movie, with me as the star! My movie idea was brilliant. It was a masterpiece. But in my line-of-work, there is no lack of scrubs. Half-way through directing the movie, I was brought to court by another studio for stealing their idea. I was framed.. I was stripped of my position as director & lead actor. Liars & cheats made off with my idea, and made millions with it! The man you see standing before you, was supposed to be the overlord of the acting industry. I’m supposed to be the king! I’M SUPPOSED TO BE THE FUCKING KING!” Police burst through the theatre doors, and rushed up the aisle way. Masquerade stumbled backwards, obviously drunk off his ass. The Police apprehended Masquerade, and hauled him off the stage & out the door. The audience remained seated, looking around confused. Some got up and left, but the ones who remained watched the stage waiting for something else to happen. That’s when the director walked onto the stage, holding a microphone. “I’m sorry for that uhh.. disturbance. I’m sorry to say that was our lead-actor, has decided to show up intoxicated. Your tickets will be refunded upon exiting. Again, I’m sorry.” |
