[News Article published by “The Strip Times”, Wrote by Journalist Kenny Jenkins, Thursday 13th June, 1946] If you happened to be passing the Summerlin police precinct down by 5th & 10th avenue at around 8pm on Tuesday night, you may have noticed a rather large police presence outside the station. Did you stop and wonder what all the fuss was about? Of course you did, but you were more than likely told to move on by one of the officers as the station was in lockdown. No one in or out. The reason for this bizarre occurrence was due to a sharply dressed young man by the name of Danielli Rimhea. Who is this Rimhea guy? Well, If you were to look at Danielli you’d see nothing but a fresh-faced young man, clean shaven, well-built, wearing a big smile. You would never think this was a connected guy who at the age of 25 has started to shake up Las Vegas and move up the ranks of the Sicarios crime family, one of the main players in Nevada state. Yes, this fresh-faced kid was the reason behind all that commotion the other night, and the police chief was making sure the rest of Las Vegas knew it. I managed to get insider info from one of the police officers, he kindly allowed me to photograph for you, the fine people of Nevada, the mugshot of Danielli Rimhea, the highest ranking crew member of the Sicarios crime family to be captured by the police in 3 years. Ireland was a tumultuous place to be in the early 20th century. To go back to the cause, you’d have to go back 800 years prior to 1921, but that’s a story for another time. In short, Ireland is a small country with a big heart. It is a nation of pride and honor, but also a nation of suffering and pain. She is a proud nation which was forcibly ruled by a foreign crown, thus started the events which lead us to our hard-lived police detainee, Danielli Rimhea. The plan was to escape to America and start a new life, Danielli would be born on American soil. Rimhea’s mother’s sicilian family had connections in Las Vegas and New York. Danielli, who at this stage was still in his mother’s womb, was to be taken in by his uncle, Sicario family member, StJames who would guide him and help him get on his feet when he came of age. Those plans changed when Rimhea senior was captured, Danielli’s mother could have easily not gotten on the ship and stayed in Ireland to try fight for her husband. Alas, it was not to be, Danielli’s father sent word from his prison cell that his wife was to take the unborn child and herself to America. The plan was to connect with her family in Las Vegas. He said his goodbyes in a lengthy handwritten letter to his wife. The tears evident on the old torn pages as too were candle wax. I managed to get this old letter as I was digging for info. Visions of a man in his cold dark cell awaiting to meet his maker. His love for his country weighing against the love for his young family. Mr. Rimhea was taken out to the prison courtyard at Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin to be shot by firing squad, a soldier’s death. He drew his last breath as Danielli took his first on board the passenger ship set for New York. In his mother’s arms, she cried as she lost a husband and gained a son. Danielli Rimhea was born. This forsaken boy grew hard and fast on the streets of Las Vegas, he turned into a bit of hoodlum and not even his mother could control him. At this stage he was 15 and running the back alleys of Las Vegas, petty crime and street fighting were part and parcel of this life that Danielli found himself in. Far removed from the brave street fighting and duty driven days of his Father back in Ireland. Danielli needed guidance. One day his mother contacted her brother, StJames. She asked him to take him in, make him a man, don’t let him continue this thuggery and police run-ins. So who are these Sicario guys? We hear about murders, robberies, million-dollar drug deals happening in 2 minutes and post offices left right and centre being emptied. Who is behind all of the things we read about while we sip our morning coffee and get ready to go do another 8-12-hour shift to earn another 2 bob’ pay check? I’ll tell you who, it’s the crime families who work in the shadows and smile in the sun. The construction site foremen who pull up to the site in black shine Cadillacs, these are people responsible for your misery, Las Vegas. Buy “The Strip Times” tomorrow to catch the latest developments and my next article. For now, stay safe Las Vegas, your man with the scoop, Kenny Jenkins, Reporter. |
